If that is the correct reason then there is evidence for and against the player character actually being able to possibly contain the infection indefinitely.

Bad place to look, since he skips things and does some things out of order... If you get a bit more familiar with the game and map you will understand what you need or where you need to pass. The rest is up to you exploring and not giving up (some places seem as if you can't pass but that deceives)
Yeah, I don't recommend looking at this to know where to go. There are a lot of sequence breaks and some of the sequence breaks are VERY precise. I would just look up a normal guide or keep exploring. Hollow knight is a wonderful game with a lot of great surprises :)

19:00 I went into that fight with Joni's Blessing, LifeBlood, DashMaster, 2nd nail upgrade, and 3 soul vessels, and it took me 4 hours and about 60 tries. Sigh...
At least in Any% (NMG) you have Shaman's Stone. Those masochists doing Low% (NMG) have to do the fight without any charms... and dashless (since you never fight Hornet in Low% hence never acquire dash).
Quick Slash and Mark if Pride are a dream combo for that fight if anyone needs tips. I couldn't best them without those two. I also recommend coiled nail + and unbreakable/fragile strength
Shade cloak and Shadow dash make them much easier, although those are not for speed runs you can get them in a normal run or steel soul run. I find they help more than anything else for me.
This is what would happen if the knight wasn't controlled by a player. That is the whole purpose he was created. No side tracking, Very efficient and capable bug. Also the way he straight up slauthers Watcher knights is way too satisfying.
Don’t forget that the knight is not as knowledgeable as a speedrunner. The speedrunner already knows the very quick and efficient methods in finishing the game, the knight doesn’t.

I just finished Steel Soul run today at 104% in 15hrs. I didn't do any skip and get to areas with the intended abilities/items, and I don't rush, just playing casually. First playthrough will always be long because you didn't know what to do. Maybe another reason why I'm also fast was because I use fragile greed on first half of the game and deposit 4500 geo at the scam bank (got 1.5x from the scammer back), so I never have to farm at all
Yeah, any% and low% runs of Hollow Knight tend to be pretty heartless. Although, the world record run in the Low% category (by homothety) actually does save the grub in the Beast's Den even though doing so is a (very small) time loss... I guess he just couldn't bear walking right past it ❤

It's probably the other way around: they will consume the father as they are transforming into the grubberflies that will eventually emerge from his corpse.
@@Firefly256 Being able to escape from False Knight after the first stagger is intentional, so you can get the fireball spell and start exploring Greenpath and beyond if you want. It's not very helpful though: the fireball spell won't help you much with False Knight since you can't get much soul during that fight, the next boss isn't going to be any easier, and you need the City Crest obtained by defeating False Knight to progress later in the game (unless you take an unusual route around that obstacle).

He did Focused to heal, check the Hollow Knight final boss...... He healed once. And if we're being technical he focused 5 times (3 for the beings 1 for the hollow knight and 1 focus in the battle hollow knight)

Elderbug isn't sad, he's worried. This random stranger with an emotionless 1000 yard stare enters his village, speaks to nobody, and heads toward the danger. For all Elderbug knows, he could be heading to his death and Elderbug just wanted to warn the strange traveler.
Took me hours to figure out I could get a nap, took me another to figure out what I was even doing, and after another hour I faught the false knight and died many times, it wasn’t for another 2 hours I got vengeful spirit- and you did it in 4 minutes.
How’d you do the skip at 13:34? I’ve been trying for a solid 10 minutes and I’ve got nothin, the Shade always runs back to its spawn point whenever I’m about to nail hop on his head.
Note that this doesn't work anymore on current patch. Hollow Knight speedruns generally use v1.2.2.1, unless the category involves Godhome (which use v1.4.3.2) and categories that allow exploitation of major glitches (where people often use older versions with more glitches to exploit)

Well it took me 2 or 3 tries for this one but it certainly took me 20~30 tries against Hornet 2nd encounter. Spent like 1 or 2 hours at that

I watch Hollow Knight speedruns to remind me what a trash player I am. This was yet again successful.
Took me hours to figure out I could get a nap, took me another to figure out what I was even doing, and after another hour I faught the false knight and died many times, it wasn’t for another 2 hours I got vengeful spirit- and you did it in 4 minutes.
I really wanted that nap

The game saves after you beat a dreamer. Had he quit, he would've just woken up at the dreamer's place.

How’d you do the skip at 13:34? I’ve been trying for a solid 10 minutes and I’ve got nothin, the Shade always runs back to its spawn point whenever I’m about to nail hop on his head.

Minor glitch exploited.
For some reason, if you stand at that place the fireball hitbox hovers over the Baldur and kills it
Note that this doesn't work anymore on current patch.
Hollow Knight speedruns generally use v1.2.2.1, unless the category involves Godhome (which use v1.4.3.2) and categories that allow exploitation of major glitches (where people often use older versions with more glitches to exploit)
Each of the bosses and dreamers just feel a force t-posing toward them and start sweating loudly
If there was still even the slightest doubt in your mind that the watcher knights weren’t the hardest boss in the base game, this dude got hit 4 times.
