I was a teen age schoolboy with my first guitar when the Animals hit the top. One of the first songs I tried to master, trying all the time. Hilton Valentine is the Guitarist playing in The Animals. Recently watched a video doc short on TH-cam showing how he had that unique way of playing. I followed along and play like you are demonstrating and it sounds tops. Our dearly missed Hilton was 77 Jan 2021. That hit record still sends those so-called chills or vibes up the chakra. I'm 73 now and sing and play the song at open mics and community events. I have a wilder way of playing it, but with you showing the way I finally get to do it proper. But at the next event I by habit will go back to my wild way of playing it. I have learned by ear no lessons. Nowadaze on the TH-cam it is fun to follow lessons. With my wild or untaught way of playing guitar there might be an occasional "wow he really butchered That song!" mixed in with a smattering of applause. I'll be on board checking things out. I spent 1973 and 1974 stationed at RAF Bentwaters, near Ipswich. I loved every minute of those years there. I still play and sing at 73 and I do not charge a penny. I like Joni Mitchell's song For Free. Can you do a song or two of the late Great Neil Innes? I am still a big fan of the Bonzo Dog Band. Vivian and Neil. I joined a fan site for Neil Innes and was Percy on Innesboard which was an open chat. We all used a fictitious name on that forum. 2 wonderful gals from California started the site for Neil. How about a clever song by Neil or Vivian?
Seriously, I've been trying for WEEKS to play this song -- never could get it. I have to *stop,* then switch chords, then start playing again. Figured one of these days I'd get fast enough to switch chords if I just kept trying at it. But lifting off on the last note of the strumming pattern, then switching during that time -- of *course* that's how you have to do it. So simple. And if you go listen to the record, you can *hear* exactly that! Crazy! I know of this trick from seeing it in other videos you've done, it just never occurred to me I needed to use it until now. Can't wait until I get the chance to practice tomorrow. I bet I see amazing results very quickly. Thank you!
