Use straight cleaning vinegar 6%. If you're still not dispensing water try switching to the single server side, let it complete the cycle, then refill the reservoir, then switch to cups and run a cycle. Doing this I would get a red light on the cups button after a min. Then I switched back to the OZ side and kept repeating this. Also try using a injection syringe without the needle and put in at the water valve in the reservoir and pull the syringe in and out while it's cycling. This will help remove deposits on check valves and help the pump. After you get it to brew a full pot, full the tank with vinegar and run an 8 cup cycle until it starts to heat the water (that bubbling sound) then unplug it. All vinegar will stay in the cycle. Let it sit for 30 min and brew pots until no more vinegar smell or taste. Then from now on do the brew vinegar and pull the plug method once a month. Congrats you have hard water. Lol
Wow this is very good!!!! This will help so many people, thanks for sharing. I might even do a video on this someday, They sell so many of these coffee makers, I bet this is going to help alot of people!!! The syringe trick is a great tip!!!
@@JustADad Thanks! I think the longer the vinegar sits in the machine the better. The mineral deposits will dissolve and pass through the pumps more easily. My lesson learned is that if it takes longer than described in the instructions then maybe it needs to be cleaned more, like is also mentioned in the instructions. I had never cleaned mine until now, and it's been around 8 months. I have low spectrum hard water per my measurements, so I'm going to clean my Keurig at least once a month if not weekly. If I clean it weekly I'll just run a diluted vinegar water mix. I'm gonna experiment on some mineral deposited parts I have lying around to determine what the ratio of dilution should be. Also, unrelated to the function of the machine, I applied a paraffin wax (white candle) to all the plastic parts that do not come in contact with the beverages. Only exterior parts. Buffed it in with a microfiber towel. Looks like a mistake at first, but keep buffing, it'll blend in. Looks brand new and repels liquids. Now all I need to do is learn how to refinish the hot plate coating. We have a scratch in the coating.
This worked for my Keurig, thanks! I was trying to descale it but cup side would not fill. I started to alternate between the pod side and the pot side using only the 8 cup & 8 oz options and a miracle happened... my pot filled to the 8 cup line! Thank you!!!
Letting it sit for 30 minutes is definitely key. My descale light came on and I of course threw the manual and everything away after I initially set everything up back when I first bought it. So, I tried descaling on my own bc I kind of knew the process. When I started the descaling process the carafe wouldn’t brew a whole pot. So I googled and this video was the only one that was actually helpful. After about 3 rounds of trying to get the machine to brew on the carafe side (which it wouldn’t) I just let it sit for 30 minutes bc the half and half vinegar and water mixture was in the machine. After the 30 minutes was up I ran a k cup 8 ounce brew and then the carafe and it brewed like a champ!!!! Thank god. I’m currently just finishing up the rinsing process. I would’ve been super bummed if this didn’t work bc I would not have been able to have coffee tomorrow morning and I would’ve had to buy a new coffee maker.
Ok, so this is my follow up comment from about 3 hours earlier. This WORKED! My machine now brews a full pot of coffee! My husband and I were jumping up and down! LOL!! I had to do this procedure about 3 times. So in other words, filled up the tank 3 times, half and half water and vinegar! I rotated brews between a single cup and the full pot. The single cup was never really an issue, but the pot would only brew like 1 to 2 cups at most and then stop. Each time I ran a pot of the vinegar mixture it brewed a little more. The 'letting it sit for 30 minutes' was key!! This is when it descaled! How brilliant! I did exactly what this video said, just 3 times over. My Keurig K Duo Essential is now like perfect. Also, just an fyi... I did go out and buy the Keurig K Duo, but not the 'essentials' to replace this one when I thought it was broken. And that one wouldn't brew what I selected. I think the calibration was off or something. If we chose 8, it would brew 5. If we chose 12, it would barely make 10. This is with brewing a Pot - again, on this one - the single cup was working fine. So, we traded it in for another just like it, thinking we just got a lemon, and it did the same dang thing! Sooo- we are returning it tomorrow, and now we don't have to worry about buying another one. Ours is like new now, thanks to this video! I'm so happy!
Good to know I have been doing this correctly. Personally, the machine I have has never worked correctly on the pot side, straight out of the box. Descale light comes on after 1 use and rarely does a full pot of coffee in one try. Pretty much an overpriced single cup machine. Thank you for the video.
We're a family of 5 adults and 2 children. We got this as gift 2years ago and the descale light never came on. We started noticing the water/coffee amounts were short by 1/2cup (or more). Thanks for the video, I'll be trying this soon!
Thank you for this video. I was completely confused as to why only one bottle of fresh water to the descaler solution. I am going to follow your video, so thank you for posting this video it's a lot more in depth to understand.
Excellent video! I especially liked seeing the heating tank and coils. Now I understand the descaling procedure, 30 minute soak time, and the benefits of regularly scheduled maintenance. This morning the Keurig worked like new and our coffee tasted great!
Thanks for the video. Good tip to let it stew in the heating coil. Still trying to figure out that dang descale light. Mine hasn't been lighting up, but hope it's still not counting away even though I just cleaned.
I use water from those machines where you fill up gallons, it works very good, I got mine from a friend ,and it was clogged,I followed your video instructions and it's good now , sometimes it doesn't give me the right amount of water but might be cause I let it go empty and then it acts weird , thanks so much for info, god bless you 👍
I have never descaled ours - had it for 2 years! It does not have a descale light. So now, when we brew a pot, it brews a little then stops. The single cup is still working. I'm so excited to try this. If it works - I will let you know! Either way, it was a very helpful video, thanks for taking the time to do it!
Followed your steps, using vinegar, no luck getting descale light off. A peculiar thing though, our machine started overflowing on the 8 ounce selection, doing more like 10 ounces, had to watch it and unplug it, then it started working correctly.
Mine just about quit making coffee all together. I was going through the de-scaling process using vinegar. I could tell I was making headway but I hadn’t got it completely back to working. I ran out of vinegar and happened to read the label on the CLR bottle on the same shelf. It seemed to work faster. But I don’t think I would have gotten anywhere without the syringe idea suggested by lrocky223. It now works just as it should.
Thanks for this video. My "Descale" light stays on constantly. I've used vinegar, it will heat up, run the vinegar through allowing about 2 ounces of vinegar/water then shuts down. Is it too late for my machine? Should I keep trying?
I just purchased a used duo Kerrigan and I am trying to clean it…I was able to clean the pod side but can’t seem to get the coffee pot side to fill up with the solution..what am I doing wrong???so frustrated

I just descaled my supreme plus and it no longer powers up and doesn’t work after completing the descaling. What have I done wrong. Looks like need a new one but worried about it happening again.
My Keurig Duo is new (just like one in viedo) I have tried multiple times to correct my problem. I have followed your steps, step by step and still no luck. Descale/Add H2O light on and 12 cup light appears to possibly be laminating from it rather than actually on. I have a couple pics, if you could help me with attaching them or how to send them. Excellent video!!!Thanks
I’m descaling my Keurig duo just like the one in the demo. I have added the vinegar and water and have run 8oz. cup. I am trying to run the 8cup carafe side but nothing is happening. I think I had this problem the last time I descaled but not until I started the cleansing brews. What do you suggest?

I have the same machine less than 2 years and I think it’s done. Unfortunately I tried doing a descale and all the lights turned off it no longer has any lights when plugged in. I was hoping it had a thermostat reset like other videos I’ve seen of other keurigs. This is ridiculous I’m going back to my old coffee machine.
We have gotten 6 new machines because even after the descaling procedure including the 30 minutes sit the descale light would stay on... Keurig tech support could not even explain to us what was happening.... did not even attempt to troubleshoot.
thanks. yeah my issue is the light is solid, so from your explanation that means it needs descaling. However, I just bought this machine, brand new, and when I hit the Oz button then the 8 (or any other size), nothing happens. I hear some clicking then nothing
Hi, can denture cleaner tabs be utilized to descale/clean the machine? Purchased Jan 2023. I only brew a full carafe about 1-2x/week (summer), but do utilize the kcup side daily (fall/winter (coffee temp/flavor preferences). I have SUPER hard water, so I’ve been using the denture cleaner tabs(2)about 1-2x/month (summer) and about 1x/week (fall/winter). I try to avoid vinegar (smell/taste), heard the tabs were an alternative. Am I overkilling it? 🤦🏻♀️
Help lol…our descaling light came on and we followed it great direction. But it won’t run through with the single or carafe fully. Barely in the single and only 4ish cups in the carafe. It worked fine yesterday?!
We never used the carafe side (I think ever?) And today we finally used it (8 cups selected) only for it to not even brew halfway before shutting off completely (didn't even kick in the hot plate) Went to try the kcup side - fearing the worst - and sure enough as soon as I clicked the kcup button it all lit up with that solid blue light for descaling Now I'm running as this video instructs and I got through the 8oz part, but now the carafe side is pumping out nothing at all (but it's clearly trying) Any ideas?
This coffee maker has a history of this kind of thing, not sure what is really going on, could be a blocked line with hard water deposit in it. or the valve that directs the water to the carafe or k cup could be stuck. They sell a bunch of these coffee makers, but I get alot of complaints about this model. not sure if its just because they sell so many or if it has a real bad problem. I am working on doing some more video's on this model. possible blow air through the lines, and possible run the hot vinegar through it a couple times and not use cold water. these are last resorts and might break the machine for good.
How do i know when to descale my model with the programmable? Do i have to remember every 3 to 4 months, does my model notify me? Thank you for your videos
@@JustADad thank you, I'm not going wait to see if it actually shows a descale message on the display, i will just clean it every 3 months. Thank you again for your videos
They used to be these little pod filters that went in the water tank to filter the water. I read last night that the Keurig duo I have now no longer requires a filter!

The last couple times I’ve run descale cycles, it won’t brew a whole pot at once. After trying several times, I decided to let it rest. Is it possible that it’s just so full of deposit that I will have to do it several times letting it rest between each until the tank empties? It only trickles a little bit before stopping
Mine does the same thing! We have a water softener, but still get scale on shower heads, etc. How do I get the maker to run a full pot, not just a cup or two?

To turn off the descale indicator light once you have completed descaling your brewer, press and hold down the 8oz & 10oz buttons together for 3 seconds.
Same thing with our machines...I'm more than a little annoyed...lol. and Keurig tech support is useless... we don't know if it's a faulty sensor or what is causing it ....I actually broke open the machine like this guy did and everything looked fine.

Thank you Blessings! 🙏✌️🫶

After Elena, just clean the needle that pierces the capsule and that's it, gentlemen. With love I hope it works for you. Do not manipulate the machine as this could damage it even more. Thank you Blessings! 🙏✌️🫶
