Let me explain it to you, why no reporting on the amount of waterway mellus and kanadas had damaged under the administration of pappans to score political points?
Talk about the number of waterways destroyed by mellus under the pappan's advice to create a rift between mellus and Tamilians with water. These dump gods destroyed rivers channeling water into TN in the name of water conservation, satisfying some pappan clowns to promote state animosity.
Talk about the danger of storing water in theirs dams to its brims. The entire South TN is left barren and the river called "Vaippar" was killed purposely by dump mellus and now poor undefendables are getting killed.
Talk about why Tuthucorin and Ramanathpuram turned barren!!

In two months all these politicians and businessmen and women are going to come back and talk about "rebuilding" Meppudi or a New Meppudi, or whichever place gives them more bucks for their bang.
All these Gadgil Committe Reports, SC/ HC judgements, Green Tribunal reports will be used wipe their rears, when building resorts, hotels and entertainment venues.
These vultures are waiting for the mourning period to be over.
Some years from now, you and your team can file another explainer about another tragedy.

    Well documented one👍
I need to substantiate further on thevpreventive measures what we have done in Ongole quarries to stabilize the high wall of 80+ m depth.
In Waynad the peak of Vellarimala is 2000m ht and the devasted village Mundakkai is located 8 km away down stream of 1000m ht.
What happened was when heavy rain fall of more than 50 cm / a cloud burst happened at night when people were sleeping, due to saturation and pore pressure of the loose soil at the snout of Vellarimala hill, the slope suddenly slipped and the heavy water dragged the load that includes both soil and boulders by traction and submerged the inhabitations of the devastated villages.
Further, the area is already identified as a sensitive zone for such major landslides and GSI has documented each and every landslides zones in the country.
In Waynad at the Mundakkai area there was a major landslide during 1984 and 2020 and the river has recoursed subsequently along the mud fall and the school now completely destroyed has been constructed on the river terrace on a loose soil. The heavy flood now has undercut the loose formation of the valley made the buildings to collapse.
The treatment to prevent such major landslides is stabilization of slopes with Shot creating followed by netting and again 50mm thickness if cement shot shotcreting and the Soil Nailing of 3 Mt length at vulnerable locations on the overburden and rock bolting in the hard rock at the scarp face of Vellarimala
We have successfully done in a big way in Ongole and the mass is now stable.
Very important thing is fixing the extensometer at regular intervals for real time monitoring the mass movement as in Early Warning System in Tsunami prediction within the time travel.
Ultimately to conclude this is a man made disaster failed to stabilse the slopes within the radius of this cluster.
Mushroom growth of resorts in this zone.
Failed to comply the norms of land use and land cover of Eco system.
Without stabilizing the slopes and again rehabilitating the people within these affected villages will be a great blunder done to the humanity.
Both State and Central Governments should work in tandem to prevent any further such disasters in the land slide zones in the country.
We have seen how nicely the preventive techniques done in China.
I have delivered this in my key note address in Landslide Seminar at Ooty in 2020 and now the State Government has accepted the suggestion of soil nailing of mass in Landslide prone areas of TamilNadu.
The agony due to blatant violation of ecosystem will continue with the influence of the political system and such disasters are attributed mainly to anthropogenic activities 🥲🙏

this disaster and the evidences left in the site and
the role of resorts and quarries in the calamity.

What's most important is implementation of Gadgill report. Giving timely alerts are just a stop gap measures. Such ecologically sensivitive zones must be protected from incursions and people must be rehabilitated to safer areas. Like you said there is a lack of will from authorities for proactive measures. We are always active post disasters, pouring in condolences and money, and when things cool down all these discussions are forgotten.
I'm afraid the disaster in Wayanad is a mere beginning if we are turning a blind eye to climate change and incursions into sensitive zones of Western Ghats.

Orange alert is so common in Kerala that it's not enough to warn of an impending major collapse. Worse still, these alerts are at district levels, and does nothing to help plan at regional levels. And finally, response is decided based on flood alert and landslide alert besides rainfall alert, with the 3 alerts coming from 3 different central government agencies. Guess what the landslide alert level was - green! The landslide alert claims are just pure lies.

While many factors influence this unfortunate trend, what we lack is a comprehensive Land Use Planning study & guidelines to building if at all in these zones. Market forces being a they are, I fear none of us can stop human built environments from claiming these zones. What we can do is become aware of critical limits & dos & donts.

Devastating fact is that another big disaster waiting for a massive rainfall that can wipe out entire mulitiple districts in kerala is a dam that is centuries old but no government or political party is willing to talk about until something happens.. Its the trend afterall😑

Really great reporting, pretty rare thing to see. However, you guys should create a contributions flow, in an implicit way, so that others can see the amount of contributions and hence more shall follow.

    Hi Mam,
Please do make a video on the case study of Mullaperiyar Dam😢😢. Nobody is speaking up to decommission it. It is a bitter truth to say that Kerala is the worst state to live because of all these deadly reasons. Please consider this as a request, save the people of Kerala. We are helpless.

My condolences to the families who have lost their near and dear ones. Ma'am, could you please take a min to explain what orange alert means. July 26th was considered as orange alert day, so does this give relief to ppl to relax for other days or can they be more proactive and think what possibilities could be and take necessary actions.

Nothing will change. No one will learn any lessons. Presently its the hot news for media & and when Media will get another hot news. People will forget everything, similar with such happened to Arjun the truck driver, it seems that chapter is closed by media.

Overturism also one of the reason I believe because in the pandemic even though there was heavy downpour but there was no landslide at that time...But post pandemic ppl rushed everywhere to see now travel uas become some kinda of passion and desire....travel has become showcasing... it's costing human lives more traffic and load on soil causing these landslide.... Its not relevant to kerala its relevant to coastal and western ghats of karanataka , maharastra, Uttarakhand, himachal Pradesh, assam , Meghalaya as well...Do not visit this place on Mansoon season...be civilized traveller ....

Its not tourism. These are all lies. Its the farming activity. Do you expect the soil to hold up if farmers keep removing and replanting coffee and tea plants again and again?

7:40 Kerala need urgently Better Wheather prediction system.. well said,
I wish better medical facilities too..
Wayanad and Kasaragod districts with no progress need better medical facilities.
We don't have Medical college or Multi speciality hospital. For medical purpose we have to travel kms. Wayanad depending nearest district Kozhikode and Kasaragod depending Mangalore, Karnataka.
