Time achieved includes the Herodotus glitch that has been patched out. Probably saved ~45s with it. No other glitches used here. My current glitchless pb (in current game version) is 14m 03s.
I had a time-stop Shinobi but lost the opportunity to knock this down another whole minute, so it's definitely possible to do this faster than what I ended up with if you're willing to put up with the RNG. I also used the "return to title screen" menu option to warp my guy home faster.
It only took a few hours of attempts to get this time locked in (my playtime was around 17 hours total when this was made). It's an easy speedrun compared to the patched version because the hardest fight can be skipped here. The patched version is the only thing I run now; I was mostly just curious about what kind of time I could get with this glitch which was promptly fixed by the dev. team not long after release.

watching this makes the game look easy, then you try it yourself and get stuck on the first boss till you're level 50+

not only that but he did it at level 0 too. i can't beat most of the bosses without the archmage so i can spam my magic attacks or the ninja who is really OP strength wise

Quilava I was level 103 :(, I was shit at the time, but I managed to defeat 3 of the upgraded bosses today which is impressive for me, so I think I can manage to beat it in 15 lives or less without using the architect, these bosses are easy compared to their upgraded versions :P
The music during the Ponce De Leon fight is badass!

+AnWarLord 12345_Lol_Omg_Wtf well as you see after that run he does the same thing but survives, and what he is actually doing is a glitch so that if u fall then u can move before the fight even starts and it freezes the boss.
at first I was like WTF, but then he does it again and glitches the boss to death so I'm pretty sure it was on proporse

I love how at 14:21 the skeleton on the right is named “Halphas” is a pun on how his character design was a “Half Assed” because there was no effort put into it because all they did was reverse the sprite.
Also it took me hours to beat the game lol

I remeber this game running in slow-motion because my old laptop had problems running it, probably like 20 fps and I thought it was supposed to be that way, slow and methodic, i ended up finishing the game in this slow motion state, then after watching gameplays on youtube i realized how much quick and fast paced the game really is.
yea I was playing this on a laptop once and that blurry vision effect caused some severe slowdown

I am like level 45 and still did not beat the first boss! But I don't complain because the fun of this game is to build up your skills and stats little by little...that's what this very good game is all about! 👍👍👍

Yes, you can clear with the first character. I've made it once and so has a caster named Zors. Haven't seen anyone else do it. It's very slow and cautious playing.

Not filmed, but I did clear the game twice in a row with Sir Lee. Took about 3-4 hours per run for complete clear, but finding 2 vampiric runes,and the double air-jump cape really saved my ass for the second clear. Not impossible but took a long time getting used to the game before doing it.

I had no idea you could kill the boss in the Darkness like that. Definitely going to try that when I get home.
Remember playing this when it came out, that was very impressive.

This whole thing seems spliced. He/she randomly title screen quits and immediately is at the beginning of the dungeon. Not familiar with the game but the fact the player goes straight to the boss with no back tracking, cause it looks like the entire dungeon is randomized on death? I'm not sure about that but seems super sketchy.
@@reaper8003 its randomly generated the thing is its faster to safe and quit to get back to the entrance then theres this dude on the far right that makes it not generate a new dungeon when u enter but u get 30% less money i think
@@Foozo This was done live. The VOD might even still exist. There was no splicing. The time in question here was dropped frames from a connection hiccup. And the timer does change to match the missing segment.
this game makes my blood boil. I play dark souls with ease but this drives me crazy.
Hitman Barnes have you tried any remix bosses? I just gave up and ended up uninstalling the game
me and my friend killed all of them but one i think, in one night, after first meeting the game, although he did find some clear vids so we learnt what was possible and what was not.
i don't remember which one was the hardest... i guess the one that takes a long time to kill (because i don't have patience lul), the improved version of the fiery boss.
Fun game though. Ive put many hours into it and I've only killed the first boss.
I will go back to it and try to finish it, playin Isaac atm tho.
Hitman Barnes Binding of Isaac is too random for me I got 5 or 6 completion marks but often the drops either are completely overpowered or simply randomly kill you

That is the Herodotus glitch he refers to in the description!
He basically started the fight before the boss introduction ended.
But to do that he had to fall through the platform into some spikes and since he had little life left he died.
You can see he repeat it at @6:16, falling through and taking damage, but surviving and finishing the fight.

This version had a short existence due to quickly released patches and can only be played on the DRM-free version, so I get where they are coming from. I've been speed-running the updated version recently and nearly beating this time (down to 15 minutes) so I'll solve this problem soon anyway!

Well if randomly generated dungeons scare you, you may have a look on pokémon speedruns.Damages are around RNG, critical around RNG, miss around RNG, and not only that, while walking around grasses the random encounters are another RNG (which can take you forever or one second) and yeah.Good luck with that shit

Didnt he do it by choice? He went through the platform he stood on and onto the spikes. The next time he got to that boss he did the exact same thing but with more hp.. I think it's a cheese strategy to get to kill the boss before he really spawns. Thing is he didnt really have enough hp to do it the first time. I wonder if he knew he didnt have enough hp and killed himself or if he think he had enough hp but died.
I did some math and the spikes that damaged him did 64 dmg, and he only had 46 hp the first time. A player that figure out a strategy like that probably know he would die from the spike but figured he would save time anyway.

There's a video of someone beating the final boss with Sir Lee, but the way it is cut up implies they used backup saves until they won each boss fight. Wasn't just one single attempt. I've tried a few times, have gotten as far as the final boss before I slipped.

I didn't have the mana to activate it the way I wanted and had a decent pool of money. I was hoping that I'd get another Shinobi with more damage than before, which I did. 105 strikes instead of 87.
I would've preferred to reach Johannes with timestop though, because a glitch exists that freezes the 2nd form in place. That was my original intent and knowing that I failed it, I went into damage control. Using that glitch would have saved me more time than the extra damage I bought.
Is Ponce De Leon's theme suppossed to reference Final Fantasy?

I thought that levels were just how many times you played it? If not, does it affect your stats?
Not sure what you mean. Your character level is just a number telling you how many upgrades you've bought in the castle. Some of these upgrades do more than others. Unlocking the blacksmith, for example, will put you at level 1.
