The problem with Trek games is they reduce them down to space battles when the core of Trek is exploration and discovery.
Yes, I dont know why nobody realised that and made a Roleplaying-game in the style of (for example) Mass Effect.
That is why the great games are Kobayashi Alternative, Promethean prophecy, 25th anniversary, judgement rites, TNG Final Unity and Vulcan's fury

This. Also, I feel like its perfect for an open world that doesn't really have a pressing main story, sue to Star Trek excelling in self-contained adventures in each star system. I actually liked Star Trek Online due to the many stories you can experience in it, but the game is an MMO at the end of the day, with poor/janky animations that really need to be looked past to enjoy said stories. Screw NMS or Starfield, Star Trek would make the perfect world for their gameplay. Honestly though, Starfield would be perfect for a Star Trek overhaul, due to the spare planet and highly modular live-in ships that can be modded.
A pity that there was never a Star Trek roleplaying game for singleplayer. The whole franchise is tailormade for a good RPG in the Style of Mass Effect or Baldurs Gate, but nobody really made one.
I vote for King's Quest type of games.
Resurgence came out earlier this year with zero fanfare, and might be one of the best Star Trek games ever made. The developers got Trek right.
Klingon Academy will always be my favorite.
In short, a good *Star Trek* game is rarer than mid-22nd century dilithium.
I'm not a Star Trek fan at all, but Deep Space 9 The Fallen is my personal favourite.
Starfleet Command was a decent series. Based on tabletop games. Bridge Commander was THE GAME, but suffered bcause a lot of bugs. Those are those i played and enjoyed myself.

Biggest disappointment was Birth of The Federation. Never ran well on the machine I had.
@@winterbas8927 You didn't miss much, it was basically a tedious, micromanagement-heavy slower version of MoO.
I played it on Win10 x64 with a bunch of man-made compatibility patches, the only real issue I had after getting it set up was maybe the videos?
I couldn't get the Starfleet Command games to work yet, unfortunately.
The other games you mentioned are all very good, I got them on GOG back before their sister company CD Projekt RED proved itself multiple kinds of shitty -- despite the hassle my bank caused.

Hmm, was hoping for a Star Trek TNG game in the vein of Mass Effect 1 to exist, not for the shooting stuff, but everything else ME1 offers.

Man there have been A LOT of really bad ST games...
They should make a sci-fi horror game similar to Alien: Isolation and Jurassic Park: Survival. Players would play as a female and male ensign and they fight Romulans and the Borg. The Borg are the stalker enemy and it takes place six months in between the last TNG episode and the main story of Generations with Picard on pirate ship on the holodeck and they find Soran on a romulan ship. Soran is one of the main villains but another villain works with him. Players can use the holodeck to outsmart enemies to just create your own adventures. And players can fear being assimilated and see the darker portrayal of people being assimilated. But the game can just be called Nexus without the Star Trek title. Walter Koenig can voice as an older Pavel Charlie before his son became president of United Federation Of Planets and mention Kirk’s “death”. Guinan is also there as the player’s guide. The themes of the game can deal with prejudice, fear, change, and adapting to new cultures.

Klingon Academy is still the best Trek game ever made.
Since i´m a huge fan of Master of Orion, i loved to play Birth of Federation. Elite Force and Armada is stil awesome today 🖖

It is sad that Star Wars fans gets BF2 and Star Trek fans get these silly games. I love both franchise. I just wish they give us a good Star Trek game.

It's a return to average after the mostly-good MMO -- officially-licensed *Star Trek* games have always been a mixed bag, as shown.
Even *The Kobayashi Maru Alternative* was extremely buggy.
like most other things in life, newer, modern things are mostly inferior in quality but superior in flash.
