I'll never forget the fact that if you don't attack Zero and let him walk up to you, he gives a silent nod, before jumping back and fighting you for real. It's such a powerful scene because it shows that Zero even before he became a Maverick Hunter still had a glimmer of the personality he had in the X series.

In X4 during the flashback when Sigma fights Zero at the end the W that forms on Zero's crystal was I think the final process which Sigma interrupted uploading Wily's consciousness into Sigma instead, he basically follows the same pattern as Wily did during the Megaman Franchise and even alludes to meeting Wily in X5. My other theory is that X was created after Light analyzed the data from this fight but created a robot capable of adapting to his enemy. **edit** sorry I didn't give a clear reference to this statement 🙈. This was actually in reference to Megaman Legends when MM fought prototype Zero.

Do not shutdown or restart your device until update is complete 😭🤣 Zero's personality did a complete 180 after that and he wasn't a machine intent Soley on killing anymore but Sigma had the opposite effect. Zero seems to have channeled his killer instinct and aggression into maverick dispatch which is why he is probably so cold and one track minded in terminating them. Also in the end of x5 after the defeat of Sigma in the good ending just before he fires the beam that goes through both x and zero. Notice the dialogue box, it doesn't show Sigmas name but rather "??" That says "drop dead". I believe this to be Willys consciousness or will in a last ditch effort to destroy X when Sigma was no longer active.

The "???" was just to give players a shock reaction at Sigma still been alive and been mere seconds from attacking a heavily injured X and Zero on the back only for Zero to react by confirming his name as *Sigma* and shooting back at him in return. As for everything else you said i can't say i agree given the lack of concrete evidence to suggest Wily wanted to put his mind in Zero's body or that Zero's personality is cold because of his original purpose.

If it was truly Sigma, they would have indicated it as such as they did through the rest of the game. Only at the final instance in the last moments of defeat was the ?? Shown in the dialogue box. I love how he didn't attack you at first. He was looking at you, observing you, he was curious, perhaps trying to find a way to relate to you for also being a robot, trying to find if you were like him in any way, and if he could find out about himself by observing you.
That's probably the most intimidating part about Zero's fight in this game. He's not fighting you, he's only trying to defend himself. It just so happens that he's so good at defending himself that he can still completely demolish you while doing so.

I always felt Wily built zero in his image. That zero is what Wily looked like as a young man. It would make sense... Wily is a huge narcissist and it's not a stretch to believe he would build his most powerful creation to essentially be him. Perhaps Wily intended to transfer his mind into zero and kill megaman with his bare hands and then rule over earth forever.
I think what I like the most was: it shows the coming inferiority of the old robot masters and Megaman himself, it shows that time actually PROGRESSES in Megaman's universe without significant jumps, even if it is a fan game, I count it as canon in this sense. (Also the song is awesome, I meant story wise of the game '^')
It may as well be cannon at this point...god knows capcom is too busy beating the dead horse that is megaman classic to care about what happens later on. #Crapcom

Capcom did mention that the virus that was in Zero was never finished, I'm assuming a kill switch. Also, the moment he finished Zero was the moment he died. They've also beat around the bush with or in the X series as well but Japanese storytelling never involves Chekov's Gun. If there is an X 9 (they teased it) it's gotta address that as well as Axl's infection.
This shows just how superior X is to megaman. X at his weakest could at the very least damage zero. However megaman couldn’t so much as damage a prototype zero while he is at full strength.
My headcanon for Zero becoming good is that he saw how determined Rock was to defeat him even though everything he was doing seemed useless, it made him see that power didnt matter if you did not have drive, and while he had much power, he had no desire to misuse it, so instead he decided to fight for the cause he believed was right.

There's something I find really interesting about this fight. And it's the fact that Megaman can't even hurt zero, now in the surface that seems to make sense until you realise that EVERY robot and reploid can hurt zero in the X series, that makes sense gameplay wise but it you count unlimited canon even if it's a fangame (which let's face it, everyone does) that means that every robot in the X series (by robot I mean regular enemies, I sincerely doubt those count as reploids) is thousands of times stronger than Megaman a nice even with his full arsenal he couldn't even scratch Zero. So basically, Megaman would be the equivalent of an enemy that dies in one hit in the X series since most enemies take a few shots to kill in those games. I get they wanted to show how advanced zero was, but keep in mind, he's still a prototype, he doesn't even have a weapon at this point. Of course it could also be that this fight is the equivalent of X vs spark mandrill in X1, with Megaman standing in for spark mandrill and Zero standing in for X, in the sense that spark mandrill is really strong, but if you happen to have the shotgun ice, he can't do anything, only that zero is the shotgun ice and Megaman is the enemy that can do a lot on his own, but is simply countered in every single way. This is my personal theory to why Megaman can't do anything, because zero here is pretty much the weakness of a boss turned character. Otherwise the first thing I wrote is pretty insane to think about.
I can see Dr.wily perfecting the hair and face before anything else and that's what makes me smile. He's such an amazing and fun villain to fight. Too bad we don't get villains like that anymore instead we have sigma and a bunch of generic Edgy kids who got bullied once and now wants the world to bow before them and they have an edgy personality and blah blah blah, I'm looking at you infinite. Why can't an official game of any franchise have a moment like this? When fans ask for more: moments like Mega Man's encounter with Zero are what they really crave.
He also seems to lack his Zero Buster since he doesn't seem to have a Buster attack in his fight. Or he did have it and he's too much of a badass to use it.

I really love that bit of Megaman Zero theme hidden behind the soundtrack if you listen closely enough. You can really tell that the creators did the game with passion.
Just the best character in all the X and his own sagas. And I love the part where the game proposes that Zero didn't have a blaster but then megaman appears. He most like thought: "I don't have that shooter thingy... But I will." And from there on out he had a blaster like other reploids
If I am to count this game as head canon, Zero at the moment wasn't programmed to be violence yet. He just booting up and see Rock, slowly walks up and stares him down. Out of sheer intimidation Rock finally make a move first and Zero seeing that enters combat mode which easily overpowered Rock, cutting his arm. Zero's reactor malfunction as it's not stable shutting him down before he can finish Rock off and Wily took him for retreat. After Wily finished building later and put the virus on him, the virus is what make him violence. Then fast forward to early X era where Sigma found him rampaging and defeats him, it released the virus on Sigma which make him Maverick while Zero free of it at last reboot his first innocent personality. His data recall Rock's determination for good when he fought Zero, so Zero learning that and make it his own code, turning him good and become Zero we all know and love.
I love how this isn't simply the MMX5 X vs. Zero theme in 8bit style. It's the X vs Zero theme with Zero's heroic theme from MMX1 playing underneath it.

At the end of the day wily always wins Wily created a superior robot that outlived light's greatest creation and managed to become the true hero of the mega man timeline

Just because Zero was way out of Megaman's league doesn't mean plain old X bosses are too. Megaman just didn't have have a buster capable of affecting Zero. If Dr. Light can build one for X, he could easily have upgraded Megaman's.

Considering that megaman would have been there helping light, and seeing his brother being made. and the fact that light was perfectly fit in the megaman series, and was dieing when creating X, One can only presume that megaman had been destroyed.
Damon Steele No. The fate of Megaman (and mostly everyone from the classic series besides the doctors) is unknown, but the one thing that was confirmed was no one was killed by Zero. Megaman could be dead at the hands of some other robot after a hopeless fight, or he could simply be deactivated once his expiration date was hit. Maybe he even retired from being a fighting robot and went back to just being Light's assistant full-time and went out that way. Megaman's fate is an open book that will never be closed.

The 2 ironic things about this final boss here is zero's name and meaning and the era. Zero in some cases places is known as the first number or the last, the beginning of something or the end of it. In this case its hauntingly and heroically both especially if you know the entire series story line. even if its never stated this game might as well be canon and playing this boss feels so weird knowing the future. What started with zero will eventually end with zero

He used his fist to punched Mega Man's arm off before shuttin' down only cuz he's incomplete and STILL DASH-PUNCHED THAT BUSTA OFF. I don't think Ciel know about Zero's past and oh god....Alouette of all people shouldn't need to see this.

There's something I find really interesting about this fight. And it's the fact that Megaman can't even hurt zero, now in the surface that seems to make sense until you realise that EVERY robot and reploid can hurt zero in the X series, that makes sense gameplay wise but it you count unlimited canon even if it's a fangame (which let's face it, everyone does) that means that every robot in the X series (by robot I mean regular enemies, I sincerely doubt those count as reploids) is thousands of times stronger than Megaman a nice even with his full arsenal he couldn't even scratch Zero. So basically, Megaman would be the equivalent of an enemy that dies in one hit in the X series since most enemies take a few shots to kill in those games. I get they wanted to show how advanced zero was, but keep in mind, he's still a prototype, he doesn't even have a weapon at this point. Of course it could also be that this fight is the equivalent of X vs spark mandrill in X1, with Megaman standing in for spark mandrill and Zero standing in for X, in the sense that spark mandrill is really strong, but if you happen to have the shotgun ice, he can't do anything, only that zero is the shotgun ice and Megaman is the enemy that can do a lot on his own, but is simply countered in every single way. This is my personal theory to why Megaman can't do anything, because zero here is pretty much the weakness of a boss turned character. Otherwise the first thing I wrote is pretty insane to think about.
Apparently making human-like face and cool hair was more important for wily than weapons and armor... I would never expect that from him O_o

I can see Dr.wily perfecting the hair and face before anything else and that's what makes me smile. He's such an amazing and fun villain to fight. Too bad we don't get villains like that anymore instead we have sigma and a bunch of generic Edgy kids who got bullied once and now wants the world to bow before them and they have an edgy personality and blah blah blah, I'm looking at you infinite. I am guessing Zero is unfinished here. Since he lacks his armor, so this was his beta build in the game.
He also seems to lack his Zero Buster since he doesn't seem to have a Buster attack in his fight. Or he did have it and he's too much of a badass to use it.

I really love that bit of Megaman Zero theme hidden behind the soundtrack if you listen closely enough. You can really tell that the creators did the game with passion.
This really has the feeling of the future is coming and is staring at you in the face :D
Just the best character in all the X and his own sagas. And I love the part where the game proposes that Zero didn't have a blaster but then megaman appears. He most like thought: "I don't have that shooter thingy... But I will."
And from there on out he had a blaster like other reploids

If I am to count this game as head canon, Zero at the moment wasn't programmed to be violence yet. He just booting up and see Rock, slowly walks up and stares him down. Out of sheer intimidation Rock finally make a move first and Zero seeing that enters combat mode which easily overpowered Rock, cutting his arm. Zero's reactor malfunction as it's not stable shutting him down before he can finish Rock off and Wily took him for retreat. After Wily finished building later and put the virus on him, the virus is what make him violence.
Then fast forward to early X era where Sigma found him rampaging and defeats him, it released the virus on Sigma which make him Maverick while Zero free of it at last reboot his first innocent personality. His data recall Rock's determination for good when he fought Zero, so Zero learning that and make it his own code, turning him good and become Zero we all know and love.
This sounds so canon.
I love how they use all of zero's themes in this :D It's beautiful.
I love how this isn't simply the MMX5 X vs. Zero theme in 8bit style. It's the X vs Zero theme with Zero's heroic theme from MMX1 playing underneath it.

Just because Zero was way out of Megaman's league doesn't mean plain old X bosses are too. Megaman just didn't have have a buster capable of affecting Zero. If Dr. Light can build one for X, he could easily have upgraded Megaman's.

Considering that megaman would have been there helping light, and seeing his brother being made. and the fact that light was perfectly fit in the megaman series, and was dieing when creating X, One can only presume that megaman had been destroyed.

No. The fate of Megaman (and mostly everyone from the classic series besides the doctors) is unknown, but the one thing that was confirmed was no one was killed by Zero. Megaman could be dead at the hands of some other robot after a hopeless fight, or he could simply be deactivated once his expiration date was hit. Maybe he even retired from being a fighting robot and went back to just being Light's assistant full-time and went out that way. Megaman's fate is an open book that will never be closed.

The 2 ironic things about this final boss here is zero's name and meaning and the era.
Zero in some cases places is known as the first number or the last, the beginning of something or the end of it. In this case its hauntingly and heroically both especially if you know the entire series story line.
