Great Pod Cast! I've been a Mets fan since 1962- The Mets need to play baseball! Stop the head games! I think the Mets can make the playoffs if they play good defense! and the offense continues to improve. They need to sign Alonso NOW! that will send a message to the team!

I like Stern's willingness to move off players that aren't performing. Although he could've been a little more patient with some of the relief pitchers he moved on from.
The mets schedule, I believe, gets them above .500 by the end of July. Yesterdays win was tremendous for their moral in so many ways. The flight home and making this trip a bonding moment with 100 games left give or take. Lindor in leadoff spot is working. If our closer can come back with fire and fury watch out!!! Gotta Believe!!!!

I believe it was JT Realmuto was the runner on that incredibly dirty slide into home. I was surprised that a catcher would do that to the opposing catcher. However, I realize that he is a Philly that says it all!

By July 4th I'd like to see them within 3 games of a wildcard spot and no more than 2-3 teams ahead of us. Anymore of a traffic jam I would be comfortable with a tear down. I also believe that they can trade away some players and still compete. Especially some starting pitchers and JD Martinez.

You both do a fabulous job on this podcast. Can relate to the predicament of the Mets in the standings. Much the same with the Rays. And it is only because of the third wildcard that our teams are even relevant right now. The major question as we get closer to the trade deadline is whether or to what extent they will both be sellers.
On the lighter side, good you incorporated the U.K. element into your analysis. Wonder how many Londoners are actually into MLB because it looked like much of the crowd were fans of the two teams, who made the trip from the States. Nevertheless, it made for a nice setting. And I have always been a sucker for a British (female) accent.🤣

Why did Luis Rojas Mendoza put Garrett in for a 3rd inning? He pitched the end of the 7th, the 8th and then started the 9th. Why? They were lucky to win that game, despite Mendoza's head-scratching decisions.
There's still just 4 teams above .500 in the NL, which is insane....so yes, the Mets can easily get on a hot streak and get back into it. I still don't think Diaz is going to work as the closer. Much like 2019, he just doesn't have it this year. Reed Garrett seems overworked, and overwhelmed once Drew Smith and Raley went down. I'd give Nunez a shot if Edwin comes back and still struggles. At least until the deadline and Stearns can maybe get someone else. Either way, they need a consistent closer if they want to compete. They'd probably already be at .500 if Diaz was right.

Luis Torrent has played shortstop in Venezuela. Im sure he cn play third he is just not just a catcher why not keep both Nido and him and option Stewart?
I’m hopeful. If they can lose so much in May, why can’t they win as much in June or July. It depends on the bullpen I think.
Love the show! Any suggestions to get my Kids to root for the Mets…I feel like they go against the Mets almost on purpose.. ages 12 and 16.. .. willing to try anything
One player that I think they can absolutely get besides Soto and quite frankly I think would be better for this team is Corbin Burnes I think a top of the rotation with those 2 would be electric and Stearns knows burnes well so maybe he could convince Burnes to come to Queens

Pitching is what we need most Soto does not pitch! We really need an ace starter which we did not get this year. Shore up the bullpen they are average at best. Pete Alanso, I think needs to be resigned. That's my opinion.
Why am I a Mets fan? Because my family hates to root for a winning team.
The Mets could get to .500 by August, but they have the league's hardest September schedule, so I just don't think they can make the playoffs this year.
