I bought this bike brand new in October 2019 with less than 20 miles on it . Here are some highlights from good times to bad times on the TW200 in that span .
I'm a Yamawhore through and through, maybe even a simb in some cases. The TW200 caught my eye years ago as something I'd want one day. I'm not sure if a full grenade at 15k inspires a lot of confidence but I realize shit happens. Nice video, the first in my journey to convince myself I need a Tee Dubya
I've seen TWs online with well over 40,000 miles. That high desert heat on an air cooled bike doing the RPMs I did for a long time is definitely a recipe for disaster lol
The "Nooo!" when u blew the engine in that parking lot... that's a real selling point for this machine. Must have been tough without the bike while it was being fixed. You seem like you'd sleep in the tw200 if you could 😂 Definitely a machine I want to own one day
Dustin, great job video documenting your journey with the T-Dub. You have a great sense of humor and can laugh at yourself. Your riding is inspiring. Watching you and Rodney riding together at T-Dub Fest 2023 was fun to watch. Be good!
Way to go Dustin, that's an accomplishment to be able to get that amount and quality of riding in. Enjoy it while you can! I sure hope your next assignment lends itself well to your habits. Once a family comes your way, you'll have a lot of memories while you're stuck at home waiting for your kids to get old enough to ride... 😁
True. I am a father of... I think we're up to 4 now. All of them are under 9. It all blends together once you get past having two of them. Anyways, life definitely changes. Just be sure to support your partners hobbies, and make sure they support yours. My wife lets me ride whenever I want to go, and I always say yes anytime she needs time with her friends or play tennis. Can I go on a two week journey anymore, no. Not because I can't, but because I don't want my wife handling everything by herself for that long because it's a lot of work and everyone needs a break. But I can still get weekend rides and trips in and ride my 300L Rally every day. Looking forward to the day I have to buy a bike trailer so I can take the whole gang.

Old School Navy Corpsman here that was stationed with the Marine Corps for my time in @ Camp Lejune, North Carolina. Just stumbled a cross this video. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing you enjoy riding! Made me feel a lil younger. As Always, May God Bless you and yours!
I liked the clock over-lay. My bike turned 1 yesterday. Just under 5k miles. Your videos keep getting better. I give this a 9.9. If I was in it, it would be a 10!
I do ever so wish I could afford a Tdub. On a positive note, at least I still own a Yamaha. It just happens to be a V-Star 250 that I got for $10. The registration cost more than my motorcycle. Unfortunately, no such deals exist for Tdubs.
Subscribed for the TW videos, keep it up. The bent connecting rod may have been from hydrolock if you had ridden through some deep puddles in the miles leading up to it. One of those things that can start a relatively small out of spec issue but guaranteed to be a fatal cascade later on as it bends further and breaks. Especially on a low compression engine it would take awhile to work from bad to worse. Not trying to down talk you but I would think the engine should last quite awhile in more ideal conditions. Looks like you've living the dream, keep churning out this content.
Thank you for taking the time and all of the effort to put this video together for us. Very enjoyable. Well done... From a fellow, but considerably older, TDub rider.

Much easier to stay alive and healthy on a T-dub than 450cc motocross bike, and damn near as much fun. As the enduro saying goes, "if your bike is too slow, the road is too wide".
Thanks for this. In Burma I'm riding an Enfield Himalayan, but I think the TW 200 would be far better for the kind of riding we have here. If I can get one in Thailand and sneak it over, I will. Good on you for 20,000. My 1984 BMW R80 GS is over 280,000 with regular maintenance.
Bought my TDub in 2018 and have had a journey of a lifetime with it as well. Had to rebuild mine as well but didn't do as awesome of a job grenading the motor lol. Well done on the video and wishing you many more years of happy riding.
Generators run at full throttle for thousands of hours without any problems. IMO Your engine failure most likely wasn’t because of excessive highway mileage. It could’ve been a number of other things. Maybe it was an oil issue. I never go off what the manufacturers suggest. A lot of that manufacturer suggestion. bullshit is all because of the EPA. Wanting to conserve oil. My general rule is 1 quart of oil = 500 miles. For example, if you have a pick up truck that holds 10 quarts of oil change the oil every 5000 miles. If a motorcycle holds 2 quarts of oil change the oil every 1000 miles. If you get what I’m saying

Such awesome adventures! Props for rebuilding the engine and keeping the TW goin. I just wanna see a TW with the new R3 engine. An electric motor up front. Some LEDs. Fuel injection. Like a Tenere 300 I guess.
dude that's not just a tank! that's an extremely rare M247 'Sgt York' DIVAD. it was basically an armored anti-aircraft unit assigned to individual divisions to provide air defense. there's only five left in existence, and you found one. AND HOLY CRAP an M901 ATGM carrier! that's the APC with the back open you rode into. here's the Wikipedia article on the M247 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M247_Sergeant_York and the one on the M901 is here- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M901_ITV
My buddy in that ride knew a lot about armor as well and he was super excited to see it. Here is a link from that video where I go inside it . th-cam.com/video/Ly6l3iuXsT8/w-d-xo.html
Of course a squid doesn’t recognize when he’s on the object end of a range. Haha! Just kidding. I loved watching your journey and hope you stay safe and keep it up. Thank you for your videos and service to our country.
I bought a new 2007 XT225 which is very similar to the TW but 6 speed trans. I had 16,000 miles on it at 10 months. (3300 deep into Mexico) I sold it a couple years later with 33,000 miles. I felt the bike would go to 100k, that’s how impressed I was with that bike. TONS of interstate miles on it traveling cross country. Here’s the rule I lived by. The bikes top speed was 80. I made it a practice to only cruise at 80% of that. So basically 65 tops. I see people say the top speed of the TW is 70. 80% of that is 56. If I was to own one of these, that’s what I’d cruise at for top speed. But I have to say this. I PROPERLY broke that engine in. I didn’t drive over 45 mph till I had 500 miles on it. Then not over 55 mph till it had 1000 miles. If you read the manual, that’s how Yamaha says to break it in. Why people think their smarter then a whole team of Yamaha engineers, is beyond me! I never knew what the top speed was till the bike had over 1000 miles on it. That’s why I’d hate to buy a used one. Most people find out what top speed is on the way home from the dealer. Then they can’t figure out why their engines don’t last. Another thing people don’t do. They don’t let the engine warm up. They do cold starts and hot rod off. Granted, I never found out how far my engine would have went. But when I sold it with 33k on it I felt I had a rock solid engine.
I agree with ya. These bikes are not meant to go wide open for long periods. This video though was more of a highlight video of my time owning it so far. After the second engine got built up, I had a proper break-in for the first 600 miles before I just completely sent it. I should have included that in this video for sure. They are awesome simple bikes and will last you a long time as long as maintenance is done at the proper interval. Unfortunately the heat and me just absolutely going wide open for hundreds of miles somedays for two years killed that first engine. Gotta live and learn I suppose lol
@@dualdorks I wasn’t being critical of you. My comment was more of my experience and information for anybody thinking about buying a new one of these or any new bike. I see what people do, and I’ve done the same thing myself. In (I think) 2003 my son and I both bought new Yamaha 660 Raptor’s We hot rodded them right out of the gate. Well, both of those always burned oil, and after it was too late, I realized we had done great damage to those engines. That’s why when I bought my XT, I was determined to break it in properly. I’ve owned lots of Motorcycles in my life. That XT was the best bike I’ve ever own.
On your next plan see if you can get to NAF El Centro. We can take you to Glamis, California....the sand buggy capital of the world! Roy, So Cal. Have a good day.

i emphasize when you mentioned leaving WA, we have hands down some of the best and most miles of beautiful riding roads/on and off in the country. i have an adv390 that is getting a bunch of service and upgrades done and i plan on riding the hell out of it this year. thats funny you mentioned the supermoto guys cus my other bike is a husqy 701sm
D, it's been an honor, privilege, and complete blast following the life/death/re-birth of your TDub! One 'understatement' that I can say for sure is: N-E-V-E-R A D-U-L-L M-O-M-E-N-T ! ! ! ! 😂👍 This compilation rocked! As always - Thanks for the antics & Thanks for sharing! 🤘
highly recommend spending $500 to put in a kickstarter following wronglogic's guide, bump starting on sand or mud, at the bottom of a hill, gravel, snow, or wet asphalt, can be a pain in the ass.. and it will always allow you to manually turn the engine and feel out, physically, how smooth it turns over. it causes less wear that the electric start from cold, too, and when you pull out the kick lever you're in a good spot to check the oil level. 6:15 probably should be doing oil changes every 1000 miles, cheap to do and saves money in the long run, no reason it should have completely blown up like that in such a short time without serious neglect i hope the engine has fared better up over 20k and maybe close to 30 now
I freakin love these little bikes. Not sure what it is about them...maybe the utilitarian aspect of them?? Only wished they made them in a 300 as well just to give a little more grunt. But I can't wait to get one.
Great video. @ 61 I own a 2019 KLX250 with less than 600 miles since new. Crappy health forces me to sell it, to heavy in the sand for me. But the TW200 looks like it is easy and low down in sand to sit on and stand up on. Perhaps I will give one a try. Right now my only option is an electric FAT bike in the sand which is a blast but limited in range. Give me $5/gallon fuel over an ebike any day if I can do it.
I own the KLX 300 as well which is basically almost the same as a 250 . It's about the same weight as the TW . It is nice to have a bike low to the ground for the harder stuff
Sam, IDK what your "crappy health" amounts to but fwiw, I'm an older rider also, was too heavy and in declining health.. Google/TH-cam "metabolic syndrome".. I've completely turned my life around..
I used to own a Ural. I was keeping up with the mileage (though its odometer was in kilometers), wanting to get a pic for all the major milestones. I was approaching 33,333 kilometers, all 3s going across the odometer. I looked down and saw 33,329, then went a bit and saw 33,331, went a bit more and saw _______________! What the?!?. The odometer literally fell to pieces right at or just before the magic moment. The numbers just fell out. The next time I went to ride, I looked at the speedometer and the needle was going around the whole face of the speedometer quickly, just spinning through all 360 degrees about once every second. So, for you, at least it was just a video file. You still have the audio and a photo. What a piece of junk that Russian scrap metal was!
Hey man it's been awhile but have been keeping up with some of your vids. Same thing happened to me 3 months ago, ceased the motor. When I transferred departments I turned in my patrol car, used my 2021 Tdub as a daily back and fourth from courthouse, well like you said not good to ride 65+ mph every day for a year and a half🙃, unbelievable brand new bike too. So now been waiting for 3 months for rebuilt motor, unfortunately parts are very hard to get shipped this sucks. Just wanted you to know your absolutely correct, I guess motor really can't handle that kind of riding, still love it though, but damn!
That is a huge bummer man . Hopefully you can get all the parts you need and have it back and going again soon . I ended up buying a used bottom end on ebay and a brand new top end . Fortunately I knew people that had a full machine shop in their garage . The biggest killer for the TW is high RPM over time with heat in the mix too . They will last forever though if we just putt with them and keep up with regular maintenance.
@@dualdorks Yes I agree after replying to you,I got a call from mechanic the parts came in, finally. So any day now I will keep you posted, ride safe looking forward to more vids.

I live in Virginia Beach Virginia have only seen two other t-dubs
Thanks dude Great Tdub videos! Much appreciated!
Cool summary!
Thanks for sharin'!
Such awesome adventures! Props for rebuilding the engine and keeping the TW goin.
I just wanna see a TW with the new R3 engine. An electric motor up front. Some LEDs. Fuel injection. Like a Tenere 300 I guess.
Hi From Ireland.
Love the TW 200 Hope to get one soon,/Honda CT 125 Driver. Cheers.
dude that's not just a tank! that's an extremely rare M247 'Sgt York' DIVAD. it was basically an armored anti-aircraft unit assigned to individual divisions to provide air defense. there's only five left in existence, and you found one. AND HOLY CRAP an M901 ATGM carrier! that's the APC with the back open you rode into.
here's the Wikipedia article on the M247
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M247_Sergeant_York
and the one on the M901 is here- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M901_ITV
My buddy in that ride knew a lot about armor as well and he was super excited to see it. Here is a link from that video where I go inside it .
th-cam.com/video/Ly6l3iuXsT8/w-d-xo.html
After reading that article it sounds like 5 too many : )
Cool find and good catch!
Of course a squid doesn’t recognize when he’s on the object end of a range.
Haha! Just kidding. I loved watching your journey and hope you stay safe and keep it up. Thank you for your videos and service to our country.
That was absolutely cool. What a great bike. Thanks for sharing.
I was going to offer my condolences for having to spend time at China Lake but looks like there is actually some good riding there. Good video.
The riding out here is the best I have ever experienced
seriously great effort mate what a weapon of a bike we ride alot here in tasmania on many different bikes its the same all over the world if ya wheels are spinning your guna be grinning great edit mate cheers
i emphasize when you mentioned leaving WA, we have hands down some of the best and most miles of beautiful riding roads/on and off in the country. i have an adv390 that is getting a bunch of service and upgrades done and i plan on riding the hell out of it this year. thats funny you mentioned the supermoto guys cus my other bike is a husqy 701sm
This is such a good video. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Awesome video 👍
TW200....or any other bike for that matter....Cheaper than a girlfriend or a boyfriend! Nice job! Thanks for posting!
D, it's been an honor, privilege, and complete blast following the life/death/re-birth of your TDub!
One 'understatement' that I can say for sure is: N-E-V-E-R A D-U-L-L M-O-M-E-N-T ! ! ! ! 😂👍
This compilation rocked! As always - Thanks for the antics & Thanks for sharing! 🤘
It wouldn't be a DD video without Dovi in the comment section. Thanks for all the support
@@dualdorks Hahaha Right on Brutha! And you are Very Welcome!!
highly recommend spending $500 to put in a kickstarter following wronglogic's guide, bump starting on sand or mud, at the bottom of a hill, gravel, snow, or wet asphalt, can be a pain in the ass.. and it will always allow you to manually turn the engine and feel out, physically, how smooth it turns over. it causes less wear that the electric start from cold, too, and when you pull out the kick lever you're in a good spot to check the oil level.
6:15 probably should be doing oil changes every 1000 miles, cheap to do and saves money in the long run, no reason it should have completely blown up like that in such a short time without serious neglect
i hope the engine has fared better up over 20k and maybe close to 30 now
I’ve been riding Yamaha Zuma with bent rod for about 40k km.
That's awesome 🤣
Great video Bud! Same terrain as the origin story for me, up here in Vancouver. Love the vids.
Thanks for watching. I now live nearby at Whidbey Island just across the sound.
Recommend an oil cooler and a kick starter
A GREAT video..just fantastic
Dude great video, most informative TW I’ve seen. Thank you, live in Utah? Looks like my state
Thanks for watching. That was recorded mostly in California. The beginning was Washington State. I now back in Washington State
Super good stuff. Thank you.
Awesome! That's what it's all about. Just having fun on a bike you love!
Very much enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing!
yo ride safe man awesome to see a TW on action as always 😍
@@AzPauly Thanks Paul I'll check it out. I suffer from chronic Lyme Disease. It is unknown how long I had it or when I acquired it.
Hello hello, I enjoyed the video, I'm old ( 64 years ), My son & I are planning a ride from Dallas Tex to Yosemite on KLR'S & probably going through Death valley, your adventures look enticing, however I doubt we go that deep on our KLR'S. I was wondering if you know where I can get maps of trails around the big pine/Lone pine areas for light exploring & camping?, any info would be appreciated.
Alltrails is a good app. For finding single-track trails riderplanet.com is a good website too
@@dualdorks Thank you & thank you for your service!
I'm in the Sand Box in the last 1/2 of April, but when I get back, I'll have time, and definitely will have, to come meet you somewhere if you still want to go ride with the Old Guy again. Assuming the world hasn't gone all Fallout on us.
Nice video Dustin!
Great video DD
lol good ol walker valley. always good to see it. Moving off Whidbey this summer to Eastern Washington. I'm taking my final endorsement test tomorrow so hopefully soon I will be putting down the miles like you are. It's been fun watching your videos, you and T Dubs kid inspired me to get a TW. Crazy shit man lol. (btw love your dads comments. "get yer wallet out kid" hahah damn
Trying to get orders to go back then bounce from there to china lake untill it's time to retire
Awesome Bike, awesome video...Thanks. I gotta get me one
I've always loved the TW. Never owned one but I think you represented it well. Good work. Does it really get almost a 100 MPG?
Thanks for watching bud. It probably gets around 85mpg at most and for me if I'm hard on it probably around 70mpg. Stock tank (1.7 gallons) I found out the hard way it goes 122 miles .
Trail riding "smiles per gallon" can't be beat.
When did it transform from blue to green? Bike been through it all! 2 wheels down most of the time. Keep it turning. Great Video!
Oh ya baby. Love it
New to the channel, but I loved this video. Nice work.
wow so many awesome adventures
