I wonder how many things I don’t know about premier pro that could make my work flow easier? Thanks man this is awesome! I am going to abuse this feature as hell😀!
Always learning something!! Didn't know you could set your own Hot Keys!! I appreciate how consistent you are with these two minute Tuesdays. I couldn't image how busy you are, and for you to be so constant with this. Much Respect!
THANK YOU PETER! You've contributed IMMENSELY to my work flow which in turn has optimized my PRODUCTIVITY which also in turn has CHANGED MY LIFE! THANK YOU SENSEI!
It never ceases to amaze me how much I learn from your videos. Some teachers shouldn’t teach and others, like yourself, should never stop teaching. #carryon
Dude, you are a great teacher, no doubt! The first tip, I've learnt with you because of your previous videos, and it got to the point that I HAD to search how you did that, it helps a SO MUCH. I'm surely going to use all of them, it's so much faster and no doubt clever as hell!
in FINAL CUT the closest thing to this is setting the markers as shown, then set the in and out points same as peter does, and drag your clips onto your marker, ensuring that Snapping (N key) is turn on. Then just delete the excess with the blade tool (B) at the next marker!
Damn dude, this content has saved me sooooo much time! I am just entering the premier space and this has been legendary! Thanks so much for all you do! Keep crushing it!
Bonus tip: You can pre-organize the clips in the thumbnails view of your project. In that way, you can choose the order that you prefers and not the sequential order of recording
For a young person learning filmmaking and expanding his craft what do you think is the most cost efficient way to edit videos? I want to use premiere and have tested it and used it before but I don't think the price for cc is in my budget right now, what would be your recommendation? P.S. What I've currently been using is filmmorawondershare but it has super bad playback and does not have an insane amount of features, but I make it work no matter what, or make something different out of it. Key point whatever you say I'll try to find the positives. Oh wait, just wait until Pete uploads a vid, then the day is perfect.
Aidan lende Hey! If you're a student you can get the student price for cc. One black friday they were selling the student version for $18 a month! If you are not attending a school, I strongly recommend using freeware only to get your first jobs. If you are serious about it being your craft, you should be willing to invest in quality programs that support quick and consistent workflows.
Any student email can get you the entire creative cloud for $20 and two computers can be logged into an account at a time (or as many as you want if only two are connected to the internet). So you're technically not supposed to, but you could theoretically split the cost with a friend and only be paying $10 a month
In my opinion, the reason why you would use premiere pro over other editing software is because it has an amazing, efficient, and effortless workflow with after effects, photoshop, audition, and other adobe products using the dynamic link feature. You can import sequences and have those sequences automatically update in the other program with no rendering involved, or hell, you can even just copy and paste clips/footage from one program to the other. You only ever have to render when you're done, and that's an incredible resource to have. If you do pick up premiere, do yourself a favor and learn the other adobe programs too.
I always thought how much time should spent for cutting videos and if I wanted more action and cut on every beat, it always actually drives me crazy. Peter, you are my inspiration. Thanks you!
Yes! Make sure you have nothing selected in your timeline, before setting your markers. I had a clip selected so it was putting the markers on the clip instead of the timeline. I think the markers need to be on the timeline for it to work. That worked for me. Hope this fixes it for you too!

Silas Cutler Thanks! It worked. It's just not a useful technique if you plan to take several sequences out of one clip. At least it doesn't go that fast. But thanks for the tips!
I mean thats only useful if the clips in your bin are already in the order you want to edit them with. This isn't really editing it's more just chopping clips and putting them in random order on the timeline. Even though that "automate to sequence" option can be handy if used correctly

Up until 2014, when I changed to Premiere 100%, I used FCP 7. I did something following the same logic as this tutorial, marking the sequence along the music beats just like the example shown above - M, M, M. For the video track, I created a blank video, or solid, or any clip that extended for the duration of the song and used the markers as 'guides' to cut it into many pieces.
