  • As much as I love??? RWBY, there are so many things that it could have done that it just didn't do, and more importantly things that it did that are huge mistakes in the eyes of many in the fanbase, from Ironwood's change in Volume 8, the handling of the Faunus and so much more. So I wanted to break down RWBY's BIGGEST FUMBLES!

    If RWBY’s made some big fumbles, why did you fumble the release time of this video?
    Makes sure you guys show up to my stream tonight where we play BBTAG and talk about Volume 9!

      Oh god, not another ironwood fanatic.
      we're talking about the man who used his hacked battle droids to threaten the poor?
      who got ozpin fired?
      who brought a war fleet to a school festival?
      who weaponized the huntsmen system?
      who used a school festival for weapons testing?
      That James?

      I mean.. it’s because CRWBY makes canon up as they go?. Her mom wasn’t even a thing until later when Monty admitted that they just made her up on whim because it was “cool”.
      This is the kinda thing I’m sure only became a thing cause miles probably said it at some point during a con or something lol.

    To me RWBY's biggest fumble was introducing a world ending threat to our heroes so early on. Had they been kept in the dark about Salem and her true goals we could taken things a bit slower done more character work and world building. Now it feels like anytime we end up in a new place especially after the fall of atlas team RWBY should be spending every second getting ready instead of taking their time with less important things.

    • @Sorain1
      @Sorain1 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You can introduce threats like that early, but you have to have an in universe explanation for why it isn't priority number one from than on. You have a mentor point out that the final showdown isn't tomarrow and they need to deal with the individual trees to save the forest. You have the threat be banished for a big chunk of time so that lesser things can get their day in the sun first.

      That's actually something that really annoys me in RWBY. Despite knowing and acknowledging who the big bad is the people and story do very little with her. It would be one thing if it was because the big bad essentially doesn't have the time to go after them personally or they weren't considered a huge threat or any other excuse on why they can put off on the big bad doing literally anything but then volume 8 hits and Salem does literally nothing… like seriously why is Ironwood the main antagonist of the volume arguably and not the like seven to eight antagonists already established why is Salem someone who could beat an Ozma theoretically four times more powerful than the maidens struggling against fodder like Yang, Emerald, Jaune, Ren and Hazel. She should have wiped them out with such brutal efficiency we the audience would be terrified to have her show up ever again. Why doesn't Salem ever take to the battle field personally it could have been interesting if she had like actually fought and led in the war on Atlas crushing opposition in overwhelming displays of power but nope she just sits back and does nothing like Im sorry what now? Why?!? She is literally right there do something with her. We had to basically nuke her to stall for a couple hours so show that she is that large of a threat. Also the heroes never plan against Salem only how to defend against her. No one here actually tries to come up with a plan to stop her which like should be possible via the staff of creation so I think it would be really nice if that was acknowledged at all like imagine if the characters where like we could use the staff to seal Salem and Ozma was like Ive tried that but after sufficient time under specific forms of damage like say a couple hundred years her immortality adapts to it and she becomes resistant enough that she can actually use magic to escape. Then it could be like oh then we need the relic of knowledge to know what exactly we should do to stop that. Like what if in order to beat Salem we needed to use all four relics in a brilliant plan to stop her. Like we the relic of knowledge gives the plan, the relic of creation created the sealing object the relic of destruction is used to kill Salem so hard it takes another hour to regenerate and the relic of choice does something.(I don't know what the relic of choice does so I don't know how to incorporate it into a plan.)

    Penny really didn't need to die. Like, really didn't need to die. They said Cinder mortally wounded her, but Cinder also mortally wounded Weiss, who is still walking around thanks to Jaune, who is capable of healing minor mortal wounds, I guess. But this time they had him kill his patient, apparently.

    • @kidprime6863
      @kidprime6863 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Even if there was no time to heal her, it's still dumb. If they had kept Emerald there she would've used her Semblance to buy Jaune time by screwing with Cinder's head. Then again V8's writing is all over the place. The whole thing was nerfed. Penny forcing Jaune to do it was cruel no matter how it slice it. One of the worst things about it was that it was 100% avoidable. If she had listened to her friends and went through the portal not only would she be alive, but the Relic would not get stolen. Her recklessness cost them everything. She's basically like "Hey Cinder! I got the Relic and Maiden power, come kill me and take them!". She knew full well that Cinder wanted the power and Salem wanted the Relic. Her near-death experience didn't even make her realize that her attempts to fix her problems only created more. It proves that her clouded judgment consumed her to the very end.
      Not helped by V9 teasing us with the possibility of Penny being revived and never coming to fruition. And it never revealed what became of her body nor do the characters get proper closure of her death and give her a proper burial. But to be far, V9 was under duress in being released because of COVID-19 delays among others. Thus I think Penny's resurrection was going to happen but it got lost somewhere down the road. It would've explained why her crystal swords involvement in the Volume.
      If it may sound like I'm hating Penny. I'm not. I'm mad at what she did. She had good intentions but didn't look before she leaped. I was even tempted to reach through the screen and slap her before saying "Get ahold of yourself!"

      They killed her just to bring her back so that they could kill her again, just to bring her back as a human, just to finally kill her off for good. That is piss poor writing no matter how you look at it. What's next? Bringing back Phyrra? Yang's arm? They established death and loss don't mean anything in this story.

    The absolut biggest fumbel was revealing that Blake and Yang being in a "relationship" was planned from the start with 10 years behind it. And somehow the people still watching this thing are lapping it upp. Hell this makes Korrasami look like a masterpice.

      I don't buy that either. Bumblebee is a shit pairing no matter how you look at it. There was no chemistry, no trust in the relationship. Yang had literally written off Blake at the end of vol.3, and had to have Blake's reasons for running explained to her by Weiss of all people. When the person established to distrust demihumans understands the demihuman better than her supposed partner, that is a colossal failure on the writer's part.

      And a lot of people complained that Kaneki x Touka from Tokyo Ghoul was canon because they wanted Kaneki to end up with Hide. Same could be said for Naruto x Hinata seeing how a lot of people wanted Naruto to end up with Sasuke. Some wanted Naruto to end up with Sakura and Sasuke to maybe end up with Hinata (which is nonsense seeing how Sasuke and Hinata don’t have any chemistry or interactions at all.)

    Should just reboot the whole series. Only problem with that is deciding what to keep and what to change. Personally I think characters like Ruby and Blake should be completely retconned in personality and tone, but I dont know how well that would go over with the people that enjoy them.

  • @blakebelladonna6885
    @blakebelladonna6885 ปีที่แล้ว +47

    I could write essays about the fumbles. The most frustrating to me is what they did to Blake's character. It doesn't exist anymore. She's one half of a ship that sells merch. I used to be a big bees fan, but I've started to resent it because Blake, and to an extent, Yang, have suffered as characters because of it and I don't really like the way their relationship has been written. Blake was arguably the most competent fighter on the team at the start, being the only one to actually best Roman 1v1. Now she pretty spends all her time in combat running, dodging, getting her ass kicked, or setting Yang up to do damage. She and Yang killed her abusive ex. And then they DIDN'T TALK ABOUT IT. No processing that, no emotional repercussions. They had opportunities too. Volume 9 has been leagues better than 7 and 8, but Blake's dialogue with her past self was some of the worst writing in the series. When has Blake EVER desired to live a simple life? A better self reflection would be challenging the idea of whether or not killing Adam was necessary; if he could have been rehabilitated instead, wondering why Blake has done NOTHING for faunus rights since then. THAT is what her past self should have grilled her about but instead we got shit dialogue implying she's literally half cat because the writing team doesn't have a clue what to do with her if it doesn't involve Yang. I'm also sick of Neo. Pretty clear she's still around only because fans love her. She's truly a non-character unless you go read her novel.

    I think Adam Taurus’ character turning from revolutionary fighter for Faunus rights to obsessive stalker kinda feels….. off… I kinda wish it was more like how Saw Gerrera’s character was in Star Wars The Clone Wars, someone who yeah, is an extremist but with intentions to help his people fight The Separatists and then the Empire. Adam Taurus could’ve been more like Saw (kinda), Calm, collective, calculated and a very much more formidable opponent who I wish fought Qrow, Raven and the rest of team RWBY. There’s also the Sephiroth kind of character, calm and collective and with no emotions shown. I don’t know what Monty’s vision of his character was but I wish I could’ve seen that than what we got in the official show. So yeah, fumbled, scrambled like an egg, folded like an omelet and not in a good way

    I can't thank you enough for so many of the points you have made because they're ones I've been talking about for ages on other sites.
    Reddit, twitter and tumblr especially are havens for the worst of the fandom.
    Some things I will add to your comments on V7-8 are:
    - The sheer ineptitude of the Atlesian military. It's been hyped up over 6 volumes only to fall short riddiculously easy. Trench warfare against Grimm? Are you mad or just idiotic? The smartest way to combat land a swarm of grimm is from an altitude yet the Atlesian military somehow thought getting close and personal with armored creatures is a smart idea.
    - The contradictions with the lore. In the World of Remnant series, it's mentioned how Grimm can't access Atlas easily because of the weather. Well... they didn't have much trouble attacking it apparently.
    - The cartoonish villainous image of James. I remember the writers talking about how they were disappointed the fans were pro-Ironwood after the fight with Watts, and thus their solution was to crank the villainous behavior to 11 to the point where the man is genuinely twirling his mustache and chuckling to himself like a cartoon villain. It was so OOC it was riddiculous.
    - The lack of knowledge and understanding many of the fans and CRWBY especially has about politics and what constitutes a dictatorship. It boggled my mind, considering I hail from the Middle East, how so many fans can just go 'bUt IrOnWoOd aLwAyS aCtEd LiKe a DiCtATor' when that simply is not true. Before V8 he was genuinely a leader I would stand behind 100% of the time. If he was a true dictator, the election plotline wouldn't even have happened. The Happy Huntresses would have been murked the second they spoke out against him. The protesters wouldn't have been released after a single day of being held. The whole argument of Ironwood always beeing a warhawk/dictator reeks of ignorance that comes from never living or experiencing the things being complained about.
    - Team RWBYJNR acting like Ironwood's blockade is illogical when they KNOW why it's happening. I had a disagreement with a guy over this. They claimed Mantle was obviously in a famine and getting killed. Where exactly was this shown? The most we see is people losing jobs because of JACQUE SHNEE, and people feeling unconfortable from being surveyed. That's it.
    And while it can be understood why Mantle citizens are against Ironwood's policies, the main cast and the fans do not have that excuse because we know why he's doing this. Should Ironwood have just lowered all security and rolled out the carpet for Watts and Tyrian?
    Sorry for the long rant but this was on my mind. Love your videos!

      What about Team RWBY’s idiotic plan to move all of the refugees of Atlas and Mantle in Vacou, which is a desert wasteland with little resources, harsh conditions, a dangerous number of Grimm and a kingdom with a grudge against Atlas for they did to them in the past? Plus the People of Atlas and Mantle would have a difficult time adapting to Vacou’s severe heat seeing how they hail from a cold region. It’s like putting a Polar Bear in the desert and a expect it to survive on its own.

    Not sure how you missed the narrative reason for killing Penny in Vol 3. No one, outside of Ruby and some select Atlas personnel, knew she was a robot. The whole idea was that whole hordes of grimm were not far outside the walls of Beacon, and since Grimm feed on negative emotions, the idea of a student killing a student would cause all kinds of grief. THEN YOU ADD Cinder's speech and referencing ironwood and the army.. and that was the recipe to get the normal folks to illicit the emotions that attracted the grimm. LOTS of grimm. The killing of penny was the catalyst for the invasion proper.

    I’ve definitely been liking volume 9 more than I expected, it’s nice that 9 seasons in they’ve decided to focus on developing the main character. Not just her but the whole team who has a tendency to get shafted in favor of side characters like the ace ops or Jaune who’s basically the 5th main character (I’m not kidding at multiple points in the series he’s had more lines than both Blake and Yang).
    For a series where the writers like to talk a lot about how far they’ve had things planned in advance, it really feels like they kinda just kept adding things as they thought of them whereas the series really could’ve benefited from being more streamlined. Like instead of introducing another new power system maybe they could actually do more with the silver eyes, or maybe just take some time and have characters like Ruby and Blake actually talk for a change.

      I’m the exact opposite. This is the worst Volume to date. The plot is barely moving, the characters are out of place, literally AND figuratively, and the drama is forced, capped off by the Kiss of Bimbobee.
      Ruby’s “meltdown” is unwarranted considering the countless opportunities she had to explode, but in this NON-Remnant place is where it happens?
      Jaune going full Castaway for roughly three decades only to be even more pathetic than before.
      Weiss being the logical one in an illogical world gets stale, to where even she acknowledges it.
      Blake and Yang have been OFFICIALLY removed from the plot to appease shippers.
      So congratulations Volume Five; your reign as the worst Volume of the series is now at its end; DETHRONED by Volume 9 like Alice, sorry, ALEX did the King (now Prince).

    For me personally, Vol. 9 has been hit or miss. I like the ideas that they are playing with, but since it's only 10 episodes they've been going at a breakneck pace. As a result, we haven't really had any moments to breathe or let the potential and character growth develop. I really wish we had spent more time in the herbalist scene with each character because that could have been a really great character moment, but it mostly plays off as "join the dark side" "No" for everybody but Ruby. Meanwhile, Weiss is played up as the comic relief for one minute, then switches to super serious mode the next and then right back to comedy. For me personally, that's too much tonal whiplash. And in tandem they aren't focusing on the right elements for certain episodes. Case in point the most recent episode, where we should have focused more on Jaune Ruby and Weiss, but instead spent the majority of time on BMBLB becoming a thing even though they have had next to no interactions throughout the entire series like you mentioned with the entirety of Team RWBY barely sharing screen time and character growth. I personally feel like BB is forced because they have had no true character growth moments outside of Volumes 2 and 6. 3 arguably, but the two of them never talk about what happened in a meaningful way 1-1 ever so I don't think it should count. Yang losing an arm could have been a big inciting moment to have Blake and Yang have a serious conversation and have character growth, but they never do. They just fight Adam, and that's it. All we need to start a ship and cure Yang's PTSD I suppose. I don't know, maybe these last four episodes will salvage it for me, but given the pacing I'm a bit skeptical.
    Well thanks for taking the time to read this long-winded comment. May your heart be your guiding key.

    @colt1903 ปีที่แล้ว +43

    YES! 👏 OKAY! So... Ironwood. 🤣 Ironwood is the number one textbook example of one of RWBY's biggest issues. The writers know where they wanna go(Ironwood's fall from grace), they have a rough idea of how they want to get there(Stress, Doubt, and Fear slowly making his mental state worse), but then even if the execution is alright or even good, they don't give the important thing they wanna get to enough attention to actually make whatever happens feel justified.
    This same thing happened in Volume 6. The whole "steal an airship" plan was fucking stupid, and only served to create a conflict that the writers wanted to end the volume with, but it was also a conflict that was wholly unnecessary.
    I love that they actually had the balls to give Ironwood a fall from grace, but as always, even if the payoff itself is a good one, the ability to execute it, build up to it, or both is one of RWBY's biggest weaknesses. They never give themselves enough time, or are never given enough time by whoever it is deciding those things, to be able to really make those payoffs feel justified or satisfying.
    Another example of this is Roman's death. Literally out of nowhere. Man had no solid death flags or anything. He just talked and then he died. Neo's return, as much as we all loved it to death, had no foreshadowing at all.
    Funnily enough, Ships in this show suffer the exact opposite problem. They have TOO MUCH time given to them. Case and point, Ren and Nora really should have kissed in Volume 4 or 5. BMBLB, forced as they are, probably should have kissed by Volume 7. Or in Volume 8 when everyone was standing around in the same building and DOING PRACTICALLY NOTHING!!! *Sigh*
    So... Yeah. Let it be known, if nothing else, RWBY is certainly something people can talk about.

Haven had to be saved by Team RWBY and Blake's faunus militia that happend to be there conviniently at the same time. They could have honestly cut out most of the happy huntress stuff and definitely a lot of the ace ops redemption. Have ironwood just feel betrayed by the lack of trust and try to save both mantle and Atlas w/ the relic. Have it go wrong there and have him die as a cool still good guy. Annoying they were first portrayed as villains (because THAT is a trope I hate), but I held out hope that… maybe as the show goes on we’ll see the other side of things! Also its not a negative to have faunus be bad guys, kinda like how real minorities arent all sunshine babies, and there are radicals of all kids of shades in minority groups but I think to make sure you dont present the whole group like that if you care about representationand whatnot is to SHOW the different sides and mindsets so an actual discussion and nuance can be there. When penny came back, i was surprised that it was with her orginal personality with all her memories intact. I thought if they ever were to bring her back it would be with a totally different personality (perhaps a colder one to make her more efficient at fighting) with no memories of ruby. Like how did she retain all her memories? Also wasn't her dad hinted as a villian in the tournament arc?
    To call the white fang civil protesters is very charitable. They are terrorists. Most terrorist believe that they are fighting for what is right because they only look at thing through their narrow perception. To them they are martyrs and crusaders for a rightous cause. The white fang could have worked if it showed them being manipulated by the bad guys which we kinda did see at the begining when cinder made a deal with adam , but that's the only time we see the white fang being manipulated. Instead of continuing with this idea, they instead just have adam be a jealous murder happy stalker. Honestly I don't get why adam wasn't part of salem's council of evildoers with salem whispering false promises and slowly corrupting adam.
    I know there are too many characters in rwby already, but honestly i would have introduced a new team every couple of volumes to be like a sort of rival team to team rwby, just like what they did with the ace ops. Honestly I'm surprised that the only one with a team in salem's villian court is cinder.You would think the other main bad guys would have a couple of minions to order or something.
    Ruby's problem is that she doesn't really have any sort of relationship or dynamic with other characters. She had the classic shonen rivalry with weiss, her and jaune can sort of influence each other because they are both team captians and cinder and neo both just want to kill her.Other then that I can't think of anything else. Ruby barely has a connection with both yang,blake,the rest of team jnpr and even penny. You can flesh out the character by fleshing out her relationships. It's okay for a character to be flat and have little to no development as long as they influence and interact with other character's development.

    So this is my take on RWBY
    I started watching the show when I was in middle school at the release. From the start RWBY was pretty bad plot wise. What made me stick to it was the character design and world that RT had built thus far. What makes me want to stop watching RWBY tbh is the virtue signaling and forced romance between characters. Particularly Bumblebee. The maiden powers and gods make sense but the way they abandon key world building stepping stones such as grim, dust, and semblances is ridiculous. RT never puts any amount of depth to their characters and gives a tiny bit of screen time to all of them then leaves. Overall RWBY would be made better by virtually any other studio.

    • @kidprime6863
      @kidprime6863 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with some of the stuff you said. I love RWBY and I want to enjoy the show but sometimes it can be a chore to watch. They shouldn't have dropped the episodic formula they established in V1. Dropping it that early prevented them from building up good character development, exposition, world building. It would've even gave the show time to breathe. Sure they have tie-in material to explain thing like those WoR shorts. But there's not enough tin-in material for it. If they kept the episodic formula, it wouldn't give us so much homework.
      And yeah RT only cares about RWBY'S marketability. RWBY can live without RT. But RT can't live without RWBY. They will drive to the ground like they did to RvB.
      Also while I was against the Bumblebee ship, it kinda grew on me.

Heck they admitted several times (most of it in V5) that they either finish the episode the day before it release or just release what they had and then fix it later on their site or for DVDs.
    This volume on the other hand....they had an extra year to work on this and while there still some issues here and there, the overall package is far more solid than anything they done in the last 6 volumes. If they can stick the landing they should stick to 2 year cycles per volume instead of 1 volume per year.

    That said, there's no Cordo to needlessly get in the way(that we know of), or Adam to make me depressed over how dirty he got done.
    Unless Jaune becomes Cordo 2.0 and BMBLB falls apart faster than a house of cards in an earthquake, I THINK we'll be at least somewhat safe from a repeat of Volume 6's unfortunate quality curve.
    Doesn't mean we're safe from other problems but V6 was the biggest disappointment in the show thus far, and I would rather a Volume be consistently bad/lackluster like 5 than give me false hope of a nonstop high quality train only for it to be derailed halfway through like 6 was.

      Because that's EXACTLY what they did.
      Adam gave no indication that he was in any way, shape, or form, as obsessed and demented over Blake leaving him Hell in the back story that was Blake and him getting together in a comic, SHE came onto HIM. Adam was an emotionless "My true love is The Cause" and that's how he's been since inception. He does not care for personal attachments and while Blake would have been something he might want to deal with, she was incredibly low on the todem pole.
      So turning him from a stoic Older Brother/Mentor figure to Blake into her jealous possessive ex lover was a wild tonal shift that is a constant problem with the series. Hell he didn't even die in a proper blaze of glory that he would have gone out in actually hurting anyone.
      Imagine instead of showing off his brand to Yang, who frankly would have had no reason to care and Blake who would have already seen it, to Weiss instead. Weiss has always maintained that the SDC has always been a 'humane employer of the downtrodden'. Imagine seeing someone only just slightly older than her with that brand. That would have been a kick to her face because she couldn't just play that off as 'a relic of a bygone era, we're better now'.
      But no, he dies for the sole purpose of Yang and Blake getting over their trauma so they can 'fall in love'. Far from civilization. Far from pushing his 'message'. Far from actually hurting people the way he'd been hurt. How his very introduction showed him to be.

    On the whole Roman stealing dust thing. Dust powers just about everything. The whole point for Stealing dust was
    1. The Train in volume 2 both for the bombs and the file for the train itself.
    2. Ammo for the weapons and equipment the White Fang would be using.
    3. Creating a state of panic as Dust prices rise due to the lacking of Dust in the kingdom while also limiting the amount the Huntsman and Huntresses, and even the Military had access too.
    I don’t understand how people seem to overlook this. It’s been stated numerous times in the show, it’s got an entire video explaining this in The World Of Remnant episodes, and they literally showcase this in the show with weapons, Vehicles, and even defensive systems. Even their CCT(Internet) is run on Dust.
    Also if you wanted to know about Team CFVY(Coffee) they literally have two books explaining their importance to the story. Their pretty good.

    • @camman156studios4
      @camman156studios4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ItPreach the point I made was that it was explained in the show. People just don’t pay attention. The other sources were extra. CFVY has importance, just not to the show proper as of now. Kinda like how Wedge Antilles from Star Wars has importance, but you wouldn’t know why unless you’ve read the books. Halo does the same thing as well to a larger degree with the books before Halo 5. Even Five Nights At Freddy’s and the novel trilogy. Could you tell me what Tibanna Gas was or it’s importance to Star Wars Lore? Or explain the inner workings of a Spring Lock from FNAF. Perhaps you could explain what a Logic Plague is from Halo. Each of those things are very important to their franchise and only two of them had a mention in their main source of media, but even then it was only ever mentioned through text that you had to read. Like a book. With RWBY Dust has been explained at least once a Volume, the other franchises I’ve mentioned have not. The other sources at the end of the day such as books, World Of Remnant, and Even the manga, or Ice Queendom and the RWBY x Justice League movie are just extra. But They are there so you have something to look into while the company works on the next Volume. Did we really need Roman and Neo’s backstory? No, but it was fun to read about. Did we need to know that CFVY stopped a revolution in Vacuo? No, because it’s not important to Team RWBY.

    Honestly, the human villain to faunus villain ratio was pretty close. And the first time Penny died I'm fairly certain the in-universe reason was because Cinder wanted to generate excess amounts of negative emotions to draw Grimm towards Vale. Having one of the students act dirtily would already generate some amount of negative emotion, which would then be compounded by a student getting killed by another student, and that student being revealed to be a secret Atlas robot, when the people of Vale would probably already be suspicious of Atlas given the fleet sailing above them, would generate immense amounts of negative emotion. This all leads up to Cinder's reveal, and the Atlas robots turning against Vale would also probably increase negative emotions on a worldwide scale. As for the number of teams, it helps fill out the world and make it feel like there's more to it than just the main characters, which I personally actually like.
    The whole Ruby Rose characterization thing was definitely a big fumble though. They had good ideas, they could have expanded on those ideas and it should have worked out pretty well. The whole Silver Eye Lasers was also a bit out of nowhere. If they wanted to do something with silver eyes and bloodlines and all of that they could have simply done something like "Silver Eyed warriors tend to be incredible prodigies at one particular weapon, but suck with others." referring back to how Ruby said that she was "complete garbage" before Qrow taught her how to use a scythe, at which point she managed to reach from the level of "complete garbage" to how she was when first introduced in like two years.
    Edit: Looking at it though, the number of faunus villains compared to human ones is actually pretty small.

    I think the main fumble with RWBY is that a lot of post Volume 3 plots could have all happened in Beacon and the city. Just cut out the entire idea of relics because I doubt that was actually something Monty thought of since we know the idea came up during Volume 4's production.

    I’m only focus on the Ironwood part. Human priorities is his one trait of being a good guy. Of course there’s a red flag, he’s not a politician or a fantasy hero, bros an logistic general who believes to be a hero in his worldview. Ironwood as a character built up to be a reasonable person that is up against an unreasonable immortal sorcerer with her goons and one of them is a hacker. You can’t ignore the fact he messed up and it’s still not Ironwood cause writers fault. But again it’s Ironwood vs the world, in that situation you were fucked from the start when the main protagonist said so. They want a monster, Ironwood would be if it benefits him but it still sucks cause there’s no logic or rhyme or reason. In a war, Ironwood got no brain cell to think about details because of all fronts pressuring him. That’s it, there! Omg it’s crazy! I’m crazy! This is my head canon and it probably sucks cause I’m assuming shit! Forget about Ironwood sucks, he is canonically sucks balls! I’m done-

    man i’m gonna be real i went back to re watch rwby around 5-7 months ago just because i was feeling nostalgic for some RT and i only got to season 5 and i just couldn’t keep watching this show is the most consistently 3/10 show i’ve seen. i’m not saying there aren’t any good scenes or amazing moments but if you rate a episode/season on cool moments then in my eyes your opinion is wrong because this show is so below mid 90% of the time. it actually felt sad coming to this realization because i use to cope and say this show was good but really the only good parts were some cool fight scenes then awful story and character writing, it hurt even worse because now the only good nostalgic thing i feel for RT is RvB and RvB now is trash.
    but if people enjoy the show more to them and i hope season 9 is finally getting good. however if it takes 9 seasons to get good then that’s kinda bad in my eyes.

    I know ironwood's arc is very controversial and while I get where a lot of people are coming from with it, I really like that they emphasized how much he has changed by having his get so much more exaggerated and controlling with his actions.
    The fact that he was pushed up to, and past his limit while trying to bear an immense responsibility being the de facto head of the most advanced kingdom, while simultaneously leaning too hard into this thought process and essentially becoming a dictator, really sells the realism and gravity of the situation and reinforces the constant theme of good characters in the show getting put in extremely difficult situations where they may have to make bad decisions or ones that will fall under scrutiny by others.
    Definitely not perfectly written by any means, but i still appreciate most of it for what it is.
