      Fantacy is a normal aspect of life. Typically though, fantacy is just an elusive lifestyle or big adventure for most that live a normal life with A, B and C of what one is supposed to have. Arthur on the other hand, like many folk in real life, were always outcasts, rejects and unwanted which results in one becoming a narcissist who possesses empathy due to lack of social development with peers but still having the "love" and "praise" from a mother. Its sad how people are broken so early in life and never really heal.

      It's weird in a way, as I think it is relatable in many ways to many people. I had just started a new job in a new town, and I wasn't doing too great. I didn't win any respect at work and the other guys were giving me a hard time about it. I felt totally incompetent, and knew no one to discuss anything with. I was out alone one night and walked into a run down cinema and this was on. It was a large auditorium, but there were maybe five people in there and I'd chosen a central seat and all the other patrons were behind me so it felt like it was just me in there. When I came out it was late at night and pouring rain, the streets were empty and I was dreading going back to work the next day. I've just stumbled upon this, and that haunting musical score has just reminded me of that time. Pretty strange.

      I’m from the North and moved to a small town in Texas. I worked night shifts and rode an electric bicycle. Riding around at night on unfamiliar empty streets in a place where nobody knew me or accepted me was deeply introspective. I would swerve the lanes wondering why I was there and why I felt so lost. Seeing a wandering homeless person at 2am, I felt closer to them than the people I worked with. It’s a very hard thing to explain. It’s cool to see someone else get how alone one can feel in a society they don’t understand.

    Arthur Fleck was NOT a narcissist. Every chance he got to reach out to humanity, he tried. He offered laughter and tried to make people happy, even if he didnt quite know how. And every opportunity people had to hurt him, they did.

    • @The_ScapeGoat
      @The_ScapeGoat 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +82

      The point was that Joker was the narcissist born out of Fleck's id. Fleck wanted to be harmless and make people laugh. Because of this, he never stood up for himself and suppressed his anger and resentment. Arthur died when he killed the third guy in the subway. He went from just waiting for yet another beatdown to end, to chasing his prey and enjoying the suffering before finishing him off. Arthur literally and figuratively ran away and all that was left was his proud id, dancing in celebration of finally being free.

I was watching someone finally feel confident for once. He finally stands up for himself and it feels so empowering and euphoric that he can't contain it and starts to dance, purely for his own amusement, in his own unique, personal way, letting go and savoring the moment as much as he can. You can see just how much more comfortable and even powerful he feels compared to earlier, just in the way he moves. A truly transformative experience for the character. Brilliant.

      @@caspeansea9179 I can’t tell you from personal experience because I never had a stutter but stuttering is 100% psychological from the research I’ve done. You form patterns in your brain that become your brains way of getting through a sentence. That then becomes the way you speak because your brain recognizes the over load of words and remembers you got over it with a stutter in the past so it becomes more pronounced and will become more and more subconscious as time goes on. You get frustrated when you can’t get a sentence out so when you do get it out your brain releases dopamine as a reward chemical for overcoming something stressful. By overthinking you clog up your mental highway if you wanna call it that. Mushrooms (even non-psychedelic) have helped a lot of people with stuttering issues. They let the words flow without overthinking and creating a gap in your brains processing which shows itself as a stutter. Give this podcast a shot. This guy is a mycologists and cured his stuttering with mushrooms he grew himself!!! If you have a stuttering issue I really hope this helps :)) 35:55 is the time stamp for speech therapy much love.

I can relate in the sense of anger and having to hold stuff in I was a foster kid who had to wear a “mask” most of my life as well, and I had therapy a lot where I saw the budget cuts a lot. I hope that this movie shows we need to listen to people, and stop shutting people down. Because it helps. I also hope people see the problem with the mental health care system too, we need to fix it for real.

    I have heart swells & deep gratitude just listening to how the director, writers, actors & composer collaborated and brought this masterpiece together. Look at the places & the levels of potential that listening, feeling & sensing your way through your subconscious can take you…rather than thinking and planning. It’s no coincidence that the composer gave her cello piece to Todd the day before Joaquin suggested Arthur needed to do a dance in the bathroom scene. When you create intuitively, all the pieces come together synchronistically. The film is a masterpiece and so was the making of it.

    Todd Phillip’s Joker is founded on the idea that the real villain is society as a whole. Gotham’s corruption birthed Joker. One striking thing I took from this movie was how in the opening scene where Joker is promoting a sale on the streets, he is like a lone colorful flower, fragile and naive in the monochromatic distressed concrete jungles of New York. The city would crush this flower into it’s own reckoning.
