@@wayned5872 We haven’t seen anyone use it yet, but we see a lot of spots in the river now. Some people say they catch a bucket full of them sometimes😊

Thanks for putting out your videos. I went to the spot but the badge lady said this is not a crabbing/fishing area. Only able to picnic. Not sure if it was correct or not but we are not going to argue lol.
@@toasterrusted3954 Hmmm…maybe they just want people not to get hurt because those rocks are slippery. Not ideal for crabbing, especially with kids. But you did the right thing. Badge lady works for the town, that must be their new regulation. Good luck on your next adventure🦀.
@@thandastones888 also did you buy a badge for that particular area as they have their own jurisdiction rather than a New Jersey badge permitting crabbing all of New Jersey. Last question, how do you find your locations? I just started crabbing because of your videos, very rewarding to catch even one lol. Thanks again.
@@toasterrusted3954 Yes, this is part of Island Heights so a badge is required. We got the season badge for $25. Good for the boardwalk and other crabbing spots. Locations are given to us by local bait shops and on line using google maps. More crabbers, more customers for them. So always ask for a good crabbing spot around their area.

Just went to island heights and caught around 50 as well 🎉. But have you ever gotten a small black leech like worm on a crab before? One of the crabs had one on it but it came off easily. Hopefully its not some sort of parasite thats harmful.
@@Bob-go3ht Nice🦀! The river is good for crabbing right now. We did see a black leech on one of our crabs but it quickly fell off. We believe it’s called crabbill leeches. They will be more common upriver where the fresh water is greater. They are harmful to fishes because they can suck their blood ( through their gills). They use the crab to lay their eggs on the shell, just like what they’ll do to a rock. In doesn’t penetrate the shell, so the crabs are still safe to eat😊.

We went to mantoloking bridge today from 6-11am. Left with 1 spot and 1 5.5 inch crab. Let go like a dozen of little ones. So sad.
@@thuynguyensanthuy6127 Crabbing, like fishing is quite unpredictable. The crabs are there, but the big ones aren’t biting. We also have days when we don’t catch a single keeper🦀. When the big male crabs start mating, they concentrate on the females and ignore the traps.
@@thandastones888 I told my husband that today is Sunday and all the adult crabs went to church. Left their babies home wandering to get kidnapped. 😂
@@thuynguyensanthuy6127 Ha! Ha! Ha! That is the best explanation we’ve heard so far! The crab parents are probably very relieved to see their baby crabs at home🦀. But seriously, your kids will remember these times with you when they grow up. These memories will be priceless, even when you catch only a single crab. Enjoy your day🥰.
@@thandastones888 but we didn’t have much of keepers. They don’t want to go anymore. Lol. Only one crab. They said they’ll save it for me to enjoy. Lol
do u think square trap will work there?
@@showmethefishing It should, but it will be hard to pull up. It will most likely scrape into the sandy bottom because you’re not standing on a pier. And heavier to throw farther, because you need to set the trap in deeper waters.

@@showmethefishing There’s a “Badge Lady” that makes her rounds in a golf cart. She’s very nice and will explain the regulations and give you a daily badge for $10. If you want for the season, it will be $25 dollars.

@@thuynguyensanthuy6127 Well, It means we wish you’ll have a good day and catch a lot of crabs🦀. That spot though is not good for kids. The rocks are slippery and there’s no pier to tie your traps.

Is it 13 and under no pay? Some people are saying 12 and under.

@@ShadowkillerG There’s no street number, but try to get to Holly avenue in Island Heights. Try to drive all the way to the end of it heading to the river. It’s the small park at the end.

@@Philaer Yes😊. Island Heights implements a daily $10 dollar fee for fishing, crabbing and use of the docks. You can also avail of the season badge for $25, which will be good till December. Happy crabbing🦀!
