I liked the 5150 III better. There was not a world of difference between the two (at least on the recording) and I think you could make the EVH sound even closer to the omega with a pedal or two.
Also, I don't play über modern metal, so the evh probably caters more towards my preferences

Kyle THANK YOU for making this one in particular :) i had a stealth and actually went back to the reg 6l6 and did some preamp tube rolling and a GE7 in the loop. The EVH 6L6 once properly adjusted stands with the super expensive amps out there in my humble opinion but at 50-60% of price.

I use an EQ pedal in the loop of my EVH stealth to add more low end. Works like a charm. Granophyre sounds amazing here but I can say firsthand that the Stealth is a beast of an amp aswell. The MXR 10 band EQ in the loop just allows you to shape the sound however you want as the EQ on the EVH is somewhat limiting.

Another great video Kyle! Awesome work. Both amps are absolute beasts. Really like your format. Gotta say, fine tuning the EVH will work better with the tone bone switched to the EVH 😆. Keep the raw authenticity flowing with the in the room sound.

Awesome shootout. I was actually surprised by how close they were on the lower gain channels, but ultimately the Omega just killed it for me. It does indeed have its own thing going and is very "specialized". I think it's destined to become a modern classic and one of the most coveted amps for anyone who can afford one . It's incredible - Now I REALLY I want one ! Thanks so much for this, great job man.

Granophyre wins for the high gain🏆 although you nailed it on the evh being more of a forgiving amp and having a clean channel is kind of important.
When you thought he was about monster energy and drywall holes, but in reality he was all about the tones.

Dude I'm a subscriber and I love your channel but you have got to do something about the volume levels between when you are talking and playing.i have to stay right next to my audio system when watching your video because I have to turn up the volume when you're playing and then turn it WAAAAY down when you are talking because it will blow out my ear drums if I don't.it is extremely annoying.it wouldn't bother me if the music level was higher because I love to Rock out but it sounds like you are SCREAMING through the mic whenever you are talking .thumbs up as always bro and keep up the good work.i love your content and your channel is my new favorite.👍🤘🤘🔥🔥

Just subscribed! Have you heard the low mids on the EVH el34 50 o man. I owned a stealth 50 and had to trade it in for the el34 version.
Yeah I own the EL34 as well! Gotta say the stealth is still where it's at for me personally. I did the C137 mod on the EL34 though and it now sounds much better on the blue channel to my ears.
The High Gain channel isn't really a "channel" from what i've read. It's either a built in boost or an extra gain stage (basically the same thing?). It'd almost make more sense IMHO to compare boosted blue channel on the 5150 to the unboosted Omega with the high gain switch on.
Will update once I get my Granophyre in.
Got me really thinking in the stealth. Not crazy about the blue channel on my 6l6 50. Need to hear the cleans more on stealth.

The EVH is like you said the frequencies are more or less equaled out. The Omega has a more pronounced low end.The EVH def held its own considering the price difference.
Omega sounds stiff. I think I'd get along pretty good with it. I like amps that make you work for it. Kinda like my deliverance 120, it's not very forgiving but it will reward you when you clean up your playing

I’m Curious to how the 5150 el34 50w compares to the stealth 50w on the red channel. Is there a big difference? I know the blue channel is quite abit different.
I'll be doing some 5150 shootouts next week, I own all 3 of the 50 watt EVH models. The Red channel across the 3 amps is VERY similar. Very little variance.
I’m gonna have to buy the omega graniphyre and the stealth. I already got the EVH 5153 6l6 50 watt version. Should I buy the stealth because I already have the EVH 5153 6l6 version? Kyle Bull
Honestly I'd say no, if money is an issue. The original 6L6 is VERY close to the stealth, and the Blue channel sounds killer. Save the money and just grab an Omega and you'll be set!

REALLY tough for me to choose, and would boil down to the situation, but god damn the high gain setting on the Omega is bliss.
The omega low gain boosted just sounded so much more pissed and metal for some reason to my ears compared to the Evh blue lol

I personally think people put way too much stock in the amount of tone difference between 50 and 100 watts. Slight bit of headroom/compression and low end, mostly at higher volumes. Not a drastic difference.
would you call the omega harsh in any way with v30s! example i struggle with my jvm through v30s as the mids just destroy my ears.

Honestly, yes. It can get a little harsh with how pushed the upper mids are and can be sensitive to dial in. However, you can find the sweet spot with a little work, and it sounds killer.
Evh is more focus ,i understand the notes a bit better,try dial the resonance controll in the back to have even more massive sound
Man the Omega is a beast. Hadn’t seen any good quality videos on these amps. It’s modern and tight but fat and brutal and not as djenty as most modern high gain amps.
Have you checked out the Dover DA-50? Was blown away by it. Similar territory but more of a British voicing.
It's an absolute monster. I've been loving having it around!

Hey Bryan! I had one for a little while. It was very dark, and overall, didn't love the EVH speakers for what I do. I'd love to get another and load it with V30's and try that. Build quality was fantastic, would stand up next to a Mesa in that regard, but again, tonally very dark.

I have had an EVH, Orange, and Mesa Traditional 4x12's and the EVH was definitely my least favorite.
Cool.. You're kinda comparing a 50 watt and 100 what amp though.
I see the red channel on the 5150 as an actual lead channel.. The compression makes it swell for leads.
On the 5150, I also like the presence up half a notch. Don't forget the resonance control on the back too.
The Omega is a 50 watt amp as well.

@@belligerentamateur another thing about the presence knob on the Stealth... It works a bit differently than the presence on my block letter... As do the eq controls overall. On the block, the presence and other controls affect the particular frequency more directly, where with the Stealth, the controls seem to morph other parts of the frequency race a bit.
But yeah.. On that red channel, I see it used almost exclusively as a solo channel. The compression makes solos a bit liquid sounding. I've played more with that in the 100 watt though. Since I've gotten the 50s, I've been mostly on the blue channel.. I only really switch to the red channel when trying different pedals out to see if it sounds better.
I'm mostly a rhythm player/songwriter, so the blue is the most useful to me. I'd almost be better off with a second blue channel with or without some very minor tweaks.
The clean channel is vastly improved over the 100s, but it's still missing a little bit as far as being great for a pedal platform. Supposedly the REV amps work better for that.
What do you set resonance to on the back of the EVH?

I'll be the contrarian here, and say I liked the EVH more. Too much "quack" in the Omega, the more "even" midrange sounds much better to my ears.
Dude I can say first hand the EVH 5153 50S absolutely kills!
I just got a 50 watt stealth and it's a beast. TBH the blue channel needs a boost in front of it but the red channel....OMG there's more gain on tap than any amp I've ever played. The red channel actually sounds better all on it's own without a boost. It's the only amp I've ever played where unboosted sounds better on the lead channel. If you put an 7 or 10 band EQ in the loop you can get the EVH to sound just like that Granophyre easily.

I prefer the EVH. But if you want to go super modern the Omega is probably the way to go. A 1 to 1 comparison between them makes the EVH sound like an Orange Rockerverb compared to a 5150 if you catch my drift.

I’m going Omega here. Not super common at the moment. Seems like everyone is still on the 5150/5150II/5153 kick. Both have a good sound but the Granophyre takes the win for me.
Just got my new Granophyre, and yes, it's unique, and fully nasty! Lol
honestly I prefer the EVH, the Omega is good for super low tuning guitar, and the EVH for music at all maybe.
