    Thank you thank you thank you! Internet baby is one month and I’m trying to increase my milkZ. In the hospital I was told to use formula because of jaundice and baby was losing too much weight. I was also have a hard time latching her on the left. I now use a sheild. But from this video I learned to keep baby at the breast as long and as often as possible. Very informative video!

    How to increase breast milk stimulation.is there any food to increase the level of milk.

    • @marycahillclc
      @marycahillclc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are no proven food to increase milk supply. Some mom feel like taking fenugreek helps but I truly feel like it’s a placebo affect. Many moms report that it even hurt their supply.
      The absolute best way to increase supply is baby at the breast more.
      Do you feed baby from the breast? What signs are you seeing that are showing low milk supply?

    Would I be able to go from bottle to breastfeeding? I can only pump about an ounce per pump every two hours

      Yes! ❤️. I have a video to help you to transition back to the breast and increase supply.
      How old is baby?
      Does baby latch onto the breast at all?
      Why did you go to exclusively pumping?

      @@marycahillclc she turns 2 months old tomorrow and yes we had trouble at first but now she latches great but she keeps getting off cuz she’s pushing for a bowel movement aside from that my supply is very low when I pump it out to see how much she is getting and after I try to breast feed every two hours I see if she wants a bottle and she eats it all so she was still so hungry. It made me feel to scared to even try cuz I can’t have her go hungry. I never got to breastfeed long enough to see if she was making six wet diaper a day

    • @marycahillclc
      @marycahillclc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@caitlynmurillo2718 That’s awesome that you know the 6 or more diapers rule. Keep that in mind as you get her back to the breast.
      Pumping in between your nursing sessions is not a good indicator of your supply. Baby can get out more milk than a pump and after 6 to 8 weeks, your body makes more of what baby takes out or what a pump takes out with lots of breast massage.
      Pumping 1 to 1.5 ounces an hour in place of feeding from the breast, is where you should be.
      Baby will often suck down a bottle because they are used to working to get it out of the breast so they suck it down fast and it pours out so easily.
      Check out that other video and tell me what you think 💕

    What would you say when baby is feeding for an hour and still wants more

    • @marycahillclc
      @marycahillclc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How old is baby?
      It’s common for babies to cluster feeding. That usually happens in the afternoon or evening. Babies cluster feed for comfort and for a little bit of extra fat.
      They are usually not feeding for that long because they need more to eat.
      Breastmilk has natural painkillers in it so if baby is teething or going through a painful growth spurt, breastmilk and Mommies arms will help.
      Are you seeing six or more wet diapers every 24 hours? Is baby cluster feeding often?

    • @EverydayMom943

      A month old ,He just loves to feed and will do it continuously especially at night that I feel tired .
      I have even opted to pump sometimes so that at night I will give him some extra from that so am not extremely fatigued

      @@EverydayMom943 That’s totally fine to pump and bottle feed him some extra at night. I know it can be so exhausting. When baby is cluster feeding at night, they usually aren’t needing extra milk but they are needing a little extra fat and comfort.

    Hello Mary ! I have a 13 week old baby . I really want to quit and want to just exclusively pump. I find breastfeeding so stressful because I am currently pumping and chest feeding because if not then I feel like my milk decreases. I know I’m not supposed to follow a schedule but if she doesn’t eat well in a feeding and sleeps longer i get so worried my milk will decrease . I am also confused about offering both sides since most of the times she will only take just one breast. Then other times will just take a little from a feeding and I get confused as to whether I should offer that same breast or the opposite because if I offer that same breast so she can empty it then the opposite breast will not be stimulated. I’m also confused about when I know when my breast is completely empty. When she has a full feed she takes very long and fusses sometimes. Really needing some encouragement thanks !!!

      I’ll answer these questions but I have a hunch that you might have a forceful letdown/oversupply. Have you heard of that?
      When you pump, how long after a feeding is it? And about how many ounces do you get?

    • @marycahillclc
      @marycahillclc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can definitely go to exclusively pumping. Pumping is a lot of work but for some moms, it can be less stressful. If you don’t have a forceful letdown/oversupply, you’ll need to pump on a regular schedule every day and add lots of breast massage to keep supply up. You will also, probably need to Pace Feed with a bottle. (I have a video on that if you’re not familiar).
      When you’ve been exclusively chest feeding and you feel like your supply is dropping, is that because your breasts are feeling empty? Many moms feel this and believe that they’re losing their supply but it’s actually normal to start to feel totally flat and empty. When you feel full, that feeling is actually Engorgement, which is inflammation of the tissue around the milk ducts. After a few weeks of breast-feeding, you should start to feel flat and empty just like before you were even pregnant. Your breast will still make all the milk that baby needs. You will always know for sure, that baby is getting enough milk if baby has 6 or more wet diapers every 24 hours.
      When baby starts to sleep longer at night, they will be taking in more when they’re awake. They might not take any longer to eat, but they are better at transferring milk and still taking what they need. Breastfed babies feeding from the chest eat an average of 24 ounces every 24 hours. Some babies take that in by feeding every couple of hours around the clock but others take that in, in just 12 to 18 hours.
      As baby gets older, they usually start to just nurse on one side. Offer the 2nd side but it’s probably ok if they won’t take it.
      When baby just nurses a short time, I would say that it’s just a judgement call. 50/50 guess 🤷‍♀️ lol
      Your breasts are never completely empty but by 13 weeks, they should be feeling empty after feedings. There’s no need to try to “completely empty”.
      Pumping after every feeding will actually cause baby to receive less fat. This is because you are making yourself produce more milk, so when baby eats, they are getting more fore-milk which has less fat. Baby can never eat enough to get down to that fattier hindmilk that you’re pumping out.
      I hope all of this has helped to better understand breastfeeding and assure you that you’re doing great!No matter how you feed your baby, you’re doing awesome! ❤️

      Wow thank you so much for taking the time to respond !
      I think my milk is dropping when I see my daughter fussing a little at the breast and I notice sometimes that i take longer to have a second let down so she gets impatient sometimes and that makes me more tense so I feel like I need to keep pumping to make sure I get a little more of what she needs to make sure she has more than enough but it’s very exhausting sometimes . I am currently pumping in the morning after feeding her around 8-9oz then at night time before going to bed around 4-5 oz . Do I even need to be pumping ? Thanks so much again Mary for your wonderful help!

    • @marycahillclc
      @marycahillclc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope! You definitely don’t need to be pumping. If at 13 weeks, you are still producing more than a few drops after a feeding, you have a forceful letdown /oversupply.
      She may be fussing if it’s not coming out as fast as she wants but it’s just that she’s not used to it coming out at a normal speed. She will adjust if you stop pumping. Most likely, she’s fussing because her tummy hurts. When you have a forceful let down, that’s not under control, it will usually cause baby all kinds of issues. When you’re making more foremilk milk, it has more lactose in it. it’s not that she has a problem with lactose, but a really huge amount will upset anyone’s stomach. Babies of moms with a forceful let down/over supply are often misdiagnosed as having dairy allergies. The symptoms can often look the same.
      When mom has this condition, baby will usually have a few symptoms. She may not have all of them, but here’s a few. Baby may be extra gassy and have tummy issues, have lots of explosive poopy diapers, often have green or gelatinous like poop. Sometimes have high weight gain but actually, more often lower weight gain. These babies usually have eight or more super heavy, wet diapers.
      Moms with this condition usually seem to worry more about low supply because they see such a difference in their body when their milk adjusts to what baby needs. I know that it can feel scary.
      Just so you know, when you have this condition, you will have it with every baby. Some babies see no effect at all and others have major problems. It’s just something to be aware of. I have some videos on it. I’ll link some for you. It makes breast-feeding rules. Totally different for you. It’s important to thoroughly understand it. ❤️
      Again, if breast-feeding is too stressful while feeding from the breast. There’s nothing wrong with going to be an exclusive pumper. Do what works best for you.
      Remember that baby should be eating around 24 ounces every 24 hours. So even though you pump out a larger amount, she should be getting around 24 ounces a day. This can vary from 18 to 30 ounces, but actually stays around 24. This amount is from a baby that is one month old until about six months. It usually stays about that same amount if baby starts eating solids. It may move up to about 30 ounces a day if she’s not quite ready for solids.
