    Artist. You're the only youtuber I know that fully leans into the sci-fi theme... even "just" for a review or contemplation on gear. Love your style man. You know lenses, light, filtration, grading, SOUND (people don't use this enough). Cheers! Love watching this kind of content. Make Art Now and Andreas Hem are also creative like this. I love youtubers who stick to quality over quantity, for the sake of making a good impactful video that meets your vision. Not giving into the algorithm daily video stuff.

      @@GxAce Yeah, but I love the theme. As you're probably aware Josh from Make Art Now also builds this universe with his AI computer narration. But have you seen Andrew Huang the musician? He's made a video that hes moving to space and now shoots his vids in a spaceship set, but it's so cool, like you actually start to wonder.
      by the way @2:40 I also love the 55mm 1.8, and guess what, Sony did just release 3 very compact lenses for FF at the sacrifice of some image quality. (probably has to do with the A7C)

    This video was one of several which inspired me to pick up a used A7S Mark I with a 1800 shutter count. Since owning it, I've been stunned by how much better in low light and how much sharper it is than my Canon 5Dii and EOS M (which are my only two other cameras) I even used the A7S on a paid job filming a musician's album launch concert, and I can say the A7S blew the 5D out of the water!

    That piece at the end about obsolescence is so true. I dusted off my 11 year old GF1 took a few shots, and next thing I know I'm using it regularly as my daily carry. I've had it out on my counter and friends/non photographers naturally reach for it and have fun snapping shots. The 12mp files look as good as ever. As a Sony user I'm blown away to see you talk about the A7S. I felt like I was fooled back when I first saw your Fuji X-T3 video and assumed you used another Fuji camera while using your Fuji as the subject. I did hear you talk about the A7 and the Canon 5D cameras in the past but never expected you to still use the A7S to this day.
    I love my A7SIII. It still is capable for good enough photos for online use. That said I still gravitate towards my A7III to make sure I have an "everlasting" set of footage.
    Once again GX, blowing away my expectations as a photographer and proving that the tools don't make the shooter. It's the person behind the camera.

    Fantastic video. I love your style as always and the "sponsorship" was really fun. You made me want to take a closer look at the a7s as part of my kit alongside my a6500 and x100f. A couple weeks ago as I was taking Christmas portraits of my daughter with a vintage Ricoh 55mm f1.4, I was thinking about how a bigger sensor would help me to better deal with background distractions. And since I wanted a candlelight look, the a7s would have fit the bill well. That said, my daughter isn't quite 2 and it is tough to keep her still for a well-focused manual shot, so autofocus was also on my mind...maybe I decide what I want to do by 2045.

    I also had a new A7s a few years back. Sold it, and got one again this year. Paired to the Voigtlander 40mm 1.2 it is amazing. I like it a lot more than the A7iii in real world use.
    I'll probably add a CV21mm 1.4 and call it a day as far as photography goes.

    • @GxAce
      @GxAce  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I want that 21 1.4! Basically a similar field of view/depth of field as the Hasselblad X-Pan

      If pair with apsc lenses does the cropping to half the mp of the a7s severe the quality of the still photos?

    • @sternschnupper
      @sternschnupper 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      haha, same!! i use two A7iii for wedding work etc., but in private i allways reach for the A7s with small vintage lenses. much more convenient due to size and weight, and simply a greater shooting experience.

    Hey man, i absolutly love the style of your photography and the aesthetics of this channel. That Blade Runner-esque opening shot over the city was really something. I can honestly say, im just as excited to see a new video posted here than i am for the next episode on my favourite shows.
    One thing i want to say on the video topic: Having a small, lightweight, video-capable mirrorless full-frame camera was always fascinating to me. So when sony released the A7C, i was super excited for it, but honestly i feel the main problem with this kind of setup is not the size of the camera body, its the size of those large full frame lenses that negate the advantage of having a small and compact camera.
    Anyways, superb content. Ill be sure to give those lightroom presets a look.

    • @GxAce
      @GxAce  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow that is so awesome of you to say! It really means a lot. YES! I hate that lenses are getting so much bigger now :( Give me a super small lens with OK performance over a huge perfect lens any day.

    So true! I also got the A7S back in 2015 and I totally love it. I also use the A7lll and the A7iiiR and I find the low light AF better on the A7S, at least the way i use it, in single af mode. The colors also holds it own and reminds me a little bit about the Canon 1D2n. The size of the first A7 series are perfect and I wish Sony would come out with those again sometime in the future. Thanks for the video!

    Owned this camera until last summer because I switched to the Fuji xt-3, partly because of your review. I have used it for both video and photography. Loved it because of its low light and size but I prefer the 10-bit and better skin tones on the fujifilm. I do miss the smaller file sizes and the low light. I can definitely recommend this camera.
