- I''m going back into the Wasteland today to convert a steel toy into a scale model of the tanker truck from The Road Warrior. This is gonna be so much fun, so let's get our craft on!

That looks so good T-Nu. The fact that you took out a flipping welder to this thing blows my mind. Also, throughout this video you kept using a lot of very STRONG connections that makes me think you have some sinister plans for this truck. WHY DOES IT NEED TO BE SO DURABLE!
Thanks Knarb! You know, if the world does go all Mad Max I don't want end up as a War Boy or worse, strapped to the front of some Warlord's hot-rod. Instead, I want to make battle toys for the feral children. It's much safer. This is why these playthings need to be so durable. Maybe we can join forces in the Wasteland so that we could make amazing toys for the little animals. So, let's break out the arc welder and get the tetanus shots prepped beacause we have a play-date with DOOM! : )
@@CajunCraftastrophe i love it
Simple. He's going to let Daddy play with it sometimes. 😂
"You were feral." 🤣🤣👌
Great video T-Nu, looks awesome!!!
It's funny 'cause it true! : 0
Thanks!!
I love the videos where Daddy is commenting. the banter is one of my favorite parts! Love the channel! Great video!
Much appreciated! I can rarely keep him away from the microphone. : )
The amount of detail you put into that is insane TNu! Such an awesome build! Thanks for the shout, hopefully the pastels didn't struggle too much for for ya, always turns out grainy if they do
I love this pastel pigment technique and it's so much cheaper than pure pigment. However, pure pigment is more powerful by far, but that is not always a good thing. Cheers my man, thanks again!
Dang. Not only did you take me back to my 1980s self being blown away by the raw awesomeness of Road Warrior, but you created a seriously hard core scale model of the tanker using materials and techniques rarely seen in the mini world. Welding? Actual metal work including templates? Yes, yes, yes! Fan-freaking-tastic.
Rock on, Pam! You have a very cool last name! Thank you.
This is just awesome! And it means a lot that this is something you started over a year ago, and then came back to. A lot of folks have partly finished things sitting around, and we quietly grumble at ourselves for not finishing them. But this gives us hope, you know? We can come back to these things when we're ready, or have more skill to finish it.
Yes, sometimes you just have to put things aside. One key thing to keep in mind though is that once you put that one thing on "pause," you should start working on something completely different. If you don't do any building or crafting for a while then that inertia that is hard to get over.
Absolutely killed it T-Nu! You are getting real good at using all different types of materials to get to look you want, I really liked the Eva foam and holes cut in the paper, those pipes are looking sick!
Yes! I added this to the ideas box for sure :)
Thanks!!! You know, I watch this weird dude who makes videos about little tiny abandoned spaces and I learn a lot from that. One day that guy will get better with his camera work and it'll make those videos more palatable. One day... : )
Thanks ever so much my friend!!! : )
I’m a simple man - I see a Cajun craftastrophe video and I click it. I’ve learnt something from every one of your videos. Thank you.
Glad you like them! Thank you! : )
T-Nu getting fancy here with "Thermal Gloves". I just use oven mits or my calloused hands. Still watching the video, but I had to get that out of my system.
Yes, one of my Patrons bought these for me and I was like, "What the heck?" but the finger control works great when using a heat gun. Plus, the easiest time to break a sculpture is when taking it OUT of the oven. These gloves allow me remove the sculptures from the oven more carefully. I have grown to love them. : )
I love this build T-Nu.
And I love YOU, Bill. : )
I’ve never seen THE ROAD WARRIOR. ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK was my too violent for a kid movie. Watched this video and then watched it again with my wife. She loves your videos as much as I do.
Escape from New York is fun, but it's a popcorn movie. THE ROAD WARRIOR is a cinematic masterpiece. If you haven't seen it then maybe give it a shot. It's so well crafted.
Thanks Gary, I appreciate your wife watching as well! : )
I love The Road Warrior. Good job, T-Nu. Brilliant. Now let's see you make a diorama of Lord Humungus and Max.
I really appreciate that!
I'm glad you paused it for a year - you totally nailed it!
Thank you!
Thanks T-Nu! Loved it, and welcome to 2023!
YES! Let's make 2023 the year that society DOESN'T' collapse!!! : )
Absolutely fantastic attention to detail
Thanks for checking out the video! p.s. You're a great guitarist! : )
I think this qualifies as a doctoral dissertation in Road Warrior. You can now add Doctor of Road Warrior to your resume. Dr. T-Nu, RWD.
My mother will be so proud of me now! Dr. T-Nu, RWD is how I'm to be addressed from now on.
Much appreciated, Tom!
That is amazing, I would love that, thanks for keeping the Road Warrior alive. ❤
Cheers man! It's a fantastic film. : )
Looks FANTASTIC!!! I grew up in Australia and this film (We called it Mad Max 2) was a huge part of my childhood.
Thanks for checking out the video mate!
Extraordinary build, and your humour is unmatched, dear.
Glad you enjoyed it, Susan!
Yes! This turned out amazing! 👏🤩
Rock on, Cannon! : )
Sculpting a dog??!! Wow that is some advanced level stuff!
I was 11 when this film came out in the US in the summer of 1982. I didn’t get to see it until it was broadcast on NBC until 83/84.
I recorded it on the ole Panasonic VCR. I then duped it onto my grandparents Betamax. I then transferred it back to VHS, carefully editing out the commercials.
NBC had made a few cuts here and there to allow it to air on network tv. They did a pretty great job keeping it inline with the theatrical version. That was a rare thing indeed. The TV version of Smokey and The Bandit that ABC aired a few years earlier was ridiculously unwatchable.
This version of the Road Warrior became my definitive version. I watched that tape over and over. I hooked a tape deck up to my VCR and copied the audio onto a cassette tape so I could listen to it in my Walkman and later my first car.
It’s now hard for me all these years later to watch the American theatrical version and even original Australian version. It just feels off.
Ps. You know what’s weird… I think my son had that Nylint Truck set in the 90’s.
That looks Fantastic,,, Mad Max 2 is without a Doubt the Best Movie i've seen. (from my perspective) I grew up watching Mad Max from a child, & it has influenced my life enough that i got into Cars, motorsport and eventually into Demolition Derby. Great Video,
Couldn't agree more!
Demolition Derby!??? That's pretty rad man. I hope that you have a Mohawk, or that at the very least your helmet has a Mohawk on it! : )
This is the best thing you have ever made. The attention to detail is truly impressive.
Cheers, Dan! Thanks so much. There was a lot of steps in this one. : 0
Thanks for watching!
@Craftastrophe makes me wanna Gasland it up!
One of my gaming buddies remembered l did this with a Hess truck after seeing yours ... mine will never see the light of day again... top marks.
Going back and finishing a project later after you've gained more skill is a mark of a true craftsperson.
I can’t even make any suggestions here. This is my all time favorite movie and you nailed this thing!
Thank you, I appreciate that! The Road Warrior is pretty much a perfect movie. Everything about it is so well done! Thanks for watching.
This looks so sick! Great work as always T-Nu!
Thank you Tired Craftsman! Much appreciated. Cheers!
So much crafty-goodness here! Love the steering wheel, that cap had the perfect texture! The little doggo looks great! Love the use of templates and such. So many materials and tools...Multiple clays, water slide decal...power tools laser cutter, laser printer, welder, etc. Wow, you really involved a bunch of different things and so many details on this project - what a labor of love! ps- I've been working on something and was using balsawood, but after watching this, I think I'll switch to polystyrene. Also after watching this, I'm gonna hafta watch The Road Warrior again. (Love that Gyrocaptain fellow.)
Season 3 sure started with a BANG! xoxo
Rock on, Volt! I really appreciate your friendship and attention to my work more than you know. I still have to getting around to reading your latest email. It's been busy around here. Thank you so much! : )
I arrived here because of the build... which is awesome... but Dad has the best side-talk! I'm always chuckling and laughing at what he has to say. Thanks for that!
Welcome aboard! That is very much appreciated!
This was absolutely incredible from start to finish, wow! I love seeing vehicle builds, so this was such a treat! Those shots of it in the dirt at the end were fantastic, definitely looks like it belongs there. All of the tiny details and weathering added so much story to the piece and I really enjoyed the spattering of dirt around the tires haha! So good~
Glad you enjoyed it, Fiend! There's a whole crazy story behind how I got those ending shots. It has everything: Intrigue, trespassing, fear, and laughter. Maybe one day I'll tell it... maybe. : )
Thanks for the encouragement, I always appreciate you checking these out when you can!
Who ever is doing this recreation of the Mack tanker truck in Mad Max: 2 is very Awesome. I liked it very much 😀
It's me, T-Nu! Thank you very much!: )
Fantastic work, great to see something so accomplished after setting it aside for a year.
Thank you very much! : )
Lost for words just amazing 🎉
So cool, the conversation and the model itself.👍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
That's so badass! The whole thing looks killer.
Thanks, Tom!
Thanks T-NU, Thumbs up as always.
Heck yeah! Thanks!
That s one fantastic build . Great representation of the war rig MAD MAX 2...... You certainly watched the film many times to get that much attention to detail 👍
Cheers Jerry! Thank you!
Excellent work, T-Nu! "The Road Warrior" is definitely in my Top 10 Favorite Movies List of all time, and this build brought back a LOT of memories! You really hit all the high points when building your (albeit not exact) replica of this iconic rig; which is arguably the most famous movie tanker truck only second to the one depicted in "Duel."
Another famous movie truck that I'd like to see a model of, (but that is largely ignored by hobbyists,) is the Korean War-era GMC M211 truck used to transport the unstable dynamite in the 1977 movie "Sorcerer." (That bridge crossing scene was intense!) Please consider that one for a future project.
Yes, Dual is great! Thanks so much!!!
1:47 To remove such a sticker from any surface, first soak it with regular cooking oil. Wait a bit. And then remove it with a cloth or cotton pad, etc. I know, it sounds like magic, but it is very effective! 😊🤗😘
Very Cool!
What kid wouldn't want that in his sandbox? 😝
Fantastic job 👍👌💯♥️
Thank you so much 😀
Funny enough. Never thought this movie could have another title... for me it's always and forever "Mad Max II" (as it came in the theaters in Germany).
The model looks insane... great work, excellent job.
Haha! They change everything for Americans. It's crazy. The American version of Mad Max when it first came out, the Hollywood executives changed the dialog of all the actors. They overdubbed over Mel Gibson! Also, that movie only came out AFTER The Road Warrior (Mad Max 2) in the States. So to me I was shocked when I heard it called Mad Max 2... but I was also delighted that there was another movie! Thanks for watching, much appreciated!
Awesome! I totally expected to see a 1/24th scale model kit as the starting point. When you unboxed that Nylint truck, I was surprised; and later, amazed! That was fantastic! Keep it up!
Haha! I never even thought of starting with a scale model. I have this thing about durability. This truck will never be played with, but I'd like it to hold up well if it was. : )
Thanks for watching!
Wow. Just wow! So much skill, so many nuggets. My hat’s off to you!! 👏
Thank you so much 😀
Ahhhh Cher, shout out from Hancock Co MS. Love it, awesome job!!!!
Mais, you right next door to me! Thanks so much, Jack!!
Pretty amazing, T-Nu. Thanks for sharing it. I can't get over all the little details. Wow.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Top tip for glue residue, Zippo lighter fluid and a cotton ball. Takes it right off nice and clean.
Ah, if you look again at the video you can see that Zippo lighter fluid was #3 in the products that I tried, but it too did not work. Thanks, Sue.
Pretty f'n awesome 🤘y'all have a badass day🤘🍻🤘
Rock on! Thanks!
Fun build! Looking forward to seeing more!
Thanks so much, Sir Guy! : )
Impressionante a riqueza dos detalhes..........o cara realmente é um artista!!!!!!! Parabéns!!!!
The final product looks amazing. It’s very clear how much work went into this build.
Thanks a ton!
Mad max vintage truck diecast 👍👏
Oh yeah! Thanks!
very cool.. and yes i love these movies.. Mel is the man!!
“Mad Max 2: Madder and More Maxed!”
IN-FREAKIN-CREDIBLE!!
AND THIS IS WHY I KEEP COMIN BACK TO YOUR CRAFTIVERSE!!
TO ME,THIS IS EXCELLENT!
THANKS FOR BRINGING US ALONG,AND ENTERTAINING US WHILE WE GET TO PEEK OVER YOUR TALENTED SHOULDER!!
BIG THUMBS UP!!
Wow, thank you! Cheers man!
As a huge Mad Max fan and a trucker, this video ticked all my boxes. Excellent work!
Thanks for watching!
Excellent work T-Nu! I'm a big fan of the Road Warrior film, as well and consider it the best of the original "Trilogy" of films. I get where you had to put the project down for a while. I've had a few of those moments myself and there's nothing wrong with coming back when your skills are better! Level up!
Couldn't agree more! Thanks!
Dude! Every detail is amazing! I’m truly inspired by all the techniques you use!
(Also, strongly recommend reading Blood, Sweat, and Chrome by Kyle Buchanan. Its mostly about Fury Road, but it’s got tons of info on all the movies)
Haha! I listened to the audio book of Blood, Sweat, and Chrome when I was working on the Beyond Crafterdome video. Full immersion my friend! : )
Thank you ever so much, Jon!
Who Brings a Rock to a Truck Fight 😂 4:48
That guy! : )
Rock on, Shakes! I love my gloves and use them all of the time now. Thank you!
DANG SON! Killing it as usual T-nu! Thanks for the great video 👏 👏
Much appreciated.
Outstanding!!! What a episode! Thank you!!
Thanks for checking out the video!
Oh, what a wonderful build, mate. The detail, the colours and the effort you put in it, amazing. The Road Warrior is one of my favorite movies of all time, too. So extra thank you for that. And Claude, sir, I whish you were my dad back than the movie came out. I had to persuade my dad weeks and weeks to rent the movie on vhs before I could finaly watch it.
Thanks a ton! You know, if you appreciate getting out of bed at 4:30 am because someone threw a desert snake into your bed, then perhaps my Dad would have been a good fit for you. Also, I had to practice wrestling in full leather garb during a Louisiana summer... I'll never forget that smell.
Thanks son of Targ! Tell your Dad, Hi!
Dang your skills keep leveling up! The weathering on this thing is just pure art!
That's so nice of you to say, Birb! Thanks! : )
p.s. I HAVE to level up. The TH-cam crafters out there are outstanding.
I watched this movie by accident, don't regret any second! I'm shocked amazed and speechless!!! What a awesome job you did don't give a f... is 3 well or two😃 the amount of work and details simple amazing😍😍😍 don't know what to say more, maybe just thanks allot you show us your art😍😍😍
That is so cool of you to say, Rafal! I appreciate you watching! : )
I really enjoy the banter between father and son.. and as always your builds are top shelf. They sure don't make toys like they used to.. Great job brother.
Thanks 👍
When u give a thumbs up before the ad ends and you see the video just cus you love mad max!!!
Right on! : )
Muito Bom o seu Trabalho.
Ficou perfeito. Parabéns.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
My GOD, was this awesome! 😳
You just got yourself another sub, dude!
Thank you so much! : )
"I am gravely dissapointed you haven't subscribed"....... I totally lost it there, and subscribed.
Then my plan worked perfectly! : ) Thanks Felipe!
That was an amazing build- great work T-Nu.
I really appreciate that!
Excellent work!!! I love it.
Thank you very much!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!!
Thanks!
I had the same Rocky Horror book when I was a kid! also, nice cameo of your wife’s paintings 😊
Cheers, Lisa! I'm glad you noticed the background book! : )
...wasteland... great work, my good sir!
Thank you kindly!
great way to start a new year and new Season, T-Nu! I love that this was a paused project, and to see your skills have grown, in your craft. All now you need it a road warrior action figure T-Nu, to drive the truck. Also, your Daddy's training for a "Wasteland" sounds like it would of been "fun" growing up ;3
Wrestling in full leather garb during the hottest days in a Louisiana summer was not fun. Trust me. : )
An action figure... Hmmm... I like! Thank you! : )
@@CajunCraftastrophe oof the hottest, I bet that was hard to do any work. Aye, I think that would be amazing if you did an action figure, and from what I have done with making stop motion armatures, it works in some parts the same, but using green stuff or milliput or like items helps to change the figure into any character... and painting. but still I think it would be cool to see you create an action figure as kitbashing or what not.
Amazing, that looks so good!
I also watched the Road Warrior a couple of times too many as a kid, but I still love it. If I had to picka a single favorite movie, Mad Max 2 probably would be it!
Yes, it is also my opinion that MM2 is the best one. : ) Thanks!
Terrific job! very detailed and so many custom parts!
Thank you very much!
Бог мой, красота какая!!
Спасибо!
A major success. Hip ttunes throughout. Next level work and a great audition for working at Weta.
Obvious thing to me is putting your cell in a hole to film the truck driving over it.
Yes, that would be a cool camera angle. Thanks so much sclogse!
Awesome 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
What a way to start Season 3! Got to say your Mad Max war rig looks awesome! I've always been partial to the mack truck before it becomes the war rig personally, but this looks really amazing. Here's to another year of crafting
Thank you! : ) Trucks don't look right to me unless they have at least one spike. : )
Absolutely amazing
Cheers man! Thanks!
As an Australian, I fully approve of this rendition of my everyday drive to work.
Haha! Nice mate. : )
Excellent attention do detail. Now you need a matching one for humilk from the last movie.
You never know... I just might. Thanks!
Great job !
just found ur channel, ur work is sick and ur video making is so entertaining and makes me not want to miss the process with your winning personality without you giving away the result, real hidden gem
Thank you. That's very cool of you to say!
This is amazing!! Holy shit I know where to go if there’s an apocalypse of indeterminant origins while I’m traveling through the outback! Just one more tank of juice!! Every Mad Max film is incredible, also that video game was amazing too!! The Road Warrior and Fury Road are literally always neck and neck, or chaps to spike shoulder pads in which one is my ultimate favorite.
I'm only in it for the guzzolene, mate. : )
Thanks for watching!
This is one my favorite projects on the channel! It looks incredible, I love the attention to detail. You used some really cool techniques, I especially like how you did the barbed wire! Thanks for another awesome video
Thank you very much! You can make actual barbed wire with the little barbs, but man 22 gauge wire sticking out about a millimeter will cut or pierce your fingers like butter. : 0
It also is pretty time consuming, so this method seemed like a good fit on this project. Thanks again!
That came out really great, T-Nu!
I really appreciate that!
This is soooo bad *$$!!!! Awesome sauce supreme! You never disappoint T-Nu!!!
Much appreciated!
Dude this project is absolutely incredible! Well done! I’m so glad you came back to finish it!
Thanks a ton, Retro! Yeah, I'm glad I came back to it too. It was silently mocking me every time I would walk by it. I can't live under the boot heel of an unfinished toy!!!! : )
I lost it when your dad said. you didn't talk till you were six, you were farel. Great job.
Haha! Thanks so much for watching! : )
@@CajunCraftastrophe you should look into the death race movie, for the battle wagon tanker truck and build that if you liked this model from mad max.
Epic build, you never fail to impress!
Rock on man! Thank you. : )
That is absolutely amazing 🤘
Thanks so much, Robbi!
This came out great!
Much appreciated!
Badass build T-Nu!! The added bit of actually welding the truck was a great addition to the overall scrap feel of it. I also watched this movie a lot as a kid, brought back some good memories!
Rock on! Yes, welding and toys are usually a bad combo. I'm glad that it worked out this time. : )
Love it. Great project!
Thank you! Cheers!
Kudos to you, excellent job!!!
Thank you kindly!
Awesome detail, especially with the rust/weathering, and I love your commentary!
Thank you very much!
