Afghanistan Helmet Cam Combat - US Marines Ambushed By Taliban At Close Range

- Intense helmet cam combat footage from Afghanistan shows a group of US Recon Marines being ambushed by Taliban fighters at close range in Sangin.
The ambush took place on a field between several compounds after an airstrike and was repelled by small arms fire and a couple of M203 grenades.
The video is short but still pretty intense and gives a good look into the dangers marines and soldiers faced in the War in Afghanistan.
Ambushes like this were no rarity in Afghanistan and mostly the main fighting method of the Taliban after I.E.D attacks on coalition forces.

Way different than being a Marine in Iraq going block to block, house to house. I never served in Afghanistan, but everyone of my marine buddies who stayed in and did said 95% of the time they couldn’t even see what, who or where from they were bing shot at. Way different dynamic than what we went through in Fallujah.
You murder poor people trying to defend their homes. There was no honor in those wars.
Enemy in fallujah had much more force power than taliban and 5 of them in each house waiting for you to come.
@@bunhlsabunbunletssaveanima7953 Sometimes way more then 5 and they’d fight to the death because they had no-where to go. The Taliban would put their weapons down walk away and then become “non-combatants” because they lived a few huts down. Bogus as hell!!!
I feel pity and bad for all the soldiers' efforts going in vain due to the insensibility and apathetic world leaders and their insensitive politics.

Yeah agreed it reminds me of the Nam war VC in the jungles most of the time they used hit-and-run tactics and the Gis had a hard time seeing them find them in the jungles and stuff!!

Wondering why the raid is happening in the daytime. I'm just speculating, but I would bet that this marine platoon has night vision gear (and I'd bet that just about zero of the taliban ever did.) Since it's a naturally fortified target, why not attack at night?
GWOT was full of "wtf" calls, but I don't know for sure in this case.
Many possibilities
1. You hit targets based on Intel. If the target is there during the day, that's when you go.
2. Partner force may not have night vision, or they might be terrible at night
3. Could just be that this was a presence patrol or key leader engagement, which usually happen during the day
4. Multi day operation
At a certain point, doing shit at night has got to be boring predictability. I'm actually surprised there was a daytime operation

I didn't know the marine corps infantry were issued (knights armament) suppressors. Thought that was only in the marine corps TIER 3-2 units
These are recon guys. Nowadays some grunt units get suppressors too though.

Nope. Should be impact after traveling a certain distance.
ACOG with RMR or LPVO?
Looks like a plain old RCO to me if thats what youre asking. I dont see an RMR and my guess is this predates LVPO in regular Marine Corps use. Looks like a basic sopmod m4 with an NT4 suppressor and m203. Peq15 and RCO.
Just my .02 based on video quality. The dude that was bounding had a bolt gun of some sort. Might be a scout sniper platoon component or maybe STA team. Bolt gun might be an m40 variant, I cant keep up with them.

Aks aren’t even inaccurate and definitely have more stopping power than our ar15s. They just suck at shooting.
AK's do have more stopping power then AR-15's. This is because of the size of the round compared to .223/5.56. However, AR's are significantly more accurate then AK's.
I honestly like both. They have their pros and cons.

The soldiers need a little bit more training l think, having a left hand line of sight from cover on the edge of the compound but firing from their right side exposing their entire bodies while trying to acquire and engage targets. Very basic. Its a wonder none of them got shot.

Aussie guy we do learn how to shoot from both sides but this wasn't a close quarters environment so it wasn't as necessary as you're making it out to be.

What the heck. This isn't COD, most of the time, you never see your enemy at all before you die. Number 2, these are head cams, so the actual Marine's eyesight is different. Third, TH-cam ISN'T ALLOWING DEAD BODIES ON SCREEN. And to counter what you said, while there are some violent places in Mexico, I'm REALLY quite sure the U.S military sees more action than a couple criminals with handguns and potentially a few illegal automatic rifles.
