      my rider course only had one tw200, I got one of their five rebel 250's which was far from comfortable. at least I didn't get stuck with one of their two z125's 😂. they also had a tu250x and couple other bikes, funny little selection

    This bike and especially the engine has roots in the BW200.
    It was a transitional bike to fill in with the hopes of taking the place of all the 3 wheeled ATC’s when the ATCs got outlawed. They only made them for three years in the early 80’s. They had huge ATC type tires. That kind had gyroscopic effect that made turning and cornering cumbersome but wasn’t bad at slow speed. The one I had was like a tractor. It would go through 3 feet of Erie Pennsylvania snow with no effort at all. And when the transitioned once again to some what smaller tires and made it street legal they actually rode some to the North Pole as an advertising stunt. They started every time. And made it no problem. Those 200cc engines are great. Very reliable.
    I got a Kawasaki Super Sherpa in 2009 brand new but was eyeing the TW up as a toss up. Still may get one someday. Great vid. Good to see someone having good clean fun without the daredevil stuff.
    Just like when we were kids.

    As long as you use them within their limits (not made for the freeway speeds 60-80 mph). But for back roads, dirt roads, fire roads, cat trails, and ATV/ORV trails its amazing.

      I live in KY. I paid a local dealership 500 to reserve the next TW that comes in for me. That was back in December 2020. I'm not gonna settle for any other bike. In 2019 I bought a new crf 250l honda. It was just too tall for me. I traded it to a Harley Davidson that I love but I still want a dual sport for these KY back roads. Was cruising craigslist for a different bike and found a tdub that looked sweet it was decked out with mods. that's the point I started really looking into a tw and probably within a year I finally Finally found a 94 with 1300 miles for 1500$. Hey Dork good video really I liked it. As you know I have saved for some time now to get a new TW 200, I was planning to get one this month the 2021. I have $600.00 dollars over the MSRP price of a new bike, however even though I knew I would need to pay the taxes, I was quite pissed at the fact the dealer's here in south Florida add what they call dealer fees. Long story short a new bike for $4699.00 is actually approximately around $5800.00 to $6000.00 dollars out the door. I guess the days of showing up with cash well over the asking price are over. With that said I have got back my composier trying to stay positive and will just need to wait another month maybe two, I have a family to support also and Christmas is around the corner, I just needed to vent a little about the BULL SHIT! of always having people trying to squeeze every cent out of you, and ofcourse they would love to finance the bike if i want so they can make twice the asking price when all said and done, just sickens me a bit. I won't give up though I will remain patient and eventually I will get one. Until then I will be enjoying your vids ride safe buddy thanks for letting me vent take care!

    • @dualdorks
      @dualdorks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats a bummer man. Just gotta keep patient and find the right dealer. Hopefully you can get one sooner or later . Hopefully something will pop up on the marketplace or Craigslist around ya. The only downside for the buyer is that they hold their value so well that people can legit get away of selling a 15 year old T dub for 3K . Its ridiculous. I ran into that issue before I got mine in Washington. People were asking way to much for a used bike haha. I ended saying screw it and saw one at a dealership and traded a bike in for it

    • @MrPatrickgannon
      @MrPatrickgannon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dualdorks Thanks man I will I won't give up I waited and saved this long what is another two months, it's just sad it's overwhelming to see so much greed! the bike is $4699 but dealer fees make it $6000.00 k out the door REALLY! anyway keep riding safe looking forward to your next video.

      I hear you, went through the same thing up here in New England. Part of it is supply issues and uncertainty having a big impact on supply and demand, especially after last year's unexpected sales boom. Some dealers only have assurance of maybe one of a certain model, so they often ask for, and get, top dollar. I moved on from local dealer who wouldn't budge. Don't be afraid to look out of state, shipping is often cheap. Bought a new Moto Guzzi last year that way. Awesome deal.
      Cheers! Oh, and look at the KLX230! ; )

      @MrPatrickgannon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TK-cl1jm I ended up getting the 2021 and yes at first I said no I will wait save more cash call me when your willing to make a deal. Two weeks later they decided to deal with me after I'm sure most said I am not paying 6700k for a bike that's MRSP is 4699. Long story short they kind of worked with me so I still paid top dollar but it's ok I love the TDUB, it's all I expected and more.

    There are actually a couple of significant differences between earlier and later model years of the TW200, other than the disc brakes improvement for the 2000 model and beyond. First, Tdubs up to 2001 had kick start and electric start. The second, and most critical difference, is the 1987 had a different electrical system than the other years. My understanding is that the headlight is powered by the stator as opposed to being connected directly to the battery. While at idle, the headlight receives only 5 volts and dims accordingly. This means that the headlight (and possibly the other lights) cannot be changed to LED or the LED will strobe at the lower voltage.

    What brand rear rack do you have and how do you like it ?

    • @dualdorks
      @dualdorks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the Tusk Rack. It looks cool but as soon as you actually use it and put weight on it the rack itself is going to rip , especially in the corners. If you know how to weld and got the equipment it isn't to big of a deal but I might just get the cyclerack for it in the near future. Had one on my XR and had no problems with it

    I want to see you fix a flat tire on it in the middle of nowhere. If I thought I could do that I would get one. I ride an XT225, with a center stand made by a former member of XT225.com, who no longer makes them. The center stand and narrow tires on the XT makes it pretty easy to fix a flat.

      D, It's always cool to hear that more people find out about these things from the 'rider's safety courses..
      My friends back home own the shop and teach the course for the one around there..
      I used to go there to visit and loiter in the shop, and there were always TDubs putting around out there.
      Yeeaah buddy!
      Before those courses, It was rare to spot em'.. I think I had the only two around..
      D, it's so killer how much you've gotten to ride and enjoy yours! Man, @ 12k mi.. That's outa' hand!
      As we hit the 6:17 mark, and the bike flops over and takes a dirt nap.. Hahahahaha
      Dude, I love how ya just bash around on yours! They just go and go and go! Absolute Beasts!
      The area that you're riding around in the vid - Killer! That's an enduro playground for sure!
      And the s**w... I still can't believe you got that much over there! I think ya beat us over here!
      The flurries and freezing rain while I was riding was enough for me! haha
      Funny you mentioned some of the TDub owners..
      They'll rant and rave about how good or bad they are, come off as gurus, yet damn near no miles on the clocks,
      they sit and collect more dust than cruise and collect dirt.. I'll never understand..
      [as we get to 12:11] Is that a jump? It sure looks like it could be. And **Wham** Yup, it's a jump! :D
      Another reason I love these things so much.. When I took my other ones out on 'urban adventures'
      [more like terrorizing town] I'd carve into driveways and jump the sides, find big trees where you could ride up the trunks..
      Then either jump em' at odd angles, or, ride up em', clutch, and roll back down fakey [backwards] then roll out.. [BMX'er]
      Mine saw a 1/2 pipe, lots of skate/bike ramps, colleges [ledges, ramps, and staircases], r/r tracks, you name it..
      All the abuse and torture I put one of them through, it's amazing I never even bent a rim or popped a tire..
      Is that another jump @ 12:40 ? Hahahaha Talk about a great transition into the next suggested mod. :D
      Ya found some Mud! Niiice. Just a few days ago, I learned about a place near by where there's Sand.
      [Unless I hit an actual beach, we don't have very many places with sand around here, so that was cool]
      15:47 - Talk about a mountain goat.. Nice climb!
      Man.. you know what I always say.. That scenery and terrain.. Just unreal.. love it!
      GREAT thoughts/opinions and overall video bro!
      🤘😊
      Sam -
