- Hi Star Wars collectors, welcome to my review of the Droid Factory TC-14 which was released on the Disney Store for May the Fourth! It also celebrates the 25th Anniversary of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. I also compare this new TC-14 to other 3.75" Protocol droids that I have in my collection including The Vintage Collection C-3PO and the Legacy Collection build a droid U-3PO.

It’s amazing when you think back to that IG 11, which was such an amazingly detailed character and then they still can’t get C-3PO done correctly
i remember getting the original Phantom Menace version and was so excited with it. This new DF version isn’t as metallic as I wanted it to be though. articulation is good
@1:07 you can see the bottom of TC-14's legs on the card; no bell bottoms.
Great review Bossk! I suspect we'll have a new Protocol Droid sculpt from TVC soon with the recent R2-D2 rerelease and the Cantina on the way.
Mine arrived yesterday. I really do like this figure and it helps to fill a gap of protocol droids in my collection, so that's nice! I wholeheartedly agree that a 100% new definitive Threepio is needed. Plus as you mentioned, that new tooling opens the door for so many droids! With either complete reuse or slight new tooling. Great review as always!
I think the droid depot c-3po Disney made a while back is the perfect gold. It’s not painted, but rather goldish plastic.
The original Phantom Menace one is great. Also the 30th anniversary

The only thing about the new TC-14 I think is off is that there's no black paint on the mouth. Other than that, I think she looks great.
The current Definitive C-3P0 is the one that comes with the Ewok throne. A great figure that still holds up!
I agree with you on shiny paint over vac metal. I have the Episode I TC-14 and she looks great, but with a slightly dodgy sculpt. The other night my vac metal Purchase of the Droids C-3P0 fell and the leg snapped. I re-glued it, and when I went to put it on a stand, the pressure caused the leg to crack. It is has just gone brittle.
Yep the plastic they have to use for Vac metal is different and does seem less durable
TVC fans speculation for the Phantom Menace anniversary wave: Qui Gon, Obi, Maul, Red Dress Amidala, Anakin, Panama, Plo Koon, Saesee Tiin, Droidekas, Gungans, podracers, Naboo Security, etc.
Reality:
Hasbro has all but stated that there won't be any Phantom Menace TVC. When asked, they said something about "celebrating the entire Prequel Trilogy" which apparently meant 2 basic figures and a deluxe from AoTC.
Never let it be said that Hasbro wasn't good at passing up opportunities for tie-ins:
Disney - 25th anniversary of TPM coming up; let's re-release the movie in theaters for 2 weeks (on May 4th of course) and watch it be #2 in ticket sales for it's first weekend.
Hasbro - we've got this great Haslab project....err...whoopsie....sorry, no plans for TPM figures....but we do have this great 4 pack of no-name pilots....
two things: i agree 100% with you on the coloring of the build a droid; it's spot on and a shoulda-coulda-woulda situation for Hasbro on Huyang.
Secondly, that drink tray of hers...super questionable, lol.

I got this two days ago and was so annoyed trying to get her to hold the tray until last night when I just rotated the wrist-it’s one of those things that’s so simple you’d never think to do it lol. Would love droid factory to do aphras protocol droid, since tvc didn’t give him his torture finger things.

I agree U-3PO is the best they've done for protocols. In 2015, Disney bought the build a droid molds from Hasbro. That one is not bad at all, but the eyes are a little off also, compared to U-3PO. The old TC-14 from the 30th did not have very good eyes either. U-3PO is perfect. Wish they could just reissue that droid and an E-3PO on Star Wars and Empire cards.
Surprised they haven't done a bronze/copper colour
I got TC-14 from Disney yesterday, immediately compared him to my 3po and was pretty surprised at the size difference, I knew he was smaller than he should have been but having another to compare it to really hit home even if TC-14 is a bit taller than she should be.
Might go well in the new Haslab cantina whose backing page was just leaked. Yak Face are the best
How is it that we don't have an updated Threepio? This just shows how badly the figure needs an update.

I’m not sure I even have the TVC version of 3PO open and in any of my displays it’s so awful. I’m using a mix of older 5POA versions instead that are so much better. I should be getting this TC14 soon. Appreciate the review Bossk. It looks great.
Looks awesome! I'm going to have to find a way to get this up here in Canada. The shipping from Shop Disney was twice the price of the figure!
I suffer from the curse of being a completist, so I ordered it even though I don't need it (the first TC-14 figure was just fine).

Not sure if mentioned, but the tray and 'bottle' look very similar to the original TC-14's? EDIT: yeh you did :D
PS at the small scale vac metal looks too bright and you can't really see any detail on the figure as it just reflects so much. So I'm happy without vac-metal on any future droid releases etc.
Wow, haven’t pulled out my 3PO in a while and I can’t believe how dated it looks against this. I personally thought the 3PO looked amazing when it came out
TVC Huyang is way too tall. Plenty of shots in Ahsoka show him to be around Hera's height, so Disney Park's one is more correct
the knock knees is curious, otherwise really nice for a disney product.
I put it in my basket and they got scalped from righy infront of me, receiving a notice during a checkout. 😢 Would you be more familiar with disney store restocks on those items?

Man what were they thinking when they made that c3po. I seen that and it was a definite pass. My best c3po is the throne one who is currently sitting in my millennium falcon lecturing han about odds. Lol. No but seriously we need a definitive c3po. But I want farm boy luke before any other figure. I'll probably buy 3 or 4 of him. Pre ordered my liea and can't wait to get her in my hands.
The bottom of the legs look like the Tin man from the Wizard of Oz 💪😆

I came believe how poor the TVC C-3PO looks compared to the other 2 figures. Unbelievably poor and as you say, in dire need of a resculpt.
Nice droid but I still won't shop Disney.
