Do you find that with wild harvested plants (as opposed to extracts) protein-based fibres take up colour better than plant-based? I just did a nettle bath with organic cotton and did not see much colour change. We have lots of different varieties of willow on our property so would be interested in doing an overdye with willow!
I definitely find that but what are you using for mordant? I’d go with aluminum potassium acetate instead of aluminum potassium sulfate, also adding tannin into the mix. You can also get different colours whether it’s plant based or animal- hollyhock flowers will dye green on animal and pink on plants. Would love to see your experiments with Willow if you go for it! :)
