I hate it when people start talking about maintaining competitive balance and whatnot among colleges. Because for all that they are similar in many respects to professional sports, with very little difference between them, behind all the superstars and aspiring career athletes, are a bunch of regular kids who have worked hard at sports they love all their lives, and are currently peaking. To everyone who bitches about big programs with national followings putting small schools on their schedule to pad their records, I say, what ABOUT the players on those small schools, who will drink free for the rest of their lives on stories about the day they stepped onto the football field in Tuscaloosa or Columbus or Ann Arbor or South Bend or wherever. Why should the regular guys be denied the chance to play against USC or Clemson, because they were not good enough to get into a Pac-10 or SEC school? And why should genuine student-athletes be deprived of NIL money, because it's better for the sports journalists if they can discuss the NCAA like it's a professional league with a draft and parity?

As a Dodgers fan, when the score was 5-0, I was already composing my "Fire Dave Roberts" manifesto.

Game one - 3 hits, 9 opp runs, Game three - 4 hits, 8 opp runs; by Game nine, the Mets will get 13 hits and shut the Dodgers out.

Been all over the world, SD is my fav city. I live in LA, and its way too big to generalize it in 1 sentence. There are great areas, and lousy areas. SD/UTC/La Jolla/Del Mar is just great all around.

I'm concerned that Boras is sending the wrong message trying to get more years at lower AAV than the 3/90 the Mets reportedly offered, that's sending a strawng message that they expect Alonso to drop off hard in the coming years.

Andre Gimenez has been an above average player for Cleveland. 16.7 WAR in 3 years as a starter. Pete Alonso has 14.3 WAR over the last 4 years. Marte 3.8 war in his 3-year Mets career. Jeff Mcneil has 11 WAR in 4 years since the trade. Finally, Brandon Nimmo is the only one who comes close to Gimenez with 14.7 WAR since the trade (4 years). Cleveland got themselves a good player, Gimenez is no Lindor-level talent but he's very good.

I grew up in LA and lives in Orange County, obviously a Dodgers fan. But, I went to school at NYU and lived/worked in Manhattan for 14 yrs. NYC is great for people in their 20's and early 30's and I loved living in Manhattan. I did end up rooting for the Mets because most of my friends are Yankees fans - enough said. But, I missed the SoCal lifestyle - always sunny in SoCal with low 70s weather (dependent on location). Almost anywhere in SD, OC, or LA you're on the beach surfing in the morning, then drive 2 hours to the mountains to ski on the same day. Even driving on a freeway where you can see the ocean on the right and the mountains with snow caps on the left. So much to do and eat year-round.

San Diego native but life long LA Dodger fan. I discovered your podcast during Mets vs Dodgers NLCS. You guys absolutely rock. I continue to watch you guys even though I can careless about the Mets but ur delivery, your knowledge of the game of baseball is so impressive. I along with other doyer fans wish you guys would make it move to SoCal and you will love reporting on a winning team. I'm sorry but unless Juan Soto gets some protection, you will always be a wild card team. Last yr they over achieved and wouldn't be surprised if they don't even make the playoffs. Please come back n make SoCal ur permanent home!

LA, SD, SF are all beautiful, unique places, like so many other CA places. My family has Dodgers, Padres, and Giants fans. It’s so much fun. Of course I’m a Dodgers fan so I may enjoy it a bit more than my family members to the north and south.

Even as a lifelong Dodgers fan San Diego is a great city I wouldn’t be surprised if you sign Jack Flaherty to a 3yr deal for 75 million unfortunately he and Walker Buehler were odd men out with the Dodgers if you don’t sign Alonso you might have to look at Anthony Santender from Baltimore but he is a left handed power sandwich Vientos in between him and Soto could work was wondering how you felt about the Dodgers signing Comforto? TANNER SCOTT will never be a MET unless STEVE COHEN steps in and does the negotiating and signing. CHEAPSTAKE STEARNS will not sign TANNER SCOTT.

Bregman is not the answer to protect JUAN SOTO. HE LACKS THE POWER.

JUAN SOTO is supposed to be the METS' CROWN JEWEL and needs protection in the lineup and only ALONSO can give that protection.

They still haven't signed STANEK who did a pretty good job in the bullpen.

In fairness to Manaea, that is exactly how Chris Sale learned how to throw like Chris Sale too 😂😉 He talked about it on The Compound Podcast. He used to be a traditional over the top thrower all the way up to his Sophomore season in college. He played summer ball in the Northwoods League that year and saw a pitcher throwing from the 3/4 slot he uses now. Chris copied him and used that windup going forward.
