    Great video as always. I read a few reviews where riders have said you need to learn how to ride the 130 and 150 due the long reach. Such as shifting hips and weight forward especially when cornering. Do you find the 130 to be less intuitive to cornering if you're not doing this?

    • @mtbsavant5414
      @mtbsavant5414  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that's something I noticed but failed to mention in the video. If you notice at 2:57 in the video I had the front end understeer or wash out on a left hand turn because I didn't have enough of my weight over the bars. I didn't notice this later because I subconsciously corrected as I got used to this bike. Nothing too major but something to call out. There's very little need to shift your weight too far back on these latest slacked out bikes.

    • @mtbsavant5414
      @mtbsavant5414  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The lower standover and shorter seat tube means we can choose between M or L based on desired reach. The M didn't feel significantly longer in reach than my 4.5 which kind of surprised me but the wheelbase difference is significant. Not sure I'd want a longer wheelbase to keep it agile. Definitely try both sizes if you can.

    • @mtbsavant5414
      @mtbsavant5414  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say 160mm for sure and pose the 170mm question to yeti. My guess is it wouldn't be an issue since the seat tube angle is so steep. This would also raise the bottom bracket slightly which isn't a bad thing on this bike on Rocky climbs

    Great video,, I recently purchased the SB150, with DT Swiss Carbon rims,, XO1 with WTB tires,, size large , it is over 32 pounds with pedals.
    My previous bike is a Pivot 429 Trail,, yesterday I improved my downhill times from 5:55 to 5:27 seconds,, which is great,, but my uphill times were 2-3 minutes slower. Did I make a mistake by not getting the SB130?? or do I need both?

    • @TheNick96734

      Wow! 32 pounds with carbon hoops?! That is outrageous. I demoed the sb150. It felt great going down, but was definitely heavy and sluggish when climbing. The '19 bronson climbed much better IMO. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do some blistering descents on the sb150 which I'm sure is where this bike shines.

    Thanks for the video, great content as always. Imin the market for a yeti, and still undecided between a discounted 4.5 or 130. The question that I haven't seen a proper answer for is: how does the 130 compare to the 4.5 re climbing? I was really impressed by the 4.5 when I did a test ride (climbing wise), but didn't have a chance to try the 130 yet. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    • @mtbsavant5414
      @mtbsavant5414  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're very different bikes which will become apparent immediately. As you'd expect the 4.5 feels lighter and is more efficient when climbing but that steep seat tube angle on the 130 has spoiled me. Climbing aside the 4.5 overall feels more XCish with it's telepathic steering and sport tuned suspension. The 130 is more relaxed and composed when it gets rough and rowdy. I assumed the 130 would be an easy replacement to the 4., but after riding it one can make the case of keeping both in the stable. They're that different IMO.

    • @flow2tech

I have a 4.5 now and love it, but am wondering what my future bike may be. I really like how nimble and playful the 4.5 feels and I would hate to lose that on the 130. The 130 will be a shock to you initially. Has nothing to do with the 130 specifically but more to do with the evolution of bike geometry. These newer bikes have less telepathic steering, are heavier and generally less "playful" than their previous counterparts IMO. The trade off is stability when you're really sending it.

    • @mtbsavant5414
      @mtbsavant5414  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I continue to be impressed with the Stumpy. With a Fox 36 I'd put the stumpy right up there in terms of capability. I'd give the slight edge to the 130 on climbing based on its slightly firmer platform under power. That being said the Stumpy is a much better value overall.

    You answered all my questions. I would only wonder what a 140mm fork ride like or is that dumb?
    Undecided. I want a sporty trail bike. Demo’d sb5.5 and Didnt like how it climbed and felt sluggish.

    • @mtbsavant5414
      @mtbsavant5414  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't underfork this bike because it's going to put your pedals even closer to the ground. I haven't ridden the 5.5 but I'd imagine this bike feels a tad snappier especially with a lighter wheelset. That being said if snappy is what you're looking for an SB100 or 4.5, Pivot trail 429 could be your ticket. All have a shorter wheelbase than the SB130.

    Debating on building a 4.5 or 130. Which direction would you go?

    • @mtbsavant5414
      @mtbsavant5414  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really depends on where and how you ride, as they're very different. 4.5 has more XC flair so it rides stiffer, pedals and steers faster. SB130 is more relaxed and serious going down but a bit more to move around.

    • @brandondouk
      @brandondouk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Everything functions properly th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of TH-cam. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!
