    A7IV is quite a bit better for video. Although I am disapointed by the 4k60 crop. For 2800€ this shouldn‘t be a thing in 2022. For photography the A7III does pretty much everything just as well if you don‘t care about the resolution bump. I am happy with it and won‘t be getting a new one before the A7V comes out.

    Still use an a7iii and pretty happy with the autofocus. Maybe I'm missing out on the newer autofocus and tracking, but seems spot on the eyes and most subjects. Would love to see a real world autofocus comparison between it and the a7rV with its new AI processor.

    Jack.
    Bought the a7iii in Feb this year. I bought it with the 24-105 lens. All was okay until a few weeks ago when problems started (too many to mention), any way took it back to WEX in Leeds from where I bought it. It was sent back to Sony for repair under warranty.
    Had update this week, it’s the lens that’s faulty. Sony now waiting for parts to carry out a repair, there due 25.07.22. Hoping to have all back ASAP.

    I love my A7III but, I bught an A7IV.
    6 reasons?
    - Better AF settigns
    - ro record limit!!!!
    - 4K 50p
    - Full HDMI out , not micro HDMI
    - Better bulid quality
    - Faster and better menu system

    Nice video, well done. One thing I think that was missing for a A7III negative is it unacceptable rate of mechanical shutter failures. Hopefully you'll or anyone will not experience this, but many have and if you do it will brick your A7III camera. You can get it repaired, but it is costly.

    • @JackWoodhams
      @JackWoodhams  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I have heard of this issue, however I'm not going to make it a negative particularly when it's not happened to me. Don't forget, when people complain about a broken shutter, it seems like a lot, nobody posts a forum post or joins a FB group to say "my A7III works perfectly". So sure, it seems like a lot of people have the issue, but if you compare those sold to the amount of people that get the issue, it is probably a small minitory. Still, it's definitely an issue with the camera, just not something that will happen to everyone, so thus isn't a complaint of the A7III itself.

    My introduction to the full frame mirrorless camera world was with a sony a7r2. GREAT CAMERA just for photogrpahy and for video does the work, 2 weeks ago I decided to buy another camera body tu ''upgrade my gear'' and I got the a73. BROO my workflow is faster now even thoug is a camera from 2018. for the budget right now the a73 is an AMAZING option if you are starting or want another body. Now this is my main camera. I still use the a7r2 just in product shots with flashes and stuff because it has a sensor with more mpx than the a73, but the ergonomics of my new camera are way better, also the quality in video and photo are lovely. Great video dude.

My first was the a6300 and I'm super glad that I started there. Very valid reasons, thanks for sharing! Might worth to mention that along the fact the sensor of the A7III is really excellent, images taken at high ISO and/or low light tend to get ugly magenta cast (or blotches), which, obviously, could be removed (mostly) by RAW editing. Also, white balance often got tricked under challenging light conditions, which is again, something one may correct post, as it needs extra effort. With these corrections I am happy to show my wildlife photos taken at ISO 25600 about bears or deers (on my website), so overall, the A7III is a great budget camera for challenging wildlife photography with its IQ and AF capabilities still in 2023!

      I didn't say it wasn't a better camera, I said you'd get on fine with the a7III which will still perform perfectly for most. Not a fan of the A7c range finder style but if you like it then sure! Flip out screen is helpful!

    • @VolkswagenNut1969
      @VolkswagenNut1969 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve looked at the a7C. I like the rangefinder style just fine, but there are two major reasons I’m not getting it that you may want to consider.
      1-no front dial and fewer custom buttons, so there are fewer options for adjustability on the C.
      2-only one card slot instead of two. Much riskier, especially on paying jobs.
      So it’s still a close race between the a7iii and a7iv. 😉

But the A7iii manages to keep it small while still delivering amazing image quality. This makes me so much more willing to bring my camera around. My old 6D + 24-70 lense is almost twice the weight of my new A7iii + 2 small prime lenses, and delivering sharper images and good in low light.

    Flip Screen....vlogging is kind of a thing now....focus breathing compensation is quite nice for video, the III doesn't have it.... the latest auto-focus is massive and these are just a few reasons I"d still buy the A7IV. I think saving by purchasing used lenses is less risky than buying a used body. Do you really think the video image quality is better on the A7III than the IV? Interesting. I think it looks good but isn't better in my opinion. Fuji XT4 and Panasonic Lumix? APSC? Big steps backward in auto-focus and APSC is kind of the starving artist camera.

      @JackWoodhams  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Some good points. Vlogging although popular isn't the main reason you buy a camera like this so for photographers the flip screen might not be an issue.
      Focus breathing depends on lenses, some aren't that bad!
      I didn't say the video quality was better on the A7iii. It's definitely better on the iV however, for TH-cam etc 10 bit video like we get from the iV isn't really a requirement.

    what about the shutter problems. many users report defective shutter unit after a mere 50k shots some even much less

    • @JackWoodhams
      @JackWoodhams  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      True, but here's the thing. The A7iii is the best selling camera of the last 5 years. When people complain and post on the internet that their shutter has broken, that's going to be a small minority compared to those who have had no issues at all. Because if your camera is working fine, you don't tend to post about it... 😂 The loud minority drowns out the the silent majority...

    I shot my friend's wedding with his Sony A7 III, it sucked really bad. Autofocus is slow, the buffer is small, and low light focus is a nightmare. This camera was NOT ready for primetime. Buy the AIV instead. I missed so many shots and got very frustrated with it. Never buy this camera unless you are shooting landscape. This camera is a wash. You are welcome, and have a nice day.

    • @JackWoodhams
      @JackWoodhams  ปีที่แล้ว

      User error. If a camera has limitations you work around them. Most videographers would use manual focus unless using a gimbal where they can't touch the camera. Using autofocus for video at a wedding is where you went wrong - because you're relying purely on the cameras "brain" to get the right things in focus. For video if you're trying to do nice panning shots, dolly shots etc autofocus will always mess up.

    0:56 video is the best hands down, as for image quality, it stands no chance against Pentax k1 (in the same price range). In fact, no FF camera on planet earth can compete with k1 in dynamic range.

    • @JackWoodhams
      @JackWoodhams  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah except the Pentax lens range and support is very lacking. Not a system I'd buy into personally.
