Hasbro should rename the line The Mandalorian Collection (and some other Star Wars). 🙂 And when you thought it couldn't get any worse they re-release the floppy winged X-Wing. It is as if Hasbro are completely ignoring the fan base complaints. Come on Hasbro less filler, more killer.
Excellent figure, great review, I do think they need to give the Mandalorian figures a break in 2025 in terms of new releases to save some excitement for what is likely to be a big push in 2026 with the new movie!
It's so interesting to me that every time they give us one upgraded feature, they seem to take one away. I want this figure, because the only Beskar Mando I have open is the Maldo Creis snow spider one. I sold my Razor Crest and N1 Mandos to help pay for the purchase of the ships. Very excited for the updated paint apps, the soft goods cape, and the BARBELL HIPS. But it's a bummer that the cape doesn't have the detailing of the previous release, and I think the trooper backpack is kind of gimmicky. I'd love the Beskar spear accessory as well (which I guess I had, briefly, and then sold.) Question: Do the other male Mando jetpacks fit the peg hole on this figure? Like, can you use Axe Woves's or the Death Watch Trooper's backpack on him?
That VC 177 is a great figure. It’s the only Mando that I have at the moment. He feels really sturdy, and to me,I’m really happy with my only Mando being this one. I do like the look of this new one though. Great video as always 👍
So now we have the definitive Mando BUT you can't put his own jetpack on him. TBH I've never struggled posing my mandos with the older hips so don't need this one. Maybe they called him 312A because we'd only just got a Mando and they thought it would annoy people if he took up a new number, or if people thought they'd have to buy another for a complete run? (Although completionists are also going to want 312A too)
Been waiting for this review! So excited about the new hips and will definitely be grabbing this guy, if not a few. Still bummed and confused by the Blurgg Mando lacking the rocker ankles to go with the new hips. But maybe one day will get a definitive version of that Mando, which is honestly my favorite look for him.
Great review Tim and overview of all the other Mando releases. My only issue with this is that with that new style hole in his back he can’t wear his proper style jetpack so he’s stuck being very scene specific. I know they’ll rectify this and we’ll get a future release with a newly tooled peg on his silver jetpack, but seems an oversight that there’s limited flexibility to put the most definitive, up to date Mando into scenes when he’s not wearing the stolen Mando Commando one.
Hey Bossk, a really great video! Yes we've had LOADS of Mandos (I'm talking about Din Djarin here) but I love that show, the character and also these figures! In fact it was through the show that I discovered the Vintage Collection (and also, say it in hushed tones, The Retro Collection...). My first figures from both Vintage and Retro were that first Mando figure they released. I can see a good reasoning for nearly all the gradual releases BUT the new one, I'm just not interested. And the cloak, I really don't like it. My favourite Mando (which I have on my work desk) is VC312. Probably the "definitive" Mando (Din D). However those first 3 releases were all great great releases for their time. And of those, how great is that deluxe when you look at what constitutes a "deluxe" today?! Cheers, a really great comparison video.
So maybe I'm asking too much here... but I really like the rescue set mando's ability to use the flame and whistling birds effects. My plan was to get this one and boil and pop the arms off the rescue set and put them on the newest version, but Bossk points out the jetpack pegs are different. Any experts know how easy/reasonable it would be to make a mando with barbel hips, the rescue set arms, and the original jetpack torso? Im mostly worried about the cross body strap getting in the way. Is it easy to swap torsos on these mandos? Any information would be appreciated!
It's pretty easy to swap torso, yes. The only hard plastic piece of this figure is the pelvis. So my recommendation would be to use the whole upper body of your Rescue Set figure and the lower body of the figure in the video. It's easy enough to move the body strap to the side when you're popping the torso off, just slip it over the left shoulder.
Hi , do you buy two figures every time one for the unboxing and one to keep in the box? I'm debating wether to open some of my figures because I want to build a playset but I'm torn since they look so nice with the cardback
@@BossksBounty Cool , thanks!! I plan to build the new Moff Gideon Imperial Cruiser playset so I guess I'll have to open the figures even thou is going to really hurt opening them. Love your channel , always enjoy your videos.
Great. So they add the barbell hips but now you can't attach his actual jetpack. I'm sure Hasbro will release ANOTHER version of this sculpt in the future with that added.
Great review and comparison BB. 👍🏻 This would be the definitive Mandalorian figure if only we could give him his own Mando jet pack which will no longer fit.
I think i will just super-glue a modern peg on the backside of the old classic Mando jetpack instead of risking damaging the torso of the new Mando. I have some spare jetpacks "flying" around from other Mandalorians like Deathwatch etc. Then it will be the deffinitive Mando. I saw the new Trailer for the Mando and Grogu Movie and he has his old holster, gun and Jetpack in the movie.
Great as always Tim! Hoping this is the last mando release until the movie hype train comes along. Still missing key characters like the client and so on.
Hey Bossk I realized that Hasbro can't put everything on a figure, minus the holsters for the pistols, plus the cost of paint apps for the guns and figure. Thanks for the review.
I think this Mando is based on the film and not the show; in the leaked trailer, he has the Super commando jetpack and the old pistol just like this figure.
Can his legs effectively straddle the Blurgg? There was an episode in season 1 in which he rode a Blurrg while wearing the silver armor. Would be nice to re-create.
So I like the Mandalorian figures however instead of another one why not the super commandos or Moff Gideon in that Mando armor, I mean the plastic kid line had Moff already 🫣
Hey Bossk great review! At this point Din must be some of the most released figure in the TVC lol but I wanted to ask do you think we'll get another chance for the Chooper X Sabine Deluxe? I really want them but, can't stand the current asking price I see on Ebay.
i was planning to buy this one until watching this review but now i'm going to skip it. i have no need for a mando with this jetpack and we can't swap it out for his regular jetpack. i am now REALLY curious whether the blurrg mando has a jetpack with the new peg or not. or does he have any jetpack at all?
312 does have a brown hilt painted. So basically, to get a definitive version of mando season 3, we need to buy one version of 312A for the hips, two versions of 312 for the dual painted pistols and then we can swap torsos and capes as we please. 😂🤣😅 🤦♂ This should of been a new number as you say, too many differences.
To me, this card back is too dark (or I'm getting old and my eyes aren't as good as they used to be). Also, I don't think anything tops VC 166. Perfect figure and cardback
Its such a strange thing really. Imagine if we had Luke VC1 farmboy, Vader VC2 from a new hope, then every release after was like Trek and you'd just add a letter, maybe if they started with it.. it'd make sense but just for a collecting point of view its really poor. I'd rather keep VC numbers clean, if vehicles need their own number VVC- Vehicle-vintage collection, and HVC for Haslab VC, but then also playset? and deluxe figures? it just seems abit messy. Haslabs should 100% have a different system no VC numbers should be in a Haslab that is just cruel, and it's the only time i'd accept -A as something for example. Ghost crew, If there is a Kanan -A for this cardback sure.. but i'm still annoyed about that Kanan having a swappable head and being my favorite version and i don't know how i'll get another one or two of him! Kinda werid about this mando.. liked the bits you get with the previous.. but the joint update on this was needed.. like you need to buy both to have one complete figure.
Disappointed that his peg hole has changed which means you can't plug in the old one to make the final mando.. which means we'll be getting a deluxe version with all the pieces soon imo, maybe even an upgraded jetpack with the new style plug to make it different.. ugh. It really punishes you for waiting for the best version of Mando as you are missing all the previous pieces.. but each previous version is less of a figure than this! Mines of mando version sold out pretty quick in most places i didn't manage to snag one.. i wasn't really trying but had hoped to see one when i brought something else, this one is gonna be a pass.. i'll wait for the next version which will come with the movie, and i fear it'll be deluxe and we'll get another child but hopefully all the pieces spear, knife both jetpacks long rifle etc. Gotta also say what a pain so many Din figures, he's almost caught up to main line characters just from VC and Retro releases, i think Chewie might be closest main character in terms of number of overall releases.
Meh. There are WAY too many of this character. You also forgot the one that came with The Rescue Set (and probably others that I'm also forgetting). I've got a bunch of him and I'm already being forced to get another one with the Blurrg, so I don't need this one even with the barbell hips. I'll get the next one when they include his proper jetpack, or the one after that or the one after that or....
Well, that stinks that the jetpack peg hole isn't backwards compatible so you can't make this your definitive "classic" Mando by swapping in his older jetpacks. Boo!

We need a Captain Teva x wing and where are the Mandalorian starfighters? Are we ever going to get those?
And because it still sold out, they won’t bother changing anything.
Can’t blame them for not listening when the consumer is dumb en masse.

Yep same peg hole as other Mandos 👍🏻
I was hoping the jetpack hole would be the same as I wanted a classic mando with the new hips and his traditional jetpack. Probs being picky 😂
Thats a good point that you cant do that
I had the same hope!
We’re just gonna have to swap the torso out with the previous release
@@cristianmunoz3740wonder how easy that will be with the torso being that hard plastic?
@@nickbuxton8406 I’m going to try putting it in hot water and see if it softens the plastic enough to pop off.
