  • Commenting on the government's assertion that the proposed bill will be lawful, he tells LBC's Lewis Goodall: "It's just lies. There is no lawyer telling them that. This is politics and politics alone. They know it's a breach of international law."

Dont need any new law. Just apply the existing laws. Its not difficult to separate the genuine asylum seekers from the economic migrants. Let every man and his dog make their application. And then duly deem them ineligible and put them on a plane. Simple as that. No Albanian man has any genuine claim, so theres thousands sent off straight away. .

Good to hear the principles of the human rights convention spoken out loud.

Can you not differentiate between a genuine asylum seeker, in fear for their life, and an economic migrant who is just here to leach off the welfare system.

How to find out the difference, when not processing them?

In what universe does someone risk their life in order to leach off of any welfare system, let alone one of the stingiest, most punitive, least reliable welfare systems in the developed world? I don't get why you people pretend to believe such preposterous nonsense.

@David Webb and they do it on purpose to wind people up. That seems to be the tory tactic at the moment - deliberately break the system then say "oh no the system is broken, we should change it".

In the British Constitution, there is a thing called ‘parliamentary sovereignty’, which means parliament cannot be subject to foreign rules or regulations, and that parliament is the supreme legal authority within the United Kingdom. There is no other authority above it. So, if parliament passes this act, it is the law.
The law is not an unchanging monolith; as we can see with this act, the law has now changed.

It still violates international laws, laws that the UK is a signatory of and therefore obliged to respect and uphold. Why would any other country trust the UK’s international obligations if we so flagrantly ignore them in this instance?
The UK rightly condemn other countries, such as Russia, for trampling over their international obligations and yet here we are doing the same.
If there’s a conflict between parliament’s intentions then they have to choose: either they uphold our international obligations or they abandon them and turn the UK into an international pariah state.

Utter nonsense and revisionism on why we fought the World Wars.

Churchill himself talked of the dangers of 'a nightmare with the aid of perverted science in a new dark age.' The invasion of Poland violated all the rights of Poland with the horrors of nazism that were already known. You're the one talking nonsense & revisionism here.

Thank you. Absolutely. Our men were out there bravely fighting off an invader. Only for their ancestors to now be told we can no longer do that. We must give our country up to this new invader who does not even like our way of life and, oh by the way, you will pay to put a roof over their head, food on their table, free cigarettes. Spending money. Medical care.
