I swear, I don't care what happened in my day or how depressed I am at the moment, Roger Ebert's genuine emotional laugh can bring a smile to my face and lighten my spirits. Once he said that he has an "infectious laugh". Boy is it ever. His laugh is so genuine and heartfelt it just warms me up.

LOL at Gene so casually giving away the ending to Jacob's Ladder.

For real. Also in the original aired review I remember Siskel thumbing down the film, where as Ebert praised it. Personally one of my favorite films and you really shouldn’t watch it the first time knowing the ending. Not as crazy as say Sixth Sense was I suppose but the ending to Jacob’s Ladder is practically the whole point of the movie.

I think What About Bob? is just about a perfect movie. It is so consistently funny. The moments that are intended to be funny are always actually funny. Plus, I think the movie is perfectly cast. Richard Dreyfus is the comic equal of Bill Murray. A perfect pairing.

It's much funnier now because OCD and therapy is more mainstream now.

This & Groundhog Day was my favorite All time Bill Murray films. Although Gene was right little did we know all of the turmoil between Dreyfuss & Murray. Mainly Dreyfuss with his ego. How they portrayed it on the screen was nothing more than a comedy masterpiece.

You got it backwards. Gene criticized Dreyfuss's performance as being too over the top and annoying.

What's crazy about these shows is you see movies reviewed that never seem to be shown anymore. It's the same movies over and over on TV. How many times can you show LotR for God's sake.

Totally agree with Siskel. What About Bob is gross. You can sense on screen the behind the scenes bullying that Murray did to Dreyfuss (anti-Semitic comments etc.).

Siskel always baffled me..focuses on Only the Lonely's Maureen O'Hara as racist instead of an old Irish woman set in her ways. Even back then there were people like him stirring the pot instead of allowing people to make light of themselves. Sticks and stones Gene! But oh well, I always enjoyed these two talking about movies but never based what I watched on their recommendations!

Exactly. Woke people are insane and they don't allow any dissenting opinions. For example, Roger stated that Not Without My Daughter was racist. A woke person would have said the film should be burned. Roger said the film should be viewed in order promote a discussion.
