Would love to work at a mushroom farm but there are none close to me in Michigan and really none that i can even find in Michigan when i google mushroom farms. I love the process of growing mushrooms and everything about mushrooms.
Rather late comment but I'll post it while we wait for the new vid: can you cover why you use smaller bags and a shelf system instead of hanging columnar bags? I do remember you talking about it once but I can't find where. Hanging bags intuitively sound better because: 1. Don't require shelves which cuts costs and reduces cleaning man-hours (bags could simply hang from a reinforced pipe going lengthwise across the room) 2. More exposed surface area per bag which should mean more production per flush (this is pure speculation since i haven't compared the two in practice) 3. Reduces the hassle of working with a lot of smaller blocks. I do get they're heavier but using a trolley makes this irrelevant
Great timing. I was just about to move 3 shiitake blocks to my fruiting tent. I have always taken the whole bag off. This time I will slit and leave the bottom on. Better moisture retention!
They are Raycon's and I like them, but I haven't tried others before so I'm not sure if I would recommend them against others. Ben is really happy with his Samsung ones.
Is there any shocking process for the ready to fruit shiitake blocks, like chilling them in a cooler for a few days or slapping them around? Or is that done before they're sent to you?
Very interesting video thanks. I am setting up a very small gig here in my home. I bought an 8 ft x 4 ft x 7 ft tent. The staging I am installing will allow about 50 blocks of the size you have on the video here. I am a little worried about air quality. The adverts for these grow tents show them being used inside, but usually in the pics there are plants rather than mushies growing. Here I see you using breathing apparatus when working. I have a good filter system flushing out of the window. Do you think it will be enough in your experience?
Breeding. Andrew currently has a fairly massive oyster mushroom breeding program that he's been running for the last couple years, and now he's starting to breed shiitake. Playing with what kind of new properties he can develop or improve on.
I love your videos. Your videos saved me a bunch of time and money that I would have lost. I realized I just wasn't ready to try and make a mushroom farm.
Did I hear that you’re getting spores from the ready to fruit blocks? I’m just getting started and thought about the same thing, but was told that the ready to fruit blocks are already 3rd generation and shouldn’t be used to create more mushrooms. Do you happen to know what generation the blocks you got were? I’m also wondering if I given the correct info. Thanks for all your videos!
What kind of space are you growing in? And what is it zoned for? I'm planning on making the jump and grabbing a small warehouse space but I want to make sure I get the right kind of space.
Honestly I know nothing about the zoning. It's light industrial if I had to guess. It's the old farmer's coop of my town. Big warehouse with the old railroad tracks up against the building.

Hey mate we love your videos and always learn a lot. We have a small mushroom farm in Germany and would like to start producing Shiitake this year and have a quick question for you. For your substrate mix do you use 50/50 wheat bran and HFP or a different ratio? Thank you for your help and have a good one!
Your hair is getting so damn long! Man my hair is getting so damn long! I got a crazy oyster LC, just found it last week in NC. Cap was 5”!!! if you’re down to trade 😎
Friendly fyi that beard is going to dramatically reduce the effectiveness of your respirator. You need to be clean shaven to create the ideal seal to reduce inhalation of particulates.
Your hard work is paying off
I love your LC's. I've been getting huge flushes with king blues on pasteurize wheat straw. Keep making vids. Y'all are awesome!
Thank you, I plan on it for sure!
I'm looking for a good strain to run on wheat straw logs. What kind of yields have you been getting/are you doing long tubes or smaller bags?

My experiences with North Spore up in Maine have been wonderful also.
I love seeing your journey thru the mushroom forest. Love you guys, wishing you the best!
Thanks Dune! Have you watched the new movie yet?
One happy guy right there! Brilliant!
Was going to try some of these blocks from Maine and cap but someone but them all.
Are they running out already!?

Can you use fresh cutted shiitake pieces to mix them with pellet oak substrate directly, skiping the spawn bags?
Thanks for posting this! I plan on running shiitaki soon
You're welcome Jesse! I hope it helps.
A question brother do i need to wear a mask when handeling mushroom?

now how to find buyers...especially before you have anything ready
What is the purpose of the respirators?
So you don't inhale spores

You don't need filters, but you do need to duct the air from the tent outside of your home.
@@Mossycreekmushroomsofficial Thanks for the advice. Have a nice xmas

What year do you think “other mushrooms” 🍄 will be legal to cultivate and market
Why do you need spores for shiitake when there are cultures available ????@9:35

Not right now. 5lb minimum with the default configuration.
