Beer has a lot to answer for. We had a fair bit that afternoon but in no way shape or form did I think you were a problem. I have, like most men, lost all reason after a pint or two and made decisions that you wouldn't sober. Everyone has. People get defensive over their friends, loved ones and even strangers if things look unfair. A man who abuses a woman physically OR verbally absolutely needs reminding about common courtesy and respect. It's not what you did, or who you did it to, it was where it happened, which was unfortunate. I'm sure that wasn't your intention, and that hopefully people will see it the same. Put it behind you. Get your head down and carry on. He was booted off another dig two weeks later, he is the common denominator, not you.

Well Done Liam! it takes a lot to post a public apology, hats off to you for also not naming them & I hope it doesn’t cause any issues for you on future digs, I enjoy your work around metal detectoring, as I know it has helped you & ultimately you’ve helped others. I Hope to see you one day on a dig (don’t worry i’ll shout from a distance 😎) & shake your hand as a thank you, as you’ve helped me & others, keep up your good work 😎 I’m very much old school as well, I can’t tolerate friends especially females being picked on, i’ve seen things go south rapidly during fights & hopefully it was just pride hurt & yourself, Nikki & Sam are ok 😎

Well having watched your video its not really an apology is it. Just you trying to justify why you hit someone in front of a tent full of families wanting a nice night out. Add to that your defamation of the guy and again its not actually an apology more like a continuation of the assault only audiovisually. Welcome to the new crop of detectorist’s folks!

Just to let you know, the guy who Liam had bother with was kicked off a dig two weeks later which Liam didn't attend. Whilst I agree it wasn't ideal what Liam did, the guy in question is renowned for being trouble, with women, with drugs, with alcohol. It's not difficult to see he had it coming but no one knew when or how. It was ill judged and misplaced chivalry, blinded by alcohol. I was pitched next to Liam and I can honestly tell you having met him he isn't a bad bloke, at all. We have all lost our tempers in our lives, and from what I know of the event, the build up and the aftermath Liams apology is sincere. Of course he regrets it.

We all make mistakes after we've had a skin full Liam.. It was shocking to see what happened in a packed out tent full of families, kids etc having a good time. All you can do is apologise for your actions, apologise to the event organisers and try to move on and not let something like this happen again. We all know you are a good guy and this was a one off incident fueled by too much beer

  • @muzzychuck

I wasn't there and I know nothing other than what's in this video, so I'll keep my general opinions to myself.
But as someone with years of legal training, particularly in published media, I will say this as friendly advice, though, and you can take it or leave it, Liam:
You might not have named him here, but everyone at the dig knows his name and they'll tell other people who it was, too. Therefore his identity is widely-known in detecting circles, aka 'public'.
In this video you've accused him of illegal activity (nighthawking and drug dealing) and strongly suggested that he's a sexual predator.
If I was him I would be banging on the door of my solicitor and starting legal proceedings against you for libel (as published material it's not slander) and ABH or GBH depending on any injuries.
If you can't PROVE that he's involved in both of those illegal activities (your fans here and mates IRL falling over themselves to agree with you is not, is not, IS NOT proof in the eyes of the law) he'll take you for all you are worth because not only have you attacked him in front of many witnesses but you have caused severe damage to his reputation, regardless of what those in-the-know may or may not think of him.
He'll win too, not least because the assault was seemingly legally indefensible, but because you've glorified it with the words 'royal rumble' in the thumbnail and your apology isn't really an apology - it's an admission of your violent act while (presumably) under the influence of alcohol. Despite what you say here you come across as proud of your actions, when alternative routes (reporting him to the security staff) were available to you.
You've got a family, a home and a business, Liam. Is it worth the damage you could cause to those things by leaving this video online?
    You've made a mistake. Don't compound it.

Just one question Liam.......... WHY!!. I don't understand why people feel the need to step away, not get involved or feel the need to disrespect others. Lets not bring Drink into this, that's not the factor here that's the outcome. If someone is abusing another person everyone should step in, I don't mean with raised voices or threats just plain talking. Point out that they have to stop this behaviour, no one should feel threatend where ever they go. People really need to step up to the plate and stop with the excuse of it's nothing to do with me, put yourself in that persons situation for a moment. I bet every single one of you would be saying, please someone stop him/her. When one person speaks up, you'll find others will do the same. You don't need a lecture Liam, you admitted your mistake and apologised, well done. Clearly you won't be doing that again in a hurry.

I've watched your "apology" video, and it's not really an apology, is it? It's you trying to use something that happened a couple of weeks earlier to justify a premeditated assault.
You start by saying that on TH-cam we don't see the reality of metal detecting. The reality is we detect, we find mainly rubbish, occasionally we find something nice. Everything else is ego.
When the bad man was intimidating the woman at Detectorcon, you didn't punch some respect into him there and then, you let him do it.
On the second night of Detectorcon, the bad man disrespected the woman, you again did nothing except have a little chat with him. You didn't punch some respect into him at that time either.
In your "apology" video you then spend a lot of time assassinating his character, claiming that hes a nighthawk, drug pusher, and he along with his freinds was high on drugs. This is a transparent attempt at making him the bad man and you the defender of all things good.
Then, you claim that two weeks after the bad mad was disrespectful to the woman, at the RCMR, he walked past you and muttered a few bad words at you. So you chased him down and assaulted him in the middle of the marquee.
You then go on to say he had locked a woman in a car and is a serial woman abuser and a bit of a Jack the Lad.
You finish by saying that you're not wrong for what you did, but your timing was wrong.
    How is that an apology?
The bad man being abusive at Detectorcon is irrelevent as you did nothing then. If that is the reason you attacked him, then this was nothing but a premeditated assault in front of a crowd.
The bad man saying bad things to the woman isn't what tge assault was about though. The assault was because the bad man said bad words to you.
Your final statement was that we can all make our own minds up. We don't need to, as far from apologising you have only attempted to justify your actions. You use an incident that happened a couple of weeks later as justification, you pad this out with accusations of him being a drug user, drug dealer, nighthawk, and woman abuser in order to make him the villain.
If it were me who you assaulted, I'd be straight down to my solicitor with this "apology".

    • @BloodySheddy
      @BloodySheddy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

@@HistoryRevisiteduk All I have done is timelined your "apology". So are you saying that your "apology" isn't correct? The pinned comment is about what happened at detectercon (sic) where you claim you had a little chat with him about his behaviour, but at that point took no violent action.
If you are saying that you used violence because of what happened at Detectorcon, then what you did was a premeditated assault.
If you are saying that you used violence at the RCMR because the bad man said some nasty words to you as he passed by, then what happened at Detectorcon has no relevance to your assault.

You and the rest of the bed wetters that want to attack Liam should be ashamed of yourselves. You're the reason his behaviour goes unchecked. So if you're not going to do anything about it, just stand back, keep your mouth shut, and let the men deal with the problem.

Liam I really don't see how you have done anything wrong. You did what anybody would have or should do when seeing someone being abused. If this guy is as well known as he, Sam and yourself say then surely that meant the organizers must have been aware and chose to let it happen when surley they could have at any point removed him from said event.I agree that it isn't something families wish to see however when security is as light a PG Tips tea bag in removing someone of that nature.... He becomes fair game to all who have a sense of right and wrong. I'd have done the same.
