    Quick overview:
    Open Premier Pro
    Add clips and track to project
    Add track to timeline
    Make sure M key is set to add marker
    Set in & out points - I and O keys - for all B-roll clips
    Play track and hit M to add markers at beats
    Select B-roll clips
    Clip dropdown, Automate to sequence
    Select At Unnumbered markers
    Done

    For a young person learning filmmaking and expanding his craft what do you think is the most cost efficient way to edit videos? I want to use premiere and have tested it and used it before but I don't think the price for cc is in my budget right now, what would be your recommendation?
    P.S. What I've currently been using is filmmorawondershare but it has super bad playback and does not have an insane amount of features, but I make it work no matter what, or make something different out of it. Key point whatever you say I'll try to find the positives. Oh wait, just wait until Pete uploads a vid, then the day is perfect.

    • @chagew8966
      @chagew8966 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Aidan lende Hey! If you're a student you can get the student price for cc. One black friday they were selling the student version for $18 a month! If you are not attending a school, I strongly recommend using freeware only to get your first jobs. If you are serious about it being your craft, you should be willing to invest in quality programs that support quick and consistent workflows.

    • @stephenwells2464
      @stephenwells2464 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any student email can get you the entire creative cloud for $20 and two computers can be logged into an account at a time (or as many as you want if only two are connected to the internet). So you're technically not supposed to, but you could theoretically split the cost with a friend and only be paying $10 a month

    • @xLOKIx0830
      @xLOKIx0830 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my opinion, the reason why you would use premiere pro over other editing software is because it has an amazing, efficient, and effortless workflow with after effects, photoshop, audition, and other adobe products using the dynamic link feature. You can import sequences and have those sequences automatically update in the other program with no rendering involved, or hell, you can even just copy and paste clips/footage from one program to the other. You only ever have to render when you're done, and that's an incredible resource to have. If you do pick up premiere, do yourself a favor and learn the other adobe programs too.

    I mean thats only useful if the clips in your bin are already in the order you want to edit them with. This isn't really editing it's more just chopping clips and putting them in random order on the timeline.

    When I do that, the audio linked to the clip(s) overlaps the music track. I am trying to unlink the audio before automating to the sequence, but it seems that it's not possible... Only after putting it on the timeline. Is it possible to do this with clips that contain audio? Thank you!

      oh hey. i just solved it. you just move the music to Audio 2 lane. and then when the video clips got to the markers, mute Audio lane 1. wow i just did it!

      You should switch to Adobe, I did and have never looked back 👍

    • @GuyHealey
      @GuyHealey 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When did you do that? I use both, and FCPX is much quicker in both edit and render times - Adobe closer to old FCP7 - love them both, but the current version of FCPX is astonishing.

      in FINAL CUT the closest thing to this is setting the markers as shown, then set the in and out points same as peter does, and drag your clips onto your marker, ensuring that Snapping (N key) is turn on. Then just delete the excess with the blade tool (B) at the next marker!

    • @KelsVaughne
      @KelsVaughne 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Silas Cutler yeah that’s exactly what I was thinking !

    • @chrisreidbr

      Up until 2014, when I changed to Premiere 100%, I used FCP 7. I did something following the same logic as this tutorial, marking the sequence along the music beats just like the example shown above - M, M, M. For the video track, I created a blank video, or solid, or any clip that extended for the duration of the song and used the markers as 'guides' to cut it into many pieces. Then, I went on opening each of the B-Roll footages on the preview window, and at the desired frame, I pressed the F11 shortcut (Replace or Overwrite, I think). This function replaced the clip below the timeline needle with the one on display at the preview window, matching the frame you're on.

      Deo Dorjay Yolmo make sure you added markers to the timeline and not the actual song, see if that helps. If the markers are on the songs u may have to change to timeline markers like shown in the video.
