Grew up on Stapleton Rd back in the 60s. Had the best childhood ever, so much fun and adventure. Fond memories of getting up to all sorts of things with all my friends. Kids today don’t know what they’re missing 👍

@@darrenb7765I used to live in Withywood , South Bristol. It was never as rough as St Pauls in the 90's and is probably nicer than say, Fishponds is today. The sad facts are that most Bristol suburbs are overcrowded dumps with visible poverty and sky high rents , also the internet has killed the local high streets unless you want fast food or a Turkish barber.

Wasn’t expecting anything positive coming from St Paul’s. That’s where the riots kicked off in 1981 when Toxteth, Moss Side and Brixton went up.

I've grown up in and around St.Pauls all of my life as my family moved there in the 60s from the carribean and I've not once ever heard anyone refer to it as "stab central" 🤦🏽♂️

Yeah they've always had a great reputation for spray can art, BANKSY comes from Bristol. And some of his original art is hanging in posh galleries, with million pound price tags, it's come along way, ✌🏻😎.

Did some work there a year or two back, St Paul’s definitely has some characters, lots of van lifers and tents around but you know we never had an ounce of trouble Billy.

Stapleton rd is on Easton not St Paul’s and St Paul’s isn’t “an estate”. Estates in Bristol are on the south knowle, Hartcliffe etc. St Paul’s is now gentrified and property there costs a pretty penny. Go south of the river if you want to see real poverty

St pauls was not to bad when it was known as the front line and had the café, it used to be yardies but now its somalians and even the gavers go round mob deep. Ive worked all over Bristol and its a sound place. My mate djs at the black swan pub. Im surprised you didn't show the caravan city😂

Tbf, one thing Bristol has, like Liverpool, is a vibrant culture, a 'scene'. On its knees it may be (where isn't?) but dead it most definitely is not.
Graffiti: long history in Briz Billy. Always had a strong and creative counter-culture and still has.
My friends live in Easton black swan has closed used to go there and I will be in st pauls next month at the carnival

Always had a good reputation for spraying, you're bang on lad, me and my mates were well into it when I was younger, back in the early to mid 80s, spray can art and subway art, but Bristol always was the bench mark in this country, even Banksy from Bristol, and look at what is original stuff going for in posh galleries. ✌🏻😎.

St Paul's is not what it used to be, it's much more safe then 70-80s, Stapleton Rd much more safer then people think, try going to St Judes, Jamaica St and the bear pit...
Stapleton road never changes there has been 4 recent stabbings on the road

Last time I went to Bristol it was a very scary place, full of rastas with the long dread's, just walking round with machetes, and straps down the pants, that st Paul's was a no go zone, no old bill went anywhere near, you could tell it was once a prosperous place, don't know about now not been there in over 20yr, some good spray can art, top notch, hope you're Joe and Terry are well 👍💙, and you're ma 💙.
