Thanks for the info. It’s definitely not something that the dealers tell us, they just mention the fuel savings

Add 2 points. First everyone needs to know the fire risk- do a web search lithium battery fire. Once this fire starts it is very hard to put out, and can restart hours or weeks later. ANY damage to a cell can start a fire.
2nt. The very quick decreasing resale value. Once it is more common knowledge the risks involved in buying a used EV the used market will crash and you are totally out of any money you put into the thing. Then you have to figure out a way to get rid of the thing when junk yards will not even take them.

To be completely fair, EV ranks third in fire risk. PHEV and Hybrids are first followed by ICE for frequency of fires per 100 vehicles. You are right that once a fire is started, there's no stopping it as we saw in that container ship fire which was started by an EV. The resale issue is true for the U.S. However where I live, they are still selling close to brand new but I expect that to change with time. The fear of EV's and the fact that their range decreases with time is a huge factor in the rapid depreciation and the fact that Tesla lowers its prices monthly lol

@@Outsider.Reviews The question with EV is not if terrorist are going to use them, but when and where.
,...and I question the 3rd ranking of EV's per 100. I would guess that came out years ago before there were many EV's on the road.

@@dhollongstreet4725 2023 report. Hybrids are a combination of electrical motors and Combustion... Fire and electricity are not a good combination and it's two different motors working together therefore you double your chances of something going wrong.

worth mentioning some EVs have NEVER had a battery fire like the Nissan Leaf and some chemistries like LFP or LFMP are much much less likely to catch fire and finally, EV's catch fire at least 30 times less than ICE.

Most EV's come with a home charger and will plug into a regular wall outlet just fine. You failed to mention that.

Very true, however not convenient for a daily driver as most EVs take 2 to 4 days to charge via a regular outlet. I like the GM program that rebates $1500 to install one of their level 2 chargers. I will likely install a level 2 even though I don't yet own an EV just because when I get one for a week, it's a pain since I drive a lot of KMs everyday

Our Nissan Leaf costs less to insure than my wife's Subaru Forester and the tires are on schedule to last 40-50k miles.

To be fair, it also costs less to buy than your wife's Forrester and Subaru has the best AWD system in my opinion since I used to have a Forrester and might have another one in a couple of years since next year they will unveil the PHEV version... A Forrester wilderness PHEV... 😍

@@Outsider.Reviews My Wifes 2017 Forester was $32k new in 2017. I think we got it for about $28k otd back then and we got 0%. My 2022 Leaf retailed for $36,780 and we got $2k off sticker plus the $7,500 tax credit and 0% financing which was a good deal at the time but depreciation has not been kind to the Leaf and it's worth HALF now that it's 2 years old. My wifes Forester has done exceptionally well with depreciation and is still worth half it's original purchase price 7 years later.
