Hey Guys! I hope everyone is doing well. I recently switched video editing software and I’m exited to produce better videos for you. I apologize about the audio quality, I cleaned my helmet and the microphone didn’t sound as good when I recorded this video. Hopefully I’ll have this fixed for the next video. Thanks for watching & ride safe!
I'm 67 and bought my used TW last year. When I went to State Farm to insure it they quoted me $17. I said is that per month? They said, no that's per year. When I asked if that includes theft they said no, that would raise it to $25. Per year!
Wow I thought I got a good deal! My insurance even with my truck is high because of my age. Hopefully it will start to go down a bit when I get older. But $17 a year is more then some people spend on breakfast in one day haha
Holy crap. A 1998 TW200 in the Great White North is nearing $500 Canuckistan Pesos per year, IF you have a good driving record. And we only get 5 months of riding in a good year. What a scam 😒
I have a 2021 TW on order. Hopefully it will arrive soon. The accessories are taking over my living room and my wife is looking forward to my obsession moving to the garage.
I know I’m exited for you! Haha oh boy atleast your wife is okay with it for now! Hopefully it comes soon otherwise you’ll be in the garage with the parts 😂
Just picked up a 2018 TW200 about a week ago. Only had 420 miles on it. Plus a handful of upgrades. Still had the chalk lines on the tires. I’ve put on over 200 miles in a week. My 1st bike since the 90s and I’m loving it.
I 100% agree with you the TW200 is my second bike. I have a Honda Fury which I love! Every time I take the TDub for a ride I love it even more. I never thought I could have this much fun on a motorcycle. Love your maintenance videos! You have saved me a lot of time and money!
Definitely a great second bike, it’s cheap enough where having it as a second bike isn’t bad. And it’s fun to tinker with and take for quick trips around town. I’m glad you liked the maintenance video, when I first started out riding all I had was TH-cam. It helped me out a lot along the way, so I’m happy I can provide some good content for you guys!
I have one coming in May. My other motorcycle is a 2019 BMW 1250 GSA. I’m 70 in July and very experienced but want this as a toy bike for the gnarlies and reduced weight. Thanks for your video.
The GS is a kick ass bike, but the Tw200 would definitely be easier in gnarly terrain. Much less weight to throw around! Thanks for watching, hopefully you find a good deal on one 😃
Great Video Brother!! You know I love the TW, that is why I have bought two of them. I am gonna have to buy more soon cause my two older kids now know how to ride it. They are a great starter bike and a great last bike. It's one of the only machines that could be your first motorcycle and your last motorcycle.
one cool tidbit is that if you ever destroy the engine, track down the motor from a yamaha xt 225. it pretty much bolts up in place of the old motor. it has more power and a 6th gear. if you get a specific model year then you don't even need a new clutch cable. depending on gearing it ups the top speed to around 84 mph.
If only Yamaha would take everyone’s advice and bump up the engine displacement just a bit + another gear! I didn’t know it was possible to do that, but if there’s ever a day where I need to replace the engine I would certainly give that a try!

Hey Jason! Thanks so much for your feedback. I’m happy you like the new angle, like you said it helps break up the video. Also I totally agree that it’s important to have B role footage. I’m going to be working out getting some footage soon. I’ve actually just switched video editor software, so I’m trying to get used to that. But thanks so much for the comment, I hope you liked that video! 😃
$1500 to $3K? Not this year. The used market seems to start at around $3K and lots of people are trying to get more out of them used than a new one costs.
Yeah definitely seems like people are trying to get more for their use Tdubs this year. I’ve definitely seen a few for 1500 or so, but they are hard to come by! Thanks for watching 🤘🏼
@@dangerdanadv1445 Probably not worth that price, I'm sure if you are patient you can find a better deal! That's a decent amount of miles & age for that price lol. at that point I would just buy a new one!
I have a crf450rl I just bought. Done all the mods. Vortex. Pipe. Seat concepts. And I love it. It’s awesome. That being said, just put down a deposit on a Tdub and I’m waiting for delivery. I’ve owned close to 25 motorcycles in my life. And the Tdub was the most fun. I can’t see myself buying another bike now that I have these two. If anyone is considering Tdub, just buy it. You’ll love it.
Wow ! .... 10 seconds into your video and a damn commercial ! I did like the video and the TW 200. I currently own Two new 2023 Honda CT125 Trail bikes
It’s crazy to me how none of these reviews talk about how good it is in sand. Here in AZ there’s lots of sandy washes to explore. I grew up with a grand dads Yamaha big wheel and my fathers XT225 just mountain goating in the back woods. It’s my turn to purchase a bike after about 10 or so years off 2 wheels, I am going to get a new XT250 today
Keep in mind that when oil changes are recommended at 3000 miles, you can go twice that much if you're using synthetic oil. The recommendations are way underrated. In Europe they double the mileage between oil changes. Oil is much better than it was in the 1950s when all these recommendations came about. Don't change it every 1500 miles. The oil is still good if you go to 6000 miles.
I have a grom that I dumped a bunch of mods into to make it into what I wanted for in town running and in town work commuting. I REALLY want a tw200 to use for a camping/adventure bike.
You should definitely get one! My first bike was a Grom, I love & miss that bike! I was really considering getting the gen 3 grom that just came out. But for camping and adventure the Tdubs is perfect! It’s bigger and a little more powerful then the grom. Much more practical for carrying camping equipment 🌲🤙🏼
Absolutely worth buying and I should be a TW 200 salesman because the bike sells itself literally 🤷 in 6 months 5 people I know are looking to buy one 😂
I've been to 4 dealerships in the past 2 weeks and they're all gone, and all the units coming have deposits on them! Affordable freedom is in high demand.
Yeah I know! So many people have commented and said they can’t find any. Hopefully there will be a restock soon, so you can get your hands on one! But they are definitely worth the wait 🤘🏼🏍
You should’ve put a link to the inexpensive motorcycle parts I looked on your transcript and it doesn’t show up. So can you tell me the name of that parts house for an expensive motorcycle parts again?
Mr Mostro Moto: Your channel is a pleasure and you are a class act ! You have a very cool, “ChrisFix” flair about you which is a compliment. Stay safe my friend!
I’m 23 now too haha, I’ve been wanting a Tdubs since sophomore year of high school; I’m surprised at how inexpensive they are! I’m gonna look around for one 👀

I think the real question is "can you buy a new tw200?" They seem to be selling like hotcakes for some odd reason...they don't stay at the dealerships too long
Yeah I’ve noticed that at my local dealerships. I think dual sports are pretty popular right now. People are in the “apocalypse” vibe I guess haha. Or maybe people have more time to get out & explore!
@@MostroMoto I think a lot of it is COVID. Someone at a dealership told me that many people have a few grand in disposable cash because they haven't been travelling, etc. They don't have enough to pay for a larger new bike, but the smaller, cheaper bikes and used bikes are selling like crazy.
@@MostroMoto unfortunately in my case I dont think my local dealership will have their order of tw200s for quite awhile...not a whole lot of used ones if any for sale around here...but I can wait a bit longer

Hey man great review I’m a beginner to riding and I want a bike to rip around in my neighborhood I had a monster moto 80cc but that did not last long and it broke so I’m looking for something new would you recommend this bike to a 13 year old boy who is around 5ft tall and 85 pounds Thanks!
Hey thanks for watching! I definitely think that this is a great bike for a beginner rider. And it’s something you can keep for a while and grow into. The power is nothing crazy, but plenty to learn on. It’s a great bike to learn how to work on motorcycles because of how simple it is. And it has a pretty low weight & seat height so it’s something you could learn how to manage. It is a bit smaller compared to other bikes but it’s still a full sized motorcycle so just keep that in mind. If you can go to the dealership and sit on one I would recommend that. But overall it’s a great bike, and when your old enough to get your license it’s perfect for taking the class & test with. Also because it has been around forever you can find so many parts for cheap. So if you ever drop it or want to customize it it won’t be to expensive! I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions. 🤙🏼😃
That is funny you mentioned that bike. I was also looking into that at one point. It honestly depends on where you live and what you need it for. For commuting in a city the Segway would be great for short rides. But it does have a very limited range. Also some city’s don’t allow certain E-bikes. The TW200 is far more capable, and will allow you to travel much farther. But you will also need a motorcycle license, registration and insurance. The Segway seems like a great bike but it does come with its downsides. Either way I’m sure you would love whichever you go with!
Did I hear that right? You pay $75 a _year_ for full coverage insurance?? Motorcyclists in the States sure have it good when it comes to cheap insurance: here in British Columbia I'm paying about $450 US a year for my TW200... :(
@@MostroMoto The funny thing is that in BC the insurance cost is strictly based on engine size, so any bike over 1100 CCs has the same basic rate. So a 1200cc sportbike, Harley Sportster, or adventure bike are all about the same (and ridiculously expensive, like $2 grand a year)
Great video. Very informative with excellent video. You might want to reconsider hauling gasoline on the carry rack. Having experienced one serious accident on my street bike (car turning left in front of me) I would not want to add extra fuel into the screeching mess. Just my opinion. Thanks again for the great video!
I appreciate the feedback, that is definitely something to consider. It’s certainly nice having an extra gallon of gas, but maybe not worth the risk. The container seems really well built, but I wonder how it would react in a accident. Thanks for commenting!
@@MostroMoto probably best just to better monitor your fuel in the tank. I hard smackdown could rupture the plastic tank and splash you with fluids. Scary thought.

Seems like prices are super high just about everywhere right now! I've noticed that many people are selling there older bikes for extra cash in these times, hopefully things will go back to normal soon!
You can thank the pandemic for the shortage/gouging of motos, weight equipment, lawnmowers , firearms , etc. Some folks are still fair , but it seems most are looking to get over.... nationally.
Every dealer in my state is out of Tdubs. Can anyone give me a ballpark total if I ordered one from a dealer? Ive been wanting one for a while. I'm looking for used also but there is nothing within a 300 Mile radius atm. It's frustrating... Anyone?
If you order a bike you will most likely pay more then if you found one on a showroom floor. All the dealer fees, registration etc will be probably around $6000 depending on the dealer and where you live.
Can confirm $6000 new. My bill reads 4799 500 freight 100 setup Rest is tax and reg im guessing total of 5800,6000 including my 200 dwn pymt on one shipping in July
They are both great bikes. However the KLX will be something you can grow into and still have good power. The TW200 is a bit slower but more forgiving to new riders. Also it’s a tank off-road!
It seems like everyone is in search of a Tdubs & nobody has any in stock. Hopefully now that people are going back to work they will start to come back in stock!
Prices seem to definitely be coming up in the dual sport market, especially for these Tdubs! These bikes have become very popular over the last couple years!
So many YT videos of the TWO 200 recently. Seems it the flavor of the moment. I own a 2020 KTM 790 Adventure S, Love the bike (I also own a 2016 Motto Guzzi V7 Stone and a Harley Super Low 1200T). But I could envision at some point getting a TW 200 as a bike that I could toss around in all kinds of wilderness without fear of destroying it in the process, haha. It seems to definitley belong to a cult of diverse riders. wonder if they will ever hold a yearly TW 200 Rally ? hahahahahahahahahahahaha ...
Yes I have noticed that too, the TW200 is certainly a unique bike. I’ve seen pictures of TW200 meet ups with 20 or more Tdubs. Definitely a bike that stands out from the crowd!
I took my license test on one i hated the thing because it was a turd and i drove a "cool" bike at the time a gsxr and had mx bikes....flash forward to me now 34yo and i actually got money down on one shipping to the dealer. My dad just got one during covid and i asked "why the hell you get that thing" well, took it ona few rides in the trails and roads by his house and it was really fun. It's slow but that's part of the fun. Its low center of gravity is unlike any bike and its seat is truly the best dirtbike seat. Its quick enough to get goin up to speed. Kind of reminds me of a larger pitbike on the road. And in the woods it feels more quad than bike because of the tires. I bet if you aired down this things unstoppable. My last bike was a drz400sm. Also great bike but I'd rather a tw for exploring and woods it's so low and slow you don't need to pay as much attention. Can take in the scenery
Lots of luck finding a used one that isn't having mechanical issues in BC Canada . I have been told I got to wait till the 2022's drop. So I put 500$ down and have to wait.Sigh
Yeah it seems impossible for people to get there hands on these bikes. Not sure if it is because of high demand or Covid-19. But pretty crazy how long people need to wait! Hopefully you can get a 2022 in a reasonable time! Good Luck
@@brentbockbrader8513 Yup that's what I originally was using. I saved almost 100 bucks when I switched! definitely worth calling around to see different company's prices :)
Probably depends on what all you have insured, I have progressive and they insured my 2nd car a 1969 Porsche 914(don't let the name fool you its a vw) for 200 bucks years. They said you cant drive both cars at once and that is why the low price.
I was surprised to. The other bikes I’ve owned were never that cheap, but I’ve heard dual sports are generally cheaper to insure than other motorcycles.
I think it all depends on how much coverage you have on your bike . Some people may bare bones ,and some my have much better coverage . On my TW I pay about $ 180.00 , but I also have a million dollar umbrella policy. Lots of variables.

Yeah that’s correct, just 75 bucks. That’s crazy how much it is for you. I can only imagine what a sports bike would cost!
Definitely true, I might consider looking into an alternative way of having more gas. Possibly a larger fuel tank instead
@@davidharrell693 Not too risky off road. On road, there's gas stations.
@@MostroMoto some other Yamaha tanks will fit. Aftermarket prices are crazy. I would find a motorcycle dismantler & buy from them.
Wear are you riding? Looks great
The roads in this video are a mix between New York and CT. South Salem, NY. It’s a really nice area that has some great scenic roads!
@@MostroMoto that’s cool, I’m just north of Boston, want to hit some of those south New England trails and the trans mass, will hit you up if we head that way
Yeah for sure, I love Boston. I have a medical condition and I go to Boston for there amazing hospitals. It’s such a beautiful place to be!
@@MostroMoto medical condition, I can fix that for ya , a 10mm socket and short extension will remove the TW from your ass! Hahaha sorry you walked right into that one.
South of Boston has some good trails, but I haven’t run them in years, will I find you on Facebook, we need a local or New England page
@@fairwind8222 haha that was a pretty good one! I'm not on Facebook at the moment but looking into creating an account. I have a Instagram (@mostromoto) that's a good place to see other pictures I take and also to chat. Hopefully one day I can take the bike to Boston and do some exploring!
Where did you find all of the plastics for $15-$20 per piece??
I’ve seen people selling plastics on eBay for pretty cheap, or on procycle you can get an entire plastics kit brand new for around $300 bucks 😃
I WISH I could buy a used TW for those prices...prices inflated where I live unfortunately
Some folks are still fair , but it seems most are looking to get over.... nationally.
I’m waiting for the TW1000RR.
Hahaha that would be hilarious!
My bill reads
4799
500 freight
100 setup
Rest is tax and reg im guessing total of 5800,6000 including my 200 dwn pymt on one shipping in July
I'm still stuck between the tw200 and the klx 300
They are both great bikes. However the KLX will be something you can grow into and still have good power. The TW200 is a bit slower but more forgiving to new riders. Also it’s a tank off-road!
@@MostroMoto gotcha, yeah it'd be my first bike so that's the dilemma.
None are available right now pretty much all across canada!!!
It seems like everyone is in search of a Tdubs & nobody has any in stock. Hopefully now that people are going back to work they will start to come back in stock!
It's like asking if you should buy dune buggy instead of a car...
Not sure where you are located, but a sub $4000 TW200 in AZ is considered a unicorn!
Prices seem to definitely be coming up in the dual sport market, especially for these Tdubs! These bikes have become very popular over the last couple years!
Have more than 20K odometer miles on a TW200.
Street and otherwise. From British Columbia to California.
What's the top speed on this bike?
The top speed is around 75 mph depending on your weight, I’ve got a top speed video you should check out!
@@MostroMoto u must have upgraded sprockets. My 87 tw200 tops out around 55-60 mph!
@@mattgehrke Yeah, I have owned 5 TW's and none of them could sustain 75 mph, even with upgrades. Maybe going downhill with a 45 mph backwind LOL!
Should I? I can't find any lol... Alaska can't get any. Washington dealers won't sell to out of state folks... sooo... ya...
Good Luck
@@MostroMoto I see some via Facebook in the TW WORLD but that's across the border and out dicktator won't let us drive. Flying is OK though 😕
May I ask who you have insurance with?
I have insurance with Allstate, I recently switched from progressive and saved a bit of money! 💰
@@MostroMoto I have progressive and I am paying way more than you! I need to switch.
Wow,great. I think to buy its,if yamaha take it come to Vietnam. Thanks your video.
And,how much? Answer to me,please. Thanks
I paid around 5k for my bike, however each dealership will be different. Good luck 👍🏼
Now $5.00 to fill up!🙂 Thanks uncle joe and aunt kami!!!
Lol yup! 💰
Dude says how reliable the bike is and in the next clip he shows the oil filter full of metal???
The answer is always TW200
Which is your insurance company???
I recently switched from Progressive to Allstate! I was pleasantly surprised at how much I saved. I bundle my Tw200 with my Ducati
you remind me of a guy i know named vinny
Is his last name bachagaloop?
I have no clue how your insurance is 75 bucks
I was surprised to. The other bikes I’ve owned were never that cheap, but I’ve heard dual sports are generally cheaper to insure than other motorcycles.
I think it all depends on how much coverage you have on your bike . Some people may bare bones ,and some my have much better coverage . On my TW I pay about $ 180.00 , but I also have a million dollar umbrella policy. Lots of variables.
@@michaelbayliss1794 Totally True! even your deductibles will play a role in the total premium!
Thanks For Watching!
It's much lighter than a ton of bricks.
10,000 miles isnt much of a milestone for any bike, Im sure these would last a hell of a lot longer.
That’s true, but still a good amount of miles for the little 196cc engine!
I LOVE THAT FAT FKN TIRE BRO LOL !!!!!
Gotta love how thick it is haha!
