I totally get that this method might be a bit controversial. Some people truly do enjoy folding laundry and having neat and tidy drawers - so much respect for that. By skipping the folding step, I have finally gotten my laundry under control, and really, the only right way to do something is the way that works best for you! Thanks for watching!
Dang I wish I knew this method when my girls were small! Also you finally convinced me that it's ok not to have decor pillows on my bed 😃 I now make my bed everyday without feeling bad that it's not "pretty" . I use a nice quilt and it looks " good enough" 🧡 I enjoy all your videos
I really want to make myself give this a try. I get stuck in the ‘perfection or not at all’ mindset. All my drawers are perfectly folded and neat as a pin but half empty because there are baskets of clean clothes in every corner of the house just waiting for me 😩
Richelle Nolan I totally agree about not having loads of pillows & cushions on the bed. I’ve never understood why some people have so many. I would find it a pain to take them all off the bed every night, especially when I’m tired.
Lol. Just folded my kids laundry while I watched this. It’s been a game changer for me to wash laundry grouped by the room in which it belongs. Then bring the basket of clean laundry immediately to the room to sort or fold straight into the drawers so that I don’t leave little piles of clean laundry everywhere.
My SO is a very untidy person. He will rarely help with housework. I started to fold and hang his clothes SO BADLY on purpose, so it started to annoy him. One day he just said: "Please just put my laundry on the bed, i will put it away myself." Because he thinks that Im unable to do it and I think thats genius 😂
Love!! This is exactly what I do at my house now. Learned it from the MinimalMom channel. I gave up the old fashioned method almost a year ago and it has been a game changer!! My mom was a laundry nazi and it was sooo hard for me to give in and stop the useless folding, but now that I have, there is no going back😁 my husband thinks this is very odd, and he still folds if he does a load, but I say to each his or her own. My time is too precious to spend it on laundry. Keeping clothes and towels minimal makes it easier too!! My 4yo and 8yo both put away their own clothes( that required about a week of training). Also, if you each have your own basket, you can wash loads according to person 1x a week and that makes sorting a breeze. Your clean load goes back in your basket and off to your bedroom. Hope that makes sense. Have a blessed weekend!🙌
Where has this channel been all my motherhood?! This is like help to me. I never have hands on help with anything so tips that save me time and stress are help! I can't wait to not fold my mountains of laundry in the morning!
I love this, well part of this. I've been konmari-ing for about 6 months and I'm basically over it because my husband is 6'7" and built like a footballer and trying to konmari his clothes is exhausting. I think konmari works for small clothes/people. I've been thinking for the last two months that I need to hang everything, so as soon as hibernation stops I'm lifting the hanging space up and making another rod underneath for all his clothes.
I do this exact same thing! I do all of the work in the laundry room too, but the only thing I do different is I have 2 smaller size baskets (about half the size of your big white on you have) and I put them at the foot of the dryer to do my sorting as things come out. As I take things out of the dryer, I set my hang up items aside and then sort all of the laundry by adults/kids into the smaller baskets. I then hang up all the hang up clothes at once and take the sorted baskets to their rooms. It has made my life so much easier!!
I love how you have made your system work for you!! I have always folded absolutely everything. A few years ago my teenage daughter suggested that we don't fold our rags but just put them in a bin in the cupboard instead. I was pretty much mortified with the thought of it but I okayed it because at that point she was in charge of most of the folding so I wanted to give her a little break. I absolutely love doing it that way now! I've come along a little bit further and now I don't fold my little girl's underwear anymore. LOL! Maybe I'll try to leave a few more things unfolded. :-)
Oh, I am glad I read this. I don't have much drawer space but do have lots of cupboard space and am so tired of folding kitchen towels and napkins. I don't fold are clothes already. I am getting a tall skinny container and doing this now!
Love it😜 We do ours very similarly. With socks, we keep it simple by having 1 color for each age..... so there's NO MATCHING! ....just throw them in the draw and they can grab a pair super easy even tho they arent "matched". Noone is having to pre-match and losing a sock to make a pair doesn't exist anymore😉
Total game changer for me was to stop paring socks. I buy black socks only, one type of thin ones, one type thick. Each have their side of the sock drawer. One gets a hole? In the trash it goes. No need to darn it as there's plenty just like it already in the drawer!
My kids are my laundry put awayers. The oldest is 9 and he’s in charge but my 6 yo is getting just as good. The 3 yo does what she can. They put away everything after I fold it. Since I’ve been doing a load a day it’s really not that time consuming. I hang all shirts, including the kids’, and my husband likes his pants hung. I have no dressers in my room and my 3 kids share one. All our socks and underwear goes in bins on shelves. The best laundry time saver I ever did was throw out all my boys’ socks. I went and bought 3 packs of the same Hanes socks (they are the same size.) No more hunting pairs of socks since they all match. Because the kids are responsible for putting it all away they wouldn’t dare pull it all out to mess it up. Lol.
I did this too! My son. Who’s 4 actually went in and dumped out his shirts to fold them himself! Now my 3 and 4 year old fold their own clothes (sometimes).
Yes! I just thought , why am I not storing pyjamas in the bathroom. I love this idea of no folding but not sure I can handle looking in my drawers at unfolded clothes, going to start with pjs and hanging sweaters and see how I go.
Finally the secret no folding method!! And what was that?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣genious!!! Im glad it works for you, and im going to try it here, but im not sure i can! When i see a drawer like this, i dont feel good! But im going to try because its an amazing way to save time! Thanks for sharing! (And im sorry for my english! Im not a native speaker!)
Thank you for this! I love your method! I kind of do this too! I am 59 years old and I work Mon to Fri 9 to 5, and sometimes I do laundry throughout the week or all the laundry on the weekend but I keep piling clean laundry in baskets, I'll keep doing it your way! 🥰
Steph!!! Well guess what, thank you from one slob to another..i tried the no fold method and i love it!!! I commented earlier and said i would try. I no longer have mounds of clean clothes everywhere. I'm done in nooo time. I know some ppl just can imagine doing that method, but in the season I'm in it works!! I homeschool year around...5 kids one is 1yr old. i am the teacher, gym coach, lunch lady, janitor etc... My kids and i wear gym shorts, sweats or leggings daily. So thank you and to your sweet sis!!
My kiddo is 14 so I just seperate our clothes into 3 baskets, and we each put away our own clothes. My daughters puts her clothes away on Sundays, so she'll usually have 2 or 3 baskets of clothing to put away...but the baskets are in her room and that's on her. You're right, it's all about finding what works for your own household.
I do my laundry while I watch you. I only use the tumble dryer for towels, sheets, socks, pjs, undershirts and underwear. Most everything else I hang up on hangers and when it’s dry I hang it directly in the closet. I have two kids and a husband and so far this is the fastest way of doing laundry for me. I love your no fold idea for things like underwear and pjs.
Thank you for a great channel. No folding is a great point. To my mother's horror I don't fold my underwear. I truly see no point but to each his own. I do have some order in my drawers despite because I just put it in a box in the drawer (underwear, socks, and stockings). Shoe boxes a great for this! I wanted to add that you can do the post washing sorting easier by using laundry bags. You could have one for the children's underwear and one for socks. It's much much easier to sort when it's already collected. Also I practice the 'direct sorting method' essentially this means that I don't have additional laundry bags in my home. I only have the sorting station so things can just get washed straight from the bin. I know this might not be feasible for small kids but maybe they can learn to put their socks and underwear in the small bag hanging next the laundry bag. Or maybe they can learn to take the laundry to the laundry room and sort it when they have been bathed. I had to train myself in the habit of not just dumping laundry wherever but it's a really nice anti-clutter-habit to fall into.
Thank you for this! I took half an hour the other day to organise my drawers and wardrobe to work for this method (which was pruning my clothes I don’t need), hanging up dresses, tops and coats for me, and hanging up dresses and coats for my kids) and then putting the other things back in the drawers. It’s so much quicker to put everything away now, thank you again!
I have taught my kids to take their clothes off RIGHT SIDE OUT. If they take off wrong they have to fix before jumping in bath or bed. THIS has saved me sooo much time. Annnnddd they will appreciate when they have to do laundry one day. And their spouse will appreciate too. I love not having to fix clothes and turn them inside out.
This is basically what I do for me and my husband but I hang everything up for my son apart from underwear which go in baskets in his wardrobe 😊 saves so much time!
This is the content I love as you inspire us to make changes that help us make the most of our time. Anything that works for someone is worth sharing. Thanks for doing that.
Amazing I think you just saved my life lol I will let you know how I make out !! I have baskets of laundry everywhere because I told them all with all intentions of putting them away and life happens they don't get put away but instead ripped apart by all my kids and I end up wasting hours folding clothes . Thank you so much for this I seriously think this will be life changing from r me and my family❤️
I think this is a particularly good system with little kids! With just two adults in our home, folding doesn't take very long and I don't mind it. I did want to tell you that I've been following along with FlyLady since you did your series last month. And I'm SO HAPPY with how clean my house is! All those grungy places that I wasn't cleaning because they were overwhelming? Turns out most of them look soooo much better in just 15 minutes. Who knew?? :)
@@TheSecretSlob this might help me with my procrastination habits which is Landry and putting clothes away and definitely need to decutter it also doesn't help that I was raised by a pack rat and want to save everything because I think I might need it one day and I despise sorting socks
Great idea! When my kids were little we just kept a basket of socks that came out of the dryer... Everyone just took what they needed. Pairing and folding socks took the longest time!!
I don’t fold undergarments which are kept in a bin the bathroom but I do fold everything else. My ocd self has to keep like pjs together (tops/bottoms) Anything that can be worn outside of the house is hung up. So basically dresser is for pjs, socks, leggings, school accessories etc. Love your channel 💕
I actually use her method to fold all of our clothes. We don't have enough closet space to hang everything up, like I used to be able to do. But it is nice seeing other people's ways of doing their laundry and what works best for them.
Love this, my mum qoukd iron everything when I was a kid - even underwear! I swiftly moved to not ironing my kids clothes as my sons would rummage for their favourite t shirt and everything would end up crumpled 🤦♀️after that I did like you, I just dumped it straight in the drawer and I if anything needed ironing (school shirts, or my girl's dresses) I would iron the night before, but half the time the boys stuff didn't need ironing! Love your comment about the leggings, I always joked my fat bottom would smooth out any creases 😂
lol! my mom is the same way, I tell her she doesn't have to fold underwear when she helps me here, but she insists, :) lol, thats pretty much how I feel about the leggings too! haha
Great method! I’ve stopped folding my pajamas a long time ago! I just didn’t have time one day to fold and put them in the drawer and thought, why am I even folding them to begin with! So yes, things that can just go into a drawer I don’t fold. 😀😊
I do the same thing. I also try to have us only use 1 bath towel each and once it is dry I hang it back on each person's hook instead of folding it. I have spares put away but I always feel so accomplished when I don't have to get into those! It is my fun little game I play! I am tired of folding kitchen towels and napkins but I read a comment below that I think is going to work for me to stop doing that too.
I like your method. I would definitely do this if we had more drawer space. I have to fold to fit more in the space we have, but I think your method is smart. Thanks for the video
🎉 OK, I'm starting this today! Well, it's nearly midnight so tomorrow will do. LOL! I'm a grad student, so it's just me for now...no kiddos or a hubby [I'm divorced]. What I'm thinking is how much more time I can put toward other things, like school or the decluttering I'm also trying to do. The funny thing is that I don't always get things folded, to begin with, and then I give myself crap about it. Not anymore! LOL!
Laundry room looks great and looks like it is very practical too. I couldn't do this. We iron everything, except towels and underwear. I do only iron one side of most things, the steam will get trough. I would look very wrinkly at work I guess. But it takes a lot of time that we don't really have.
Totally love it. I do this since I saw the minimal mom talk about it. We have an IKEA kallax shelf wich works perfectly for us since it has four cubbys in a row and the kids have one book for pants, one for sweaters, one for shirts and one for the things they will wear again underwear is in a drawer beside it and pyjamas in a bathroom drawer. Since then they are easier able to pick out their own clothes and also put them away themselves. Before it meant I had to refold half the things. It saves me so much time, energy and good mood. I just dump everything on the bed while they change into their pyjamas and we are done so quickly. With three kids I don't get by with one load a day. I do one load of clothes a day and sheets and towels are extra. Also sheets are more than one load for us. Even when I don't do all the beds on one day. I wonder if my washing machine is smaller. We do not wash everything everyday and I wonder how others get by with less loads.
I am sure as my kids and their clothes grow I will need to do more loads, maybe an extra for sheets and towels like you say. for now, this works pretty well, I do an extra if there is an 'accident'.
Love it! Thanks for sharing! I don't ball socks up like that anymore. I just stack the pairs on top of each other and put them in the drawer. They generally stay together! Another few seconds saved!
Yeah, balling them up like that stretches out the ankle of one sock. It may not seem like it now because their feet are tiny, but wait until baby boy gets bigger and the socks get longer!
When I buy socks I’ve been trying to get duplicates of what I have in a limited color palette so that pairing things up is easier/quicker. Sorting socks is the worst!
Everyone has to do what works for them. I could NEVER not fold my laundry. Fits so much better in the drawers And, I cant imagine washing my darks and lights together. That is why clothes get dingy. We had 7 children and I did at least 3 loads daily. Folded each load directly out of the dryer. love your laundry room....
I only do laundry for one, but I wash everything together and nothing gets dingy. I don't sort beyond towels vs clothes. I think clothing these days is more colorfast than it used to be.
@@katietatey The last time I throw everything together was in the eighties and everything became the same grey color. That made me afraid to do it again.
I'm glad that you've found a system that works for you. For us, my 7 and 9 yr old girls would be a hot mess in the morning if their clothes in their drawers weren't folded. It would take them twice as long to get ready because they'd always be searching for that 1 shirt that they couldn't live without.
Woot! First at 5mins. 💕 So I totally agree that most clothes won't have wrinkles when they're not folded. BUT I've minimized enough to have only 6 outfits for each of my children; as in a top and coordinating bottom. SO I do need to fold in order to have a top & bottom to easily grab. My oldest two are 9 and 7 and they fold and put away their matches. My youngest two are 4 and 2 so it's easy to have an outfit for them (or daddy) to grab. My laundry schedule: M sheets T rags and towels W children's clothes Th cloth diapers F mine and my husband's clothes Sat cloth diapers And yes, we have such little clothes and rewear things two days in a row that all those things fit into one load! 🙌🏻
I've only just recently found your channel, and can i just say... You are literally me! Except I'm still a secret slob! 😫 You have given me so much inspiration though, thank you so much for putting yourself out there to help others! I actually have hope now! 😉🥰 x
I totally do this method already! I even leave everything inside out like your sister! I thought it was just my 'lazy' method of washing but now I agree it's smart! I also have three kids and I don't have the time for folding.
I'm going to try this. I don't know why I haven't already. It's not a new idea to me Jordan Page and Clutterbug don't fold either. I fold my shirts instead of hanging them. I use a flip-fold to make it faster. Love your channel. I'm trying to not be a slob anymore and have found your channel very helpful.
I think whatever works for the individual is what matters. I usually fold my clothes because of the space I have for them is limited. I normally doing while I’m watching TV in the evening. Another thing I do is dry my clothes in the garden. I limit the dryer use to a minimum because it damages the clothes and uses a lot of electricity (the electricity bill in the winter is certainly higher ha!)
I like this & am going to recommend it to some friends. It kind of depends on your lifestyle and the kinds of clothes you need to wear - except for now during virus-lockdown, I work in an office full time and need clothes that are a little more dressy. But for knockaround clothes, your method is great! When I was young, a friend's mom shared a tip with me, to wash clothes inside out & leave them that way until you wear them - that way, you know if it's the first or second wear for that sweater, t-shirt, pair of jeans, etc. It's a bit like the "turn your clothes hangars backwards to tell if something has been worn" strategy. Kon Mari doesn't work for my t-shirts because I can't tell them apart in the drawer: they're all navy blue & just have different designs on them, LOL. Thanks Steph!
I've been using a no fold method for kids clothes since the beginning! For Christmas this year, I gave myself the gift of never matching socks again!!!😍🤣 My two kiddos with same sized feet got 3 dozen black socks to share between them. And my oldest got 2 dozen pairs of white socks with grey bottoms. So I only have two types of socks to sort through. Black ones go in one bucket. White ones go in another bucket. No matching, folding, rolling....nada! I've never loved life more.🤣
Thank you I appreciate you I'm a slob too I didn't know what to do with everything so I was hanging it all up or leaving it all in a pile I'm subscribing keep it up show me how to do other things in a small room like books and etc shoes please I'll be looking forward to Seymour
This method is only for people with a lot of space..if you live in a small apartment..folding is key..you will have so much more space, I am done with folding in 5-7 minutes..it doesn't take long actually..but it's a good technique for people with a lot of space and storage space..
Kids and baby clothes get cleaner (spilled food, mud etc) if you turn right side out before washing. If you are doing it anyways it's better do before putting in the washing machine. I have 3 little kids as well (5, 3 and 4 months) and I don't fold a lot of it either :) So quick and since it is so quick it's less tempting to put it off.
Ahh I do this too! Underwear gym clothes and leggings don’t need to be folded! It’s better just chucked in the drawers than piling up corners of every room!! It’s all about us letting go of perfection and that time wasted folded can be devoted to precious time for yourself! Xx
We do something similar. Our laundry room has a cabinet built under the counter that has 4 laundry baskets, one for each person in our family. When a load comes out of the drier, I fold and put away the towels right away, and then I sort the clothes into the baskets. I hang my shirts and will fold and put away my husband’s stuff if his baskets get too full, but I never fold the kids stuff. They just dig through their baskets and find what they want to wear, and get dressed right in the laundry room. It’s like a family closet. It works for us!
Sure enough, this is very similar to what I do! After we had our second baby I just kept getting overwhelmed with the clean laundry and leaving it in baskets for days. Finally I sorted out the kids clothes from the parents clothes and just threw their clothes into the appropriate drawers. Then I tossed my underwear into its drawer and gave my t-shirts a hasty fold so they'd fit in their drawer. That left only a few t-shirts and boxers of my husband's. I enjoy taking the time to fold these and place them neatly in his drawer, Konmari style. But the rest of our stuff really doesn't need it!
Steph, do you find that you end up wasting that time you saved not folding when you go to find a complete outfit? That's why I do the Kon-Mari thing in our drawers. I love seeing everything at a glance and I don't have to dig to find a coordinating outfit. But on the other hand, I hate having to dig through a basket too because let's be honest, putting away used to take 5-7 business days...right?!?!
This is a great question! I started this laundry method about a year ago. At that time I also reduced our clothing and towel inventory. With a smaller inventory, I can see what I have easily and make selections easily. It also keeps things from wrinkling if there's not a bunch of items all crammed up in the drawers. I hope this helps! It's one of my favorite hacks!!🙌
I was going to say the same as Gina, I have a pretty small wardrobe, I hang my shirts so I can see those and then I mostly wear black leggings. I don't fit into my jeans yet post baby, but i do a have a couple of those as well. Less is more!
The Secret Slob you’ll laugh, but I only own three pair of Jeans, I wear two against each other, the third I keep new as a spare if one of my others tear. I also own only two sweaters, and three polo’s (which really need to be replaced) and a few T-shirts. I just don’t need more, heck if I have an entire drawer full of clothes I forget I have them since I only wear two pair of clothes against each other. Less is more in my case. Plus I also rather spend my money on books then on clothes. 😜
Steph!! I'm def doing this! I already do it for pjs and undies. My boys wear basketball shorts in summer and warm up pants in winter. Girls wear shorts and leggings. Why why am i folding!?!? I have clothes piled on the loveseat. I'm def trying this method!
I could totally do this when my kid is old enough to mess up his drawers lol and it makes so much sense to put up shirts! I was already doing sweaters.
I put containers on the bedroom closet shelves so we can just throw undies and socks in , with no folding. Most everything else gets hung up, quickly, towels get rolled. A load a day makes it easy to manage. tfs 💗
I quit sorting. Now I do one person’s load at a time and a separate load for sheets and another separate load for towels. I don’t keep a lot of extra sheets or towels. I wash them, and put them back on the bed or bathroom towel racks. No folding needed. I don’t consider laundry complete until it’s put away. I usually do 4 loads per week. Every 3 months, I do an extra load for blankets. I hang shirts and pants. For my socks, I learned the habit of clipping them together with sock clips when I take them off and putting them in a large, mesh laundry bag that has a loop for hanging. I have command hooks on the back of my bedroom door that holds my mesh bags, and I just toss them in the sock mesh bag . I do the same with my bras-except no need to clip. I use a large, zippered lingerie laundry bag rather than a mesh bag for bras, so the hooks don’t snag on anything (Container Store or online purchase). I keep a wheeled square cart (with handle lowered) on the floor in my bedroom closet as my hamper. (Bought at Staples). My husband has one on his side of the closet also. My Laundry and Partial cleaning day is Friday. I toss my mesh bags of socks and bras into the hamper, pull up the handle, and wheel it to my Laundry Room. Afterwards, I hang up my shirts and pants in my closet, then I toss my socks, with clips still attached, into my sock drawer. If I have time, I fold my underwear, and put it in my underwear drawer. If I’m in a hurry, I just toss them in. Same with bras. In between Laundry loads, I set up my Roomba Vacuum Cleaner in each room, close the door, and let it run for 15 minutes per room. While that’s going, I sometimes dust flat surfaces in another room-or save the dusting for another day if I can’t get into doing it then. I focus, and just speed along doing it. I’m usually done everything before noon. I make lunch, and if it’s nice out, we sit outside, relax, and eat out on our deck. After lunch, we do whatever activities we feel like enjoying. Laundry complete, and I don’t have to think about it for another whole week. This works for me because my kids are grown and out of the house now, but with kids, I would do one load a day, but still by person.
I've been doing this for years, we only hang going out clothes everything else is just put in drawers. My twin boys at one stage just had black socks no sorting just put all together. They are older now and one recently requested stripy socks, so the socks are now black or stripy ones. still easy to pair up when needed
I dont pair socks, I just get identical socks for each person. Black socks are sons, gray socks oldest, white socks for one of the middle kids, and grey toe white socks for the other kid. Each person just tosses their own style socks and undies in their drawer. Done! Shirts go on hangers. Pants and towels folded. I love tgis no fold method! If our drawers were standard size I would do it, but kids have plastic sterilite drawers instead of dressers, so folding pants is helpful for us.
I do a load of day and find I fold hardly anything but sheets are folded and live in their respective pillowcases. I separate towels (might have a hardy hoodie or jeans in there), load for kitchen linen; I separate clothes not by color so much as feel. The softer, dainty stuff I don't want to peel if washed with rough sweats etc. It dries faster this way too.
I finally don’t feel so weird with my laundry routine 😂 I’ve been doing the same it’s just so much easier and works for me and my family. I feel like being organized is just a satisfying feeling but ACTUALLY getting all your laundry done to begin with? Better than sex
Aaaand yep this is one of those things that I needed to see! Ha! I like to hang everything except PJs, under garments, & shorts. Now... to get my two little girls too stop making a fashion show out of their clothes! Haha!
I guess it depends how you store your clothes! I don't have drawers, only shelves. If my things are not folded, they get lost in the back and can't see what I have. But I never fold underwear, so yeah.
I have to fold. If I just toss m ckothes in the drawers, it just looks like clutter when I open them up to grab something. It overwhelms my brain, and then I feel like I have to pull everything out to find what I want. But DO like the idea of folding a load right i the room that it belongs in, and on a surface very close to the shelves or drawers it belongs in. I just put each item on t he shelf or in the drawe right as soon as I fold it... without seperating it first. It's very quivk. I DO like your way of folding towels. I'm going to try that.
All my drawers are perfectly folded and neat as a pin but half empty because there are baskets of clean clothes in every corner of the house just waiting for me 😩
Even better if I let go of perfect drawers, my son can put his own clothes away 😂👌🏻
Richelle Nolan I totally agree about not having loads of pillows & cushions on the bed. I’ve never understood why some people have so many.
I would find it a pain to take them all off the bed every night, especially when I’m tired.
Thanks for uploading.
Lol. Just folded my kids laundry while I watched this. It’s been a game changer for me to wash laundry grouped by the room in which it belongs. Then bring the basket of clean laundry immediately to the room to sort or fold straight into the drawers so that I don’t leave little piles of clean laundry everywhere.
I do something similar by washing only pants, only shirts, only pajamas, etc. One type of hanger or fold makes quick work.
Thanks Gina! I think doing loads by person is my next step!
Where has this channel been all my motherhood?! This is like help to me. I never have hands on help with anything so tips that save me time and stress are help! I can't wait to not fold my mountains of laundry in the morning!
Great to see this in action! For our missing sock problem, I decided to buy all socks in 1 color, that way its easier to pair them up!
I wash broken socks and then use as rags . Handy coz u can put it on like a glove and get hard to reach spots
Lol.
I love that you have your kids involved, my kids put their clothes away too, they also love the sock matching game!
I did this too! My son. Who’s 4 actually went in and dumped out his shirts to fold them himself! Now my 3 and 4 year old fold their own clothes (sometimes).
So sweet :) My kids love helping put the laundry away too!
Storing kids pajamas in their bathroom is genius. Why did I never think of that?
I never had any room to place pyjamas in a bathroom but I love the sink cabinet with drawers. Wonder where she got it...
Does it have to be 8 hours? I saw it elsewhere saying 4.
I couldn't tell, were you wearing gloves?
@@maryannegnotovich9797 I have always soaked my clothes but just with baking soda and gain. I'll try it with borax
New Sub! I’ve been binging all the videos.
This makes a lot of sense! Great tip :):)
I've done this method for years and it's amazing.
I also got rid of all pajamas. My kids wear dual purpose sweats. They can play in them or sleep in them. Minimizing laundry was a game changer for me!
Who knew?? :)
Love your channel! Your calm upbeat manner is so refreshing! Thank you!
I hang up my shirts and pants but don’t fold undergarments. I am also a towel folder since it fits better on my shelving unit.
Oh snap..... folding and putting away is when the wheels come off for me. I’m definitely doing this!!!!!!🤓
Same! I am an expert at loading the washer though, lol!
Hi Steph! I like your new ‘progress not perfection’ zingy thingy 😄
Love your comment about the leggings, I always joked my fat bottom would smooth out any creases 😂
lol! my mom is the same way, I tell her she doesn't have to fold underwear when she helps me here, but she insists, :) lol, thats pretty much how I feel about the leggings too! haha
Same!! I don't turn things right side out either. And each kid has bin of socks by the door, all same socks, no matching! Saves a ton of time.
Love how you did your laundry room over! 😊. Take care and have a nice weekend.
I am sure as my kids and their clothes grow I will need to do more loads, maybe an extra for sheets and towels like you say. for now, this works pretty well, I do an extra if there is an 'accident'.
nice to see a blend of fold and no fold!
Love it!!! Why hadn't I thought of this! 5 of us here too... Folding takes forever 😂🙈
Love it! Thanks for sharing! I don't ball socks up like that anymore. I just stack the pairs on top of each other and put them in the drawer. They generally stay together! Another few seconds saved!
Interesting! I may have to try this, thanks!
Fits so much better in the drawers
And, I cant imagine washing my darks and lights together.
So I totally agree that most clothes won't have wrinkles when they're not folded.
My laundry schedule:
M sheets
T rags and towels
W children's clothes
Th cloth diapers
F mine and my husband's clothes
Sat cloth diapers
And yes, we have such little clothes and rewear things two days in a row that all those things fit into one load! 🙌🏻
yay for being first! thank you Jenny for always sharing helpful tips and your experience :)
@@TheSecretSlob 😏😘
I've only just recently found your channel, and can i just say... You are literally me! Except I'm still a secret slob! 😫 You have given me so much inspiration though, thank you so much for putting yourself out there to help others! I actually have hope now! 😉🥰 x
I totally do this method already! I even leave everything inside out like your sister! I thought it was just my 'lazy' method of washing but now I agree it's smart! I also have three kids and I don't have the time for folding.
I resisted at first, but it has saved me!
Exactly, what works for me, might or might not be the right thing for everyone! ps - love outside dried clothes
Wao that's such a great idea!! Going to do that to see what I really use in like 6m ill revisit to declutter 🤗
Thanks for the tips!
Thx for sharing. I like these tips.
This method is only for people with a lot of space..if you live in a small apartment..folding is key..you will have so much more space, I am done with folding in 5-7 minutes..it doesn't take long actually..but it's a good technique for people with a lot of space and storage space..
Your laundry room looks great!
Music to my ears 😍
Genuinely SO happy that someone has finally shown me how the F to fold towels!
This is life changing
J Small haha right?!?
I love your drying racks. I wonder if I could get them in Ireland?
They are from Wayfair, do you have that? I just searched 'wall mounted drying racks'
I'm so going to incorporate this! Just curious from your morning routine vid, what do you put in your smoothies?
I hadn't seen the new laundry room... wow, that is nice!
Xx
Love that!
I love your tips
This is genius. I don’t think I will ever fold kids clothes again. Just got it done in like 5 minutes.......where has this been the past 5 years 😂
Great video Steph, I get so inspired by watching you!
Steph!! I'm def doing this! I already do it for pjs and undies. My boys wear basketball shorts in summer and warm up pants in winter. Girls wear shorts and leggings. Why why am i folding!?!? I have clothes piled on the loveseat. I'm def trying this method!
yay! glad you like the idea!
I could totally do this when my kid is old enough to mess up his drawers lol and it makes so much sense to put up shirts! I was already doing sweaters.
Why haven't I thought of this before? I will definitely be doing this. My kids are always messing up their drawers anyway!
story of my life! :) :)
Enjoy your videos so much!!!
I love it! Going to implement this right now
Yay! I’ve been waiting for this, thank you! Now to try and implement it!
Hope you like it!
I put containers on the bedroom closet shelves so we can just throw undies and socks in , with no folding. Most everything else gets hung up, quickly, towels get rolled. A load a day makes it easy to manage. tfs 💗
Time saver and great way to be organized 👍
Agreed. No need to fold clothes - ironing everything takes care of them.
Wow! This is such an amazing routine! Sounds like you're someone I need to look up to when it comes to getting my laundry done! haha
I've been doing this for years, we only hang going out clothes everything else is just put in drawers. My twin boys at one stage just had black socks no sorting just put all together. They are older now and one recently requested stripy socks, so the socks are now black or stripy ones. still easy to pair up when needed
Lovely laundry room!
Thank you!! 😊
I'm going to try it with my son's clothes!
I do no fold method and hang almost all my clothes. It keeps them dry and remove most wrinkles by the time I am ready to wear it.
I finally don’t feel so weird with my laundry routine 😂 I’ve been doing the same it’s just so much easier and works for me and my family. I feel like being organized is just a satisfying feeling but ACTUALLY getting all your laundry done to begin with? Better than sex
Lol! Yes🙌🙌🙌 If you arnt getting it done at all, does it matter ?
I love doing the no fold method. I don’t even have a sock bin. A mismatched sock just goes into the owner’s drawer! It gets found eventually
Aaaand yep this is one of those things that I needed to see! Ha! I like to hang everything except PJs, under garments, & shorts. Now... to get my two little girls too stop making a fashion show out of their clothes! Haha!
My girls are the same! So many outfit changes haha
Thanks for this video. What do you do with your husbands tees and shirts? Do they also go on hangers?
Love this!🌞
I guess it depends how you store your clothes! I don't have drawers, only shelves. If my things are not folded, they get lost in the back and can't see what I have. But I never fold underwear, so yeah.
I'm admiring your laundry room!
Thank you! it was a work in progress forever, I am loving it now!
