I try to wake up at 6:00am every day even if I went to bed late the previous night. Its very cold where I'm from and I leave for a walk almost immediatly. Walking tired and cold is physical suffering but when the sun comes through and I feel my body warm back up its a great feeling. I've been applying this thought to my other activites
Continue with this master piece brother you inspire me already and I haven’t really made comment like this for awhile; the time I went Hiking and mountain climb somewhere 30 miles away from San Diego has made me appreciate mother nature… now you’ve made me understand it. Thank you so much Justinmonarch this is the new wave of generation we’ve been looking for you. Please protect this man at all cost we need him for personal development we need him to make more and educate us philosophies on a healthy mind and we’re here to support your content. I am here to go with you on this Journey and watch your videos you I hope we give you all the great support. P.S. I was here before 10 million views. Big smiles much love bro you’re changing the wave and you the first to do it
suffering is the reason for the growth I've been able to achieve in this life. I used to wince when it would come my way, now I choose gratitude when it shows it's face. it's really a beautiful thing disguised as something uncomfortable.
My mother passed away from cancer when I was 17 years old. It was just me and her so it devastated me and I had so much pain and suffering. Now I wonder if I would be a different person if she never passed away, would I have taken the risks I did if she was still here. Of course I would want her to still be around but it's very evident that the experience has built me to the man I am today. So instead of being upset or wishing she was still here, I just acknowledged my situation and determined to just be happy I spent my 17 years of life being raised by an amazing woman.
this is a very inspiring perspective, thanks for sharing. I experienced serveral losses over the last year and am still suffering from it, but your perspective kinda made it better just now.
I 100% agree, I love the segmenting and he keeps the videos short and directly to the point. I personally love the quotes for each segment as well. Also, great minds think alike. Keep it safe out there homie
"Once you learn how to suffer you'll suffer less". That quote truly embodies the message of the video. There is pain that can self-destructive and there is pain that can allow us to grow, just like Kahlil Gibran once said: your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. Great video as always! Your channel is a hidden gem.
Dude, I am watching stuff on TH-cam for like 14 years now and NEVER came to a channel that really touches my inner self like your videos do. all the best from Germany to u!
1:10 Technically, as a verb, suffering SIMPLY means to "experience or be subjected to." A lot of the time it is connected with negative experiences but it technically should be understood as JUST experiencing something, therefore you can actually come to enjoy the experience because you can learn from it. I learned about understanding suffering this way years ago while I was in therapy, its helped me quite a few times throughout the years.
You are a diamond in the rough, friend. Although named the Monarch Journal, I call you the Great Reminder for all the wisdom you impart that I forget when in times of need. So thank you, for being clear cut, concise, and creative. I hope to see more
Top tier imagery and insightful message as always, dude! Death by comfort is slow and pain free. Embracing discomfort is the only way to move forward. 🤘🏼
The ability for your outfit to always compliment the aesthetic is lowkey one of the best things about the channel... those orange gloves from the previous vid still live rent free in my head - gunna have to sort my wardrobe out ...
I live in the mountains and this video is what my backyard looks like! The beautiful snow adds so much more “survival” to my hikes and bike rides in the mountains. Happy trails, and enjoy the suffering.
Intresting, same Message as David Goggins, if you embrace suffering you are in charge. You decide when to surrender or conquer yourself. Really good separation between pain and suffering
I have been going through a tough period of my life mentally. In between jobs and I recently had a knee surgery, keeping me from doing many of the activities I feel make me, well me. But your videos have been a great encouragement in adjusting my perspective on the situation. Plus the scenic views are a nice little window out of my room at the moment too. Thanks!
Your story telling is very pleasing. The right mix of seriousness/advice with great humor. The scenery of your shots are also great. The Monarch Journal is such a story to follow to ease your mind and laugh to!
Your channel will become one of the biggest channels on YT if you keep this quality up. The cinematography, insights, and small doses of humor are phenomenal. Looking forward to your next videos :)
Been going through a rough time and feeling pretty numb to the world, and this video (and all your other videos I just binged) just seriously made me feel something. I don’t know how to explain it! Please never stop making videos!!!
Bang on once again! Having seen what feels like a million different people giving life advice I already know, somehow the way you bring it actually helps me to embrace it. Thank you
I’ve been driving my E-Scooter through Canadian winters the last 2 years, and living off $30k/year eating only Chickpeas/Lentils/Beans/eggs for protein I’m doing it since the money I’m forgoing is being reinvested in my business, and I’ve come to find a perverse satisfaction in the deprivation I stub my toe, I laugh as I kneel over in pain I’ve come to genuinely enjoy staying at the cheapest possible accommodations - you leave with the best stories and most bizarre experiences It’s all about choosing what I want you to suffer, and seeing the fun in it. As long as I have agency in my suffering, I’m content with it, if not happy
Theres a difference between choosing to go thru a difficult endeavor to those who are yeeted into the deep end from the get go. As much as I like this video, we must acknowledge it's also a privilege to be able to choose these kinds of suffering. Even me commenting is a privilege. Food for thought.
I love that your videos are outdoors, unlike most youtubers in a studio with artificial light. Nice reminder that there's a big wide world out there, and that creating doesn't have to happen hunched over a laptop. Thanks for doing what you do!
Suffering always lead to breakthroughs, much like how necessity leads to inventions. These are the things that change how we live most. Keep at it brother!
damn bro, this was one freaking spectacle of a video, i'm not easily impressed by stuff but you got it hitting different on me. Keep it up. Hope to see more.
So grateful TH-cam suggested one of your videos to me. I have been mentally struggling but have found recent peace within nature and I also work in the film and television industry so the topic, locations and cinematography of your videos all really resonate with me, they’re incredible.
Intended or not your videos always remind me a bit of Carl Sagan's Cosmos presentation and it sparks a small yet reassuring joy in me. Congratulations on another brilliant video. The ability to gather attention with a slow paced conversation, no shiny or overcomplicated sketches, just the nature background and carefully devised monologue where during the 5 to 8 mins of video I'm drawn in like nothing else in the world could capture my attention.
Hello Justin, and thank you for this channel. The content you produce really help me realise how I want to live my life. I am currently serving in the military so suffering is something I am pretty familiar with. But in the military, I've realised that suffering is key to developing myself. Before the military, I was a very anxious individual who valued other peoples opinion of me higher than my own. Now I've realised that I can never actually control what other people think of me. I can only learn to love myself more and build confidence in myself. And I did that through suffering and triumphing over said suffering. I hope you'll continue to produce such amazing content, 'cause I love tuning in to The Monarch Journal. Happy Journeys.
I just found your channel and binged every episode of the monarch journal. I love what you are doing. This wisdom is should be heard by everyone. Thank you for being the human that you are.
Just stumbled upon your channel recently. The way you deliver the message throughout your videos is simple but impactful. “Suffering is part of our training program for becoming wise.” - Ram Dass
What a run you're on! Amazing content as ever and your efforts to placate the suffering of the masses is much appreciated. All strength, love, and power to you, man
For the past few years I have been thinking to myself "Where is the passion in art anymore". With everyone making "content" designed to feed the algo. I remember a time where it used to be passion that drove profit, not profit that drove passion. I am a tattoo artist and it has content creator mindsets (willingly or not) have taken over the space, just due to it being the only way to get eyes on your work (so I don't blame them). Anyway, I deleted IG/Tiktok as I found everything I ingest on there is less beneficial than more. Then my first day of laying down and being bored and nothing to do, you pop up. N HOT DAMN. Everything I love. Nature/humour/honesty/kindness. These videos give me hope and promise that there are still people out there who make art out of the love of making art. These videos are inspiring in so many ways. I am happy the algo can sometimes give you gems and show you people like you. Thanks for putting in the time and effort in making these (Just binged watched alllll of them) and I can't wait for you to pop up again in your own time. Have a lovely day.
How inspiring! I do get that joy in “suffering” when I hike up in the mountains, when all my body aches , but same time knowing I’ll be rewarded with having a great view when I get to the top of the mountain. Although they are things that are linked to suffering I don’t enjoy such as dealing with toxic relationships etc. I loved this video so much, I liked the points you made, on top of that the trail you took us on . Looking forward to your next video. Your content is AWESOME , really wonderful and inspiring. Happy journey in life to everyone! 💚💚💚💚💚🫶🏻
well, i got unsubscribed to the monarch journal, so you must have reached some YT milestone. back, and so thrilled. (found your vids through Nathaniel Drew discussing them in his course).
These video's are something else, quality content and the way you convey the message is pure. Where did you learn all this wisdom of life at such a young age?
This is certainly not the case for all forms of suffering. But some of my most fondest memories are that of tougher days. Not the trip where everything went right, more so the trip where everything went wrong. Sure didnt feel like it at the time but looking back i wouldnt want it any other way.
Loving the content man. Really interesting themes plus incredible cinematography continues to be a great combo! Not to mention crazy beautiful landscapes.
10/10 so happy to have found you so early. Recently became unemployed and haven't been doing a whole lot to help myself out of my rut, this video helped me so much. Thank you man.
your videos are truly so pleasant to watch! I’m trying to think of ways I can incorporate some of your film-making techniques into my videos. Super inspiring and really lights a fire in me to start creating!
I think I just found my favourite channel. I was thinking about buying a decent camera but woah, this hobby is expensive. Still, these videos became such an inspiration for me. Thanks for all the beautiful shots and wisdom man!
Great video as always! Beautiful shots and message! It’s true we can’t control what happens but we can control our response to what happens. Learning to accept suffering and see it’s beauty has been a huge evolution for me! All the love brother 🙏❤️👏
What's your relationship like to suffering?
I kind of have to say that we are bestie
the more i try to run away from it, the more present it feels, when i go forth in spite of it, it fades, so, it is sort of like a game of catch then ?
I try to wake up at 6:00am every day even if I went to bed late the previous night. Its very cold where I'm from and I leave for a walk almost immediatly. Wow, quite the comment. Thanks for sharing this. I'm sorry you experienced this but glad you were able to grow from the experience.
There is you and the other type of people who will blame God for taking away their loved ones for the rest of their lives. Stay strong!
I absolutely love the style of your videos. You're slowly becoming my favorite channel on youtube with each upload. Keep at it and keep being you!
It's like meditation, everything slows down when I watch these.
Thanks my dude!

I second that !
I 100% agree, I love the segmenting and he keeps the videos short and directly to the point. I personally love the quotes for each segment as well. Also, great minds think alike. Keep it safe out there homie
"suffering produces perseverance"
-Apostle Paul (romans 5:3)
Great quote
"Once you learn how to suffer you'll suffer less". That quote truly embodies the message of the video. There is pain that can self-destructive and there is pain that can allow us to grow, just like Kahlil Gibran once said: your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Great video as always! Your channel is a hidden gem.
Yes I love that quote so much! Thanks Cristian

Haha yes. Great comment

the german word for passion is "Leidenschaft" which literally means "suffering creates", could be connected to the latin meaning
Thanks for sharing!
your videos are truly so pleasant to watch! I’m trying to think of ways I can incorporate some of your film-making techniques into my videos. Super inspiring and really lights a fire in me to start creating!

Still, these videos became such an inspiration for me. Thanks for all the beautiful shots and wisdom man!
Welcome aboard! You can make amazing images from fairly affordable cameras. Remember the equipment is just the tool. How you use it is everything.

Big compliment. Thank you.
Incredibly succinct way to capture such a complex and important topic!
