    $20 for the weber chimney or $70 for the fan and chimney combination.Think I'll stick with the weber and wait a little longer for my coals

      I picked up a chimney starter for $10 and a kettle for $50 both on special so you dont have to spend a lot, I find with the chimney that you dont need a dragon, just a fancy hair dryer.

    What I found that works wonders is using my Weber Chimney with my leafblower. Trust me, I had no idea how it would work but I decided to try it and immediately noticed how it was feeding the air like a bellows. You aim for the bottom and it catches the air blows it upward. Looks like a furnace. I put on a medium speed and it takes me about 2 minutes to get my coals going. The only drawback is that embers tend to fly around but other than that, it's awesome!

  • @SmokyRibsBBQ

    Hey Troy! Nice experiment brother! We do think a lot alike. Right after David and I shot the cold grate steak video here, I instantly ordered the BBQ Dragon after watching him use it and seeing how fast and hot he could get the charcoal up. Haven't used it yet, but I will eventually wear it out LOL! Cheers brother!

    • @TROYCOOKS
      @TROYCOOKS  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do like the fan and it does work great getting my Wichita fired up quicker, but I'm not a fan of the chimney. I prefer the Weber chimney. Thanks for watching Rus!!!! Cheers brother!

    • @SmokyRibsBBQ
      @SmokyRibsBBQ 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, we just used the weber chimney on a grate, and let the Dragon blow under it to speed up the time. It would be hard to get use to a smaller chimney. A full load in the Weber is usually just the right amount for a Weber kettle

    My regular Weber chimney starter is super reliable just using one of those wax cubes from them. It takes a little while to get the coals hot and ashed over, but I use that as last minute prep time or to just have a beer or two. This looks great for if I was in a rush or something, but I generally grill and BBQ to relax and have a good time. Still a nice option though.
    Cheers, Troy, and love the new intro.

    I use my Weber chimney and my Ego blower... cram some of the paper from the charcoal bag in the bottom light it wait a few minutes for some of the charcoal to light stand back about 2 meter with blower on low and feed the fire. About minutes of blowing and I am already dumping my coals into the WSM to start building heat.

    Good gadget, but I would just wait it out. If I need it quicker I would use compressed air. Always worked to speed up the 🔥

    Nice idea. Would like to have the same volume as the Weber. The Weber charcoal chimney seems to be a standard. It's nice when a recipe says a full Weber chimney.

      Yes, I agree Tom. I'm not sure why they made theirs smaller?

    I bought the guru pit viper for low and slow smoke sessions. I’ll try it out, it would blow air from underneath the chimney.

    You and Baby Back Maniac ( Jason) should have your own television cooking show. It would be great entertainment, and great information on barbeque. You guys have good chemistry working together.
    In regards to to the two chimneys, I can't justify the cost difference between them. The Weber is $14.00 vs the Dragon (with the fan) is close to the$70.00 mark. Anyway You and Baby Back Maniac (Jason) find a way to get your own television cooking show , I'd definitely watch it.
    Keep on grilling and chilling !!

    Weber seems to be the only one with the cone shaped grate on the inside. It increases the surface area for the charcoal to catch fire while directing fire up the middle to light the top coals faster. Well thought out design.

    Hey bro I hope you are doing well. I'm diggin that Dragon Chimney. I may pick one up in the future. But I'm usually doing other things why the charcoal is lighting anyway. Have a great weekend! Oh yea love the theme song.

    Aww man! I've missed this channel. When did you get a theme? I finally have a situation where i can utilize what I've learned from this channel. As always, well done and fun to watch. I think I'll pass on the bbq dragon, but good info none the less. Glad to see you're still cooking responsibly 😊

    Also check out the weber compact chimney or mini chimney? It's the weber chimney, only the baby version. Great if you need to only start a few briquettes for low n slow or just have a smaller grill.
