I really miss these guys, life was really fun back then , of course it was before 911
R.I.P., Mr. Knotts.
Don Knotts in Pleasantville is canny casting. He was perfect. Sweet and a little creepy around the edges.
Why did he complain about the color at one point and then at the end he seems happy?
This show itself?!
A very nicely running masterwork on how to make a fantastic movie critic show! RIP, Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert! ☝🏻🥲
Let's just remember this: They sucked originally. It took them time to build up the chemistry on PBS so at this point you can see they are pros.
Life is beautiful.
I love Pleasantville.
The Lion King 2👍🌟🌟🌟
Pleasantville👍🌟🌟🌟🌟
Apt Pupil 👎🌟🌟
Life is Beautiful 👍🌟🌟🌟
Just re-watched Pleasantville. Still very good but falls flat in it's second half, little heavy handed on the social stuff and 4 love stories. Has it's moments though for sure.
This was uncomfortable to watch, seeing Siskel speaking slowly and slurring his words.
Watch his last few shows. It's very difficult to see Roger have to play softball criticism with Gene. Also, I noticed Gene was basically giving thumbs up to almost everything at that point.
Not uncomfortable. Is very sad...
My reviews
Pleasantville (4 stars out of 5)
The Alarmist (3 stars out of 5)
The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride (3 stars out of 5)
Apt Pupil (2 stars out of 5)
Life is Beautiful (5 stars out of 5)
I agreed with Gene and Roger, too. I really loved "The Lion King II: Simba's Pride" a lot more. I also agreed what Gene said that this movie is not originally released in movie theaters, but directly into video stores. This was the final draft gradually became a variation and it was influenced by William Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet." Though, it's not as good as the original, but it does follow the story very well, and I loved the love romance between Kiara and Kovu. Anyway, I really loved this movie a lot, probably my favorite sequel. A marginal thumbs up for me on "The Lion King II: Simba's Pride".
The Lion King II: Simba's Pride (1998) 3.5/4 👍👍👍
Pleasantville is the movie that I was supposed to watch in Theaters but my parents said that I could forget it I was very upset
pleasantville is a clever movie but Life is Beautiful is much better.
Apt pupil should have been a masterpiece but it just wasnt done correctly
La Vita e Bella is derivative of the 1976 Oscar-nominated German film "Jakob the Liar" (which was, interestingly, remade 23 years later starring Robin Williams in a dour performance).
it's a bad bad bad movie too
@@samweisberg3673 The German one or Life is Beautiful? But i liked Life is Beautiful 1997 movie
@@matrix91234 I think he meant Jacob the Liar was a “bad, bad movie”
Toby looks and sounds like a young, slightly overweight Sheldon Cooper! (3:28)
what movie are they talking about here? 14:08
Apt Pupil
It has been many years since I saw Life Is Beautiful, but I remember finding it highly obnoxious. I'm surprised these guys liked it. Talk about watering down the Holocaust. Also, that lead actor is one of those types you either really like or can't stand. By the time I saw L.I.B., I was already in the latter camp because of his take on The Pink Panther. (Both he and Steve Martin should have left the Pink Panther movies alone.) I never saw his version of Pinocchio, but it looks pretty horrendous, too.
14:07: there was another movie about a next door nazi years before Apt Pupil
I thought Pleasantville was overrated.
I think it is pretty good, it may have aged a little poorly, comes off as overly earnest. But the acting and production design are terrific.
@@Harkness78 I just didn't think it was anything special.
It’s a great film to look at, but its liberal undercurrent in the story is lame.
what horrible racism from the 50's
it's so much better now
literally nobody has nostalgia for the 50's
.................................
Democrats and the liberal media are doing their best to bring back racism.
Pleasantville is atrocious
You're not too bright, are you?
It's overrated, I'll admit that.
