WARZONE 2100: One of the first RTS games to use 3D graphics, it's still being maintained and updated. It's a post apocalyptic setting where you play as a military organization trying to rebuild some form of civilization. The tech tree is huge and intimidating, and unlike other RTS games, you don't research units. Instead, you research propulsion systems, hulls and weapon systems, then design your own tanks from the stuff you researched. A really fun and unique system I haven't seen in other RTS games.
Endereal: Forgotten Stories (on Steam). However you need Skyrim to be able to run it. Many folk say it was better than Skyrim. Am surprised Team Fortress 2 was not on this list. However I am glad it was not. I am way more interested in free single player stuff, rather than free arena PvP games.
Pokemon Uranium! A fan game in the style of the OG Pokemon games, with a new mechanic of radioactivity and Pokemon that use it. It was taken down right away, but it is very easy to find online.
I'm sad I never see Iji in videos like this. I very highly recommend that game. It's free and it's a sidescroller with quite a bit of depth. It has a good story and fun combat. I'm not even a fan of sidescrollers, but I've sunk so much time and so many playthroughs into this game. At first glance, you might be put off by the art style, but it grows on you and kind of becomes endearing in a way. And the music is fantastic. I can't recommend enough! Thanks for your video
I signed back in just to comment on a 2-year-old video, to point out how they missed Iji. I'm genuinely surprised it hasn't gotten ported to a handheld like the Vita or Switch.
@@ChristopherMathieu I know, right? It'd be perfect for that format. The Switch has a pretty good sized indie market already, so I'm certain it would do well. Maybe I'm biased, though. I just want to see Iji get the love it deserves :D

Considering how much fun I've had with Genshin Impact, I have to leave a note mentioning that there's only one microtransaction in the game (technically theres also battle pass-like thing, but that works pretty much like any other battle pass). It gets you a special currency that's called Genesis Crystals that are either used to buy cosmetics, booster bundles, or can be converted into the "Gacha Currency" called Primo Gems. BUT, you don't NEED to spend any actual money to get Primo Gems; you get them through doing the story, events, exploring, and even dailies. Heck, even achievements will give you some. I whole-heartedly agree with gameranx that Genshin Impact is a great game, but don't be put off when they said that it has "Free-to-Play" elements. You don't have to spend a dime to enjoy it, it just may take a bit longer depending on your "luck" with RNG.
No need to explain. I think most people know that while it allows and even encourages people to sink cash, it is very easy to enjoy for free. For the amount of content, most games would charge full price, and I am guessing (might be wrong) that if you were to allocate the price of a game (30-60 bucks), you could probably have plenty of these gems to use as you please. Free to play games can have ways to spend money, as long as they are fun to play for free as well. Imo league of legends did this well. It allows you to buy champs with money, but you don't really need to and the game is super fun just for free. As long as you enjoy hyper competitive online games with all the toxicity that entails.
My biggest appreciation is how long they actually had the video go for. They actually went past the Golden Star method for the algorithm just to give us some extra content. Thanks guys! And this time, the pizza is on me.
@@mikespike2099 I mean, not really, the game is very easy and can be beaten completely with the starting 4 characters. Unless you want to push Abyss or get the lowest domain times possible you don't need to pay at all. (Someone who is F2P AR56)
@@henrlima87 then he should have said that. Himno, isn't a difficult game, but some parts will be frustrating bc all the levels look the same, and there are check points to reach. Falling into water restarts the player at the bottom again, which is not the "stress free" game the devs, and lazy game journos, say it is. Flower, in my most humble, is a much better choice for relaxing gaming.
i love that genshin is on here. I recently started playing genshin just outta curiosity and i really thought id hit a wall at one point where id have to spend money but nope, havent needed to spend a single dime in all my time of playing and the gameplay doesnt even encourage you to do so either! all the content in the gam can seemingly be cleared with 4 stars that you get and you dont even need any of the 5 stars for anything. really good experience so far
Thank You for this! When I first played POE I was shocked after only a couple hours in that it was completely free. After several hours in I purchased a couple of colored weapon effects just to support in some small way towards a game that the team had put SO much love into.
Genshin Impact has given me a huge mix of emotions in the last year. I love it but I hate it because it’s consumed my life. I’m more consistently doing my dailies than I am at washing the dishes. Haven’t spent a dime on it and I’ve had a blast.
I love it too! It's so fun and awesome, and while it's not the best game out there it's super enjoyable and the characters and gameplay are very well designed. I also think that it's great how you can do mostly anything without spending money. In fact I'd say the experience if better without spending, unless it's for a skin or something which you can't get otherwise, because buying primos removes the excitement of each wish.
Great video highlighting some good looking games. Will you make and release more videos like this around the holidays? After buying presents for family and friends, new games are difficult to fit into the budget and these free games appear entertaining and fun.
An MMO game called Warframe can be play as single player/solo mode which allows u to pause the game. Platinum(micro transaction) can be obtain easily in the game. Most frames(character) can be obtain without spending a dime. Platinum is mostly use as a way to fast forward the crafting process or cosmetics(doesn't boost any stat, it's just for the looks). A game where majority are F2P player. Also with a friendly community (most veteran will help you).
Path of Exile way too low on the list, you literally get 100+ hours of content in an amazing aarpg for free. AND all the microtransactions are completely cosmetic!
the quality of life upgrades aren't 'purely cosmetic', given how much extra crap you get from the various 'expansion gimmicks' you will need to buy extra storage slots to manage them.
Pokemon uranium was another fan game that turned out as an excellent throwback to classic pokemon games. it did get pulled, but i'm sure it can still be found.
You can technically count Tales of Maj’Eyal as a free game, since the developers offer a free version on their website that is basically 99.9% of the game. (The main reason you’d buy the Steam version is to support the devs, and be able to purchase & play the expansions. It’s in on-going development, as well.) It’s a huge and ridiculously deep true roguelike, with one of the highest amounts of races & classes that I’ve seen for an RPG. I’ve only put about 11 hour into it myself, and its complexity can be quite unfriendly to new players, but it’s also considered to be one of the best games in the genre by a lot of people.
A few I’d recommend Popgoes:a fnaf fan game that is surprisingly well done, and while I wouldn’t consider it scary it’s surprisingly addictive The Elder Scrools 2 daggerfall:Bethesda released it for free for an elder scrolls anniversary (can’t remember which one), and some fans are working on a Unity engine port called Daggerfall Unity (which is basically GZDoom for Daggerfall) Lycanthorn 1&2:Castlevania inspired standalone Doom wads made by the same guy that made Shrine 1&2
wow, I didn't know the No One Lives Forever games are free. I am tempted to download those and replay them since it has been many years after last playing. NOLF is one of my alltime favorite FPS games.
If you actually lived through the ZX Spectrum, C64, Master System, PC Engine and Megadrive era the games on this list just do not appeal to you aside from Path of Exiles and Genshin Impact. I may be on my own with this view but with the amount of excellent looking next gen free to play games that I have on my PS5 hard drive, I’m stunned that so many have been omitted from the your list in place of what can only be described as early 90’s throwbacks. I believe in moving forwards not back
I was really disappointed With that game.. I got it for Christmas on Xbox when it first came out…i guess I just expected more..the gameplay felt very stiff..and it just had so much wasted potential
I think because technically it's a multiplayer game that can be played solo, and something like PoE is a single player experience that can also have multiplayer elements.

Genshin Impact does actually not require to buy anything. The entire story can be played trough F2P.
God of Thunder is an old eight-bit action-puzzle game from like 1993 and it's free on Steam. The original creator put it up there, and it's actually a lot of fun and has a great soundtrack, interesting enemies, a fun story, and a quirky sense of humor. I wish more people knew about this game.

Thank you Jake for providing additional games to our Steam library.
lol the fact that this guy said "Matilda" instead of "maldita"
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly is probably one of the best totally free single player games. There're actually several different stalker standalone mods worth checking out but for someone new to the series, Anomaly would be the best start.
It's not free you liar
Tons of thanks for putting this together. Don't really care about platformers or arcady-y games, but Dark Mod and Cry of Fear really pulled the Half-Life and Thief off the nostalgia bag 🙂
The community of Zero-K is still active to this day.Usually on weeekends but there are at least 30 players every evening in Europe. Also updates are still rolling.
I play it almost daily
Love this video thanks for taking the time to make it!
Glad you liked it
Hey, great video! But the correct name for game #13 is MALDITA CASTILLA (or Cursed Castilla) not Matilda lol
Genshin impact be like - Yeah sure I am free
it is free, people should just be patient or multi account.
At least genshin is still playable with the free content and the story and plot is more thorough and enjoyable
@@raulrojas9253 They nerfed the multi account thing hard, it's almost not worth it at this point.
Get you into it - paywalls will come!
@@mikespike2099 I mean, not really, the game is very easy and can be beaten completely with the starting 4 characters. Unless you want to push Abyss or get the lowest domain times possible you don't need to pay at all.

"You can't die in Himno"
[Ends segment with character falling into water, to be restarted at the beginning of the map]
he just pleasantly drowned
I think he meant there is no "game over".
@@sirsplintfastthepungent1373 i never played this or flower. Played journey from the same devs as flower and its excellent.
You forgot 'ECHO ARENA'! The NPC's in there are hilarious: "i'm a real person in Toledo you idiot!" LOL. So clever...
i love that genshin is on here.
I’ve been playing for almost a year and have almost spent $800
No One Lives Forever that game deserves more attention and praise
one of my top FPS of all time , loved Kate Archer
Thank You for this! When I first played POE I was shocked after only a couple hours in that it was completely free. After several hours in I purchased a couple of colored weapon effects just to support in some small way towards a game that the team had put SO much love into.
Those rings in Undefeated gave me Superman 64 Vietnam flashbacks
Oh wow, I'm so glad the NOLF games get some recognition! Loved them so much, especially 2.
At the high seas, every game is free still good to know

Great video highlighting some good looking games. Will you make and release more videos like this around the holidays? After buying presents for family and friends, new games are difficult to fit into the budget and these free games appear entertaining and fun.
Endless Sky is a great free game, I highly recommend it.
Any game on thr TI-83 calculator. Thank you for getting me through high school before any of us had cell phones!
Like that snake game! Also, multiplayer Tetris was awesome.
@@ScreaminSeahawk I had some kind of bully game where you could buy spit balls and rubber bands and make money somehow
I feel like warframe should atleast be on this list.. Maybe you guys will make another video on this topic and talk about it..
Agreed, everything in the game can be obtained for free.
Tho yes in a way it's pay to win.
Agreed but I think since it’s more multiplayer PvE centric it didn’t get in
@@michaelsmeltzer7007 yeah true but it can be played single player all solo.. I mean you have interesting quests and SOLO FARMING
Should’ve played the Helltaker soundtrack, it even got nominated as best soundtrack 2020 :D
That sonic game actually looks good
Thanks for mentioning No One Lives Forever series. NOLF2 is older than F.E.A.R. but looks so much better.
Path of Exile way too low on the list, you literally get 100+ hours of content in an amazing aarpg for free. AND all the microtransactions are completely cosmetic!
It's a random list, not from worse (25) to best (1). Path of Exile definitely a good game ! 😉
the quality of life upgrades aren't 'purely cosmetic', given how much extra crap you get from the various 'expansion gimmicks' you will need to buy extra storage slots to manage them.
Pokemon uranium was another fan game that turned out as an excellent throwback to classic pokemon games. it did get pulled, but i'm sure it can still be found.
Genshin impact may be free but you pay with your time and self respect.
Time? Yes, self respect? No
yeah lol what self respect?
self respect won’t pay dev’s bills nor their kid’s college either.
@rebel its a great game. Its just addictive af.
Let It Die
Destiny 2
Shark Simulator
Warframe
These are just some games i know are Free To Play. Not all the best but enjoyable at least
Plus Star Wars The Old Republic
Great list thanls for the recommendations!! Funny Jake kept saying "Matilda Castilla" when it should be "Maldita Castilla" (Cursed Castilla)
They made a bootleg Superman game but still felt the need for a flying-through-rings mission lol
Props to gameranx for highlighting grey area non-licensed games
Seriously increased my respect for them
A few I’d recommend
Popgoes:a fnaf fan game that is surprisingly well done, and while I wouldn’t consider it scary it’s surprisingly addictive
The Elder Scrools 2 daggerfall:Bethesda released it for free for an elder scrolls anniversary (can’t remember which one), and some fans are working on a Unity engine port called Daggerfall Unity (which is basically GZDoom for Daggerfall)
Lycanthorn 1&2:Castlevania inspired standalone Doom wads made by the same guy that made Shrine 1&2
wow, I didn't know the No One Lives Forever games are free. I am tempted to download those and replay them since it has been many years after last playing. NOLF is one of my alltime favorite FPS games.
if you are reading this....go play doki doki
I was absolutely devastated to not see Dan The Man on this list. That game is literally amazing.
I've been able to enjoy Genshin Impact without spending a single cent, solely using the main character Lumine.
Cloud Climber is also a solid pick.
Genshi has a great story mode and art. You don't need to spend anything to enjoy those.
21's art style looks like legend of zelda and I like that :)
I believe in moving forwards not back
THANK YOU FOR TIMESTAMPS! PLEASE do this for all videos moving forward
Vampyr was a really good single player game but was only free with ps plus sadly but I really enjoyed it
I was really disappointed With that game.. I got it for Christmas on Xbox when it first came out…i guess I just expected more..the gameplay felt very stiff..and it just had so much wasted potential
@Dante Toshiro64 sub
I challange you guys to count how many times did gameranx said ,,content'' in this video.
I'm so confused on how Warframe didn't make the list
I think because technically it's a multiplayer game that can be played solo, and something like PoE is a single player experience that can also have multiplayer elements.
Genshin Impact does actually not require to buy anything. The entire story can be played trough F2P.
Genshin Impact was fun a little bit, but it pushes the micro-transactions hard. Path of Exile and Warframe are great games.
How, only if you need overpowered weapons and characters which are not required to play the story.
Wasn't expecting a video at this time 🤙🏽
just gone and grabbed NOLF 1+2 Loved them games , they should bring back Kate Archer . They was one off my Fav FPS back in the day
I'd rather they keep sleeping giants sleep, just look how they massacred the XIII "remake". but yes. NOLF1+2 forever !
Nightdive Studios tried to acquire the rights to make a remake, the problem is - nobody knows who owns the rights to the series currently.
@@proOutlander and the nightmare he'll of ownership is why it hasn't been taken down.
I like genshin impact but the adventure rank system made it really hard for me to get through the story
you can lower your world rank to make things easier can only lower it by one level but still, it helps a lot. Unless you mean getting higher ranks is hard, then yeah it takes a long time
@@Nobody_Fn_Important Like, you can get to AR50 in like three months, or even less, but you can get to 45 in a month or less.
@@arts3802 been playing for a while and I haven't seen any reason to go past 45, I've been there for a long time and I haven't felt the urge to advance any further all the story elements and gameplay is set to 30 or below so to get through the game think the max anyone should shoot for is 35 unless they really want the challenge. if I advanced right now I could probably go up to 60 if possible with all the exp I have in my Adventure rank. then of course there is the final upgrade to your characters that does need adventure rank of 50 so there is that.
@@Nobody_Fn_Important
EDIT: Mega whales are just reaching AR60*
Even like the mega whales haven’t hit 60 yet, it’s so far off, just for example you need 360k experience to go from 50-56, I’ve wanted to do it in one shot so I’ve been saving. I’m at about 400k saved adventure exp atm.
If you don’t want any challenge, for sure stay low level, but I love to max out my characters, so I needed 50 at least. Even now that I’ve been at 50 for awhile, I’m feeling the lure of the higher rarity material drops from the higher world levels, so I’ll probably go up to 56 in the next couple weeks.
I'm almost at AR58 and I clap everything at World Level 8, then again that's pretty easy when you have a cracked out Ganyu lmao
Dink Smallwood never gets the credit it deserves
Can you do a list for CO op story games free - under 25-30€
You should try Total Chaos which is a Doom II mod and its an amazing Survival Horror game!
Shouldn't Warframe be in this list? I haven't played that game for a while, but I remember it being very good, considering f2p. Also, path of exile is better than most that you ranked above it, imho.

Does the progression feel like a chore or does it happen naturally through objectives
"Gravitas" is missing, it is a game very inspired by the Portal saga, but at the same time it has its own scene, it is very short but entertaining, and the characters that appear are very memorable.
