    Great list. I forgot how many excellent sci fi films came out this decade. And Arrival is a film that literally stunned me when I saw it. As I was about three quarters through, I was thinking how really, really good it was, but worried that it wouldn't fall apart in the final half hour. Not only did it not fall apart, it transcended itself to something deeper and more emotional than I expected. I cried. One of the greatest sci fi films of all time...

    Even as an astrophysicist, there is far more to love about Interstellar than there is to dislike. Kip Thorne provided a lot of great scientific accuracy to the movie, and the spectacle and story are well worth it. There are a couple things that could have been less clunky, but I still love the movie.

  • @sidecars
    @sidecars 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great list. I've been surprised by the love it or hate it feelings for Arrival. I love it for all the reasons you share, plus, there is a meaningful question for me within. I raised a son with major medical issues and we adopted him knowing that. In the movie I see the question, "If you could do it all again, knowing what you know now, would you do it again?" My son had 11 cranial reduction and other surgeries by the time he was about 12 or so, and that is just the beginning of the challenges for him, and for us. Would I do this all again? Such a hard question, but I love my son and we have all grown so much through these experiences. I'd do anything as a father to make it so he wouldn't have to go through those operations again, and yet... it's not so clear in other ways. It's an important question, and each person's answer speaks volumes. The answer from the Amy Adams character is clear. I love it and respect it.

    • @ImpressionBlend
      @ImpressionBlend  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First of all, thank you for sharing that. It's such a hard question, because most people go through a lot of difficulties in their lives, some more than others. But in the end, I think most of us would still choose the path we are on, regardless of where it leads. And in a way, it's a comforting thought.

      bring to me somebody who can even understand it, forget enjoying it. if the audience cannot understand the movie then how can you rate it a masterpiece ? At the end you have judge a movie by its viewing experience and the impression it leaves on the mind of the viewer which I doubt Interstellar would.

      @@brajeshsingh2391 obviously a lot of people enjoy it and understand it so I don't get your point. I just watched it again and I agree that it's a masterpiece

    • @mazeyey5518
      @mazeyey5518 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Brajesh Singh So I assume your talking about the ending so let me break it down for ya. So the whole reason why cooper and tars went into the black hole in the first place was to get the quantum data to solve the anomaly which can only be found in a singularity. Now lets talk about the tesseract scene. Now the theory is that the way Cooper entered the Black Hole which was symbolic Allowed the Bulk Beings (They) of this dimension who built the tesseract to manipulate him as humans are beings of 3 dimensions and They were beings of 5. It is also believed they were the ones who put the wormhole near Saturn to start with. Now when cooper entered the black hole the Bulk Beings were able to shape his reality and that is what guided him into his daughters bedroom in the first place. Now To they, Time is represented as a physical dimension, something they could interact with and something their not bound by. So They saw where humanity was leading up but the problem was they had no way to interact with humans since They were beings of 5 dimensions. They needed a vessel who lives INSIDE of this timeline (meaning a human) and can find the quantum data and save humanity and that was who Cooper was and that was who Murph was. Like Cooper said in this scene, The one thing that can cross time and dimensions is yes gravity of course, but it's also love. So now we know that it was Coopers connection between him and Murph that allowed “They” to give her the coordinates through the dust. It also allowed They to place a wormhole to save humanity. Everything that happened, happened because of Cooper and Murph's connection. Murphy's Law, anything that can happen will happen. Not only that But It also had to happen. The reason for this is that if Cooper didnt leave to find the NASA Base and Went to outer space and through the black hole then he would not have been able to give the quantum data to Murphy meaning humanity would then go extinct. So Cooper then gave Murph the quantum data through the watch he gave her and Murph cracked the code of gravity which is something Professor Brand Couldn't do. Now here comes a good twist. So the tesseract closes because it has served it's purpose and completed what it was made to do which was give Murph the Data to save humanity. Now the twist is that These Bulk Beings of a higher dimension arent "Beings" They are actually evolved humans who were able to conquer a 5th Dimension. Now because of this they had to place the wormhole and they had to give Murph and Cooper the Coordinates because if they didnt, they wouldn't exist themselves because They are also humans who just live in a 5th dimension. If humanity went extinct on earth, There would be no Bulk Beings, Their would be no wormhole, their would be no dust anomaly, and their would be no tesseract. So then Boom, we cut to the wormhole scene and we figure out it was Cooper who gave Brand a handshake and then we see Murph Crack the Gravity equation Saving Both The Humans of the Lower 3 dimensions and the Bulk Beings of 5 Dimensions. And then we continue on with the rest of the movie with Humanity Saved and so on.

    I (mostly) agree on Interstellar. Although I don’t love it like you do, I do really like it and I think people are crazy to act as if the ending ruins it. Not my favourite ending but I like it a lot I guess goes to show how important an ending is to a film. And yes, THAT scene makes me cry too.
