When I was a young kid growing into my double digit age, listening to foreign music was a serious crime I could cause my parents to be accused of. Knowing that well (?) I would still often tune into "foreign enemy's stations" on AM channels on our two-knobbed, cloth covered radio, stick my little head as close as possible to the radio , listen to those "foreign" "corrupting" music, and turn the radio off at any sound of parents' arriving near me. This waltz was one of the many pieces I fell head to toe in love with at that tender age! Music, a universal language I was born with, but denied the right to enjoy by a demon like political system! Now I have been an American for three decades, I still often feel the heavenly gratefulness whenever I have the music on. Both my children are very successful and both had extensive classical music education by a famous Russian pianist and her violinist husband!
This is most popular waltz of all the times. Composed by Johann Strauss II in 1866 and performed on 15th February 1867.Words were added by Joseph Weyl. Orchestral version was adopted for Paris World Fair in 1867. This waltz by Johann Strauss II has made Blue Danube river popular land mark. You would recognize this immortal piece of music in movie 2001 Space Odyssey. People who hear and see moving water of river feel they are listening to Blue Danube Waltz with the sounds and movements of waves. Here it is presented with world's best paintings by best artists. So this is a tribute to best composer of all the times and best artists.

You meant classical music. Right? If you did mean "classics", the classics also refer to Sinatra, Led Zeppelin, Righteous Brothers, and pretty much everything from the 80s and prior. If you did mean classical music, then yeah, everyone loves one classical piece or the other, or maybe a lot of them, but not everyone loves every classical piece of music. Also, what would be your definition of classical music? Indian classical music is something I grew up and love. I bet you wouldn't like it.

The paintings in the video are what Johann Strauss wanted you to have in mind when you listened to this. Of course, after 2001: A Space Odyssey premiered in 1968 no one in the Westernized world can hear it without seeing the Orion spaceplane on final approach to Space Station V, or the Aries Moon shuttle on final approach to Moonbase. This song has for me a kind of a strange feeling ever since the day it was played at my grandmother's funeral. And believe it or not, it made people cry. It seems like an odd choice for a a funeral "An der schönen blauen Donau" at a funeral (to be honest, it was a choice that also surprised the undertaker), but in my grandmother's case not so strange, as she loved to dance. Or "gedaansen" as she called it in the local Dutch dialect. This was a piece she has often danced on, and when the song played at the end of the funeral service (or rather cremation service) a lot of people saw her dancing one last time in their minds. Fortunately I can still like the piece as a classic work. The song always makes me wonder how it would be sitting an der schönen blauen Donau.
Ah the Strauss Waltzes! So timeless! The Age of Innocence! I grew up on this music my Grandfather was Austrian-Hungarian. There was no Croatia back in that era. He was from an aristocratic family. I was taught at a very young age to appreciate the classics!
Okay, I agree, but you sound like that doesn't happen anymore, when in fact that's not true. Music is subjective. Overtime, it changes how it appeals to its emotional value. I just wish it didn't go through them so quickly. You can hardly view them.

My Mama’s favorite waltz. I miss her so much. She loves to dance with my Papa every time this music is on.

Yes 1000000000000000000000000%
That’s why they are classics, they never go unnoticed in any generation
You meant classical music. Right? If you did mean "classics", the classics also refer to Sinatra, Led Zeppelin, Righteous Brothers, and pretty much everything from the 80s and prior.
If you did mean classical music, then yeah, everyone loves one classical piece or the other, or maybe a lot of them, but not everyone loves every classical piece of music. Also, what would be your definition of classical music? Indian classical music is something I grew up and love. I bet you wouldn't like it.

Try the Kaiser Walz of Strauss.
How on earth did Kubrick manage to see how this piece of music fits with space travel? And how is it that I can't hear this without thinking of space stations and moon shuttles? Pure genius from Kubrick, and a sublime piece of 19th century music by Strauss . Thanks for the upload

I listened to it in its entirety for the first time, last night. And was bawling my eyes out at how beautiful it is. I want it played at my funeral

Okay, I agree, but you sound like that doesn't happen anymore, when in fact that's not true. Music is subjective. Overtime, it changes how it appeals to its emotional value.
