Hello, I am from India, your videos are excellent and helped me alot to understand about breastfeeding. Could you please elaborate on sleeping cycle of baby and about night routine of newborns as sometimes I feel much demotivated when my baby wakes at the middle of the night and not sleeps for 4-5 hours and just crying. Please do tell us about this. It would be really helpful. Thankyou
Thank you! I’m so glad that the videos have been helpful 😃 Breast-fed babies wake up much more often to eat, because breastmilk is digested better and faster than formula. Breastfed babies eat small amounts, but more often. It’s normal for babies to not sleep through the night until six months old or later. Six hours is considered sleeping through the night. That sounds like your baby just wants to be up in the middle of the night though. 😴 How old is baby? Is baby having lots of gas? Has baby always done this or did it just start? There’s a few things you could try. If baby is not nursing often in the day, they will want to nurse more in the night. You could try to offer the breast more often during the day, even when baby isn’t showing hunger signs. You could try to offer the breast, much more often in the hours before bed. When baby eats more often, they take in smaller amounts, but end up getting slightly more fat from breastmilk. You could try “dream feeding” This is where you try to pick baby up and nurse baby as they are still sleeping. Does baby sleep in the same room as you? This can help baby to be on a sleep cycle similar to yours. ❤️
Is it normal if my 2 month old puts on 10gm.per day with breastfeeding or do I need to give formula feed as well? Her birth weight was 3.19kg and now she's 4.15kg.
You should be seeing 155gm or more in weight gain at this age. By my calculations, that puts baby at about 4percentile. That’s not necessary bad unless the 1 month weight percentile was quite a bit different. Do you know baby’s weight at 1 months? How many wet diapers is baby having every 24 hours? How often and how well is baby nursing?
@@marycahillclc thank you for your quick response. Her weight had dropped to 2.94kg by day 4. And from there her weight was increasing but not much - she was 3.07 kg a week before completing one month. Doc advised NICU admission where tshe we fed 60ml formula every 2 hours as she was not thriving. That resulted in her gaining 90gm overnight -weighing 3.19 kg on discharge. On completion of one month she weighed 3.4 kg. Today she completes 2 months and her weight is 4.19kg. Diaper - We're making her wear cloth nappy during day and diaper at night and total is 7-9 nappy in 24 hours. Feeding - 8-10 feeds based on demand ( night 2-3 times). She's also sleeping better from the last 3-4 days - avg 11 to 13 hours as compared to 7-8 hours only. And seems more satisfied. I do top up the expressed milk sometime if I feel she's not taken much. Plus I have one inverted nipple so supple is little low in that one, and she doesn't latch everytime. Hence, I have to keep expressing from there to feed her. The other one has a good supply. Now my breasts are also becoming uneven.

@@marycahillclc hi Mary, any guidance on the situation will be helpful.
@@swatinegi4469 How many wet diapers does she have every 24 hours? Do you know what her weight percentile was at 2 weeks and 1 month old?
@@marycahillclc she has 6+ diapers/nappy.
Her weight was around 2.94 kg on 2 weeks and 3.4 kg in 1 month. I'm not sure what percentile that would be.
