They're great things, I hope you've had some good use out of your 57 over the last year. Maybe do a follow up somewhere warmer if it's cold?
Overall good video and good observations about the knife. I don't have the 57, but I do have the 71, 79, Boatsman, and Alox Cadet. All are excellent tools and I've only ever encountered one problem and that was the corkscrew on the 71. The only time the corkscrew had ever been used, and I do know how to use it properly, it lost its shape and wouldn't close after that. The real issue with Victorinox is not with the quality of their tools, its with the quality of their customer service. Which is why, although we love using their tools, we will never buy another one. I've made a detailed video about their customer service, in comparison with other companies. But, I haven't posted it yet.

Victorinox really should start to offer (at least limited) customisation of their knifes for customers. Everytime i look in their eshop and want to buy their knife, there is no model, that fits perfectly to what i want. Everytime there is one tool, i do not want and one tool, that is missing. For example Ranger Grip 57 Hunter (0.9583.MC) is beautiful, but guthook is useless to me (smaller curved wavy blade would be amazing though). Put the metal file/saw there and we have a deal Victorinox ... -_-
@@stephen41467 I am talking about partial customizations. I do not believe, that there is any longer a major amount of human work involved directly in production of these knives. I may be wrong, but i think that manufacturing and assembly cost would be the same. Only change would be in handling of these orders and in the programming. I would like to see the expected price change if they add option for ordering such customization. They are going by the easiest path possible, not by the only one path possible.

They'd be better off designing different tool sets. Manufacturing and assembly costs would be ridiculous if people could customize their own tool set

I think you can swap parts afterwards, but i'm not 100% sure, i've never tried
Can you do a skinning video with that skinning blade? Maybe gutting a fish or something.

I believe I got this ferro rod from one of those camping supplies stores that sell the cheap small magnesium blocks that have a ferro rod glued to it
