    LoL Also scholarship students get first pick for residences so many end up at La Cit. C4 is the most friendly residence out of all the Hotel residences. Also in C4 there are rooms within a room so you have a room with a door inside the main room so your separate from your roommate.

    Great video! I was wondering whether you would recommend the "more houses" option to a first year. It looks nice but 15 in a house sounds wild. I kinda want a degree.

    hey i was just wondering how the coed bathrooms are in upper res. like how could you describe sharing a bathroom with that many people and if there are any problems

    • @AlenaMcKenzie
      @AlenaMcKenzie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi! personally, I became good friends with the people on my floor, so sharing the bathrroms with boys was what i imagine is most similar to sharing with your siblings:) also, i honestly rarely used the bathroom with more than one other person there since everyone showers and stuff at different times

  • @shawna1017
    @shawna1017 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Would it be better to live in an apartment rather than one of the hotel like residences? I want my own bathroom, so it seems like the hotels are the only option, however the whole reason I want to live on residence is so that I will meet people :/

    • @anacg8510
      @anacg8510 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      tbh shared bathrooms are not as bad as one first imagines if you really want the social aspect of it, living off campus will def make it harder to create meaningful bonds with people at uni

    I was watching the video to try and get a feel for what the residences at McGill are like since it's my dream school. The video was SUPER helpful! So thank you! However, I was wondering whether you have much say in which room you get in a residence? Do you just get whatever you're stuck with or can you request a certain room in the residence?

    • @AlenaMcKenzie
      @AlenaMcKenzie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Skye you just get put in the rooms! You can sometimes switch rooms if there is an opening, but most people just stay!

  • @aliciamad
    @aliciamad 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    When you know your residence and if you are in a single or double room, can you choose your room or do you get randomly put in a room? Because I've read on the mcgill website that not all the rooms are the same size and the view you get varies too. Thanks a lot for the video :)

    • @AlenaMcKenzie
      @AlenaMcKenzie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

  • @tinav1671
    @tinav1671 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For the rez's that have doubles and singles - can you choose whether you have a roommate or not? I really would love to have a room to myself but I think I want to be in one of the hotel residences.

    • @AlenaMcKenzie
      @AlenaMcKenzie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you can rank it higher on your order but theres no guarantee. Id say put the hotel single rankings really high then the doubles really low to better your chances

    I was wondering if you can raise any of the beds in McGill dorms
    Many university dorms have beds that can be raised to create storage under the bed
    Can you raise any of the beds at McGill? And if you can, how high can it go?

    Hi! Thank you so much for this video because it was very helpful. I'm still torn between upper rez and new rez, and maybe you can give me some advice? I'm a very outgoing and social person so the idea of upper rez appeals to me because of its strong community. I'm also American so I guess that's where most of us stay lol. The only thing is that I really love the idea of a double in new rez where I only share the bathroom with one person and the rooms look much nicer. I was reading some of the comments on reddit and they talked about how people in new rez are very snobby, which I don't want to be around at all. I'm really looking for a community who likes to get their work done and party hard after. I'm also a science major so idk where the buildings for that are around. I know I'll be able to find friends and get involved in whichever dorm I'm in, but are people in new rez more isolated in like social events than upper rez. Haha idkkkk I'm so conflicted. What would you suggest.

    • @thornemacy
      @thornemacy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adelyn Moore hey, I’m a current resident at McGill. I’m not in either of those residences but I have a lot of friends living in both! I can’t say that the people I know in New Rez are snobby but I’ve noticed that most of them don’t really know a lot of other people in their rez. However, for studying and partying, I feel like that would be the place because you can still study in rez without being distracted but people will definitely go out with you. The people I know in Upper Rez find that it’s hard to study in rez sometimes because there’s always something going on, it really is the party scene so it depends if you want to have some peace when you’re in rez I guess!

    • @chloebatista6822
      @chloebatista6822 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      john paul The hill is really steep. Not the lower part of it, mostly the part after the intersection at Pins and University. If you feel like you can slowly take a steep hill, it shouldn’t be too bad. But if hills cause you a lot of pain, I would definitely avoid upper res.

      Hahaha! Yeah no talk about Macdonald Campus. Mac campus has two residences: Laird Hall and Eco Residence. Laird Hall is in the form of a dormitory and Eco Residence is in the form of a shared house. Laird is cheaper than Eco - Both are located on the beautiful, St Anne de Bellevue.
