Yeah i haven’t fished the Chesapeake for Flounder since i was a kid. Striper is another story. Chesapeake produces great Striper fishing! Im sure you’ll find them though if you put the time in. Tight lines and good luck!

Its power pro braid. Alot more versatile and abrasion resistant. Stronger hooksets smaller diameter. Im always using a fluorocarbon leader tho. That line isnt going straight to the bait
That's a cool little area to find some fluke. Please do yourself a favor though and make a better habit of measuring fish with the ruler underneath them. You're getting inaccurate measurements when you put the ruler over the top of the fish, and it may cost you with fish and game if they decide to measure

Yeah man that’s def what it is. I took it apart that day when i got home. I didn’t order a new one but i cleaned out all the corrosion and regreased. Its a year old and i always clean after i use it in the salt kinda annoying but hopefully that does the trick. If not new bearing is getting ordered!
Yeah it was the line roller bearing. Took it apart when i got home that day. With the reel off the rod its silent that’s how I realized it was the line roller. I greased it up cleaned out the corrosion so hopefully that does the trick.
That Vanford is literally a year old. Its a great reel. Sad to see the bearing go that quick but its a $10 fix. Thing is super light and that’s what i wanted for my fluke setup.
Not far from AC but more towards Strathmere area. Honestly if you time the tides correctly you can find flounder all over south jersey early season. Specifically inlets and back bay waters.
7’ Tsunami Trophy slow pitch and Shimano Vanford 5000. Had to replace the line roller bearing on the reel when i got home. That’s what you hear in the video. Fixed now. Perfect fluke setup tho
That reel never saw the sand until that day but def salt water corrosion to the line roller bearing from using it on the boat the entire previous year. This was also the first trip using the reel since putting it away the previous year. I clean with fresh water after every trip as well. I def maintain my gear thoroughly that’s why i was shocked on this trip but the line roller bearing is a very common fail for shimano reels that are used in the salt.
What was the tide conditions? This video was also very early in the season. They can still be caught there but ocean side fluking is the best right now

Trust me, it's not always that good. Good part about that spot is if you're not feeling that spot there's good options close.

I was using a 1oz white bucktail on bottom with a dropper loop and single octo hook a foot up. Both tipped with 4in pink shine swimming mullet.

Reel sounds like it needs to be Grease up. Salt got into the reel and slowly biting the inside gears .

Is that Atlantic city? Great egg Bay was the best in little egg township but it was in between Atlantic city and long Beach Island
