Gather a few people with the same interest, hire an instructor as a group, practice, hold a party and dance to entertain guest and then have open dance for people that wish to join in. Waltzing is wonderful. it can be a little irregular by modern American standards but go for it. or if you need an excuse I highly recommend planning your waltz for a Quinceanera/sweet16 , Wedding or graduation party finally if that is too much work, befriend a Mexicans family with a daughter we love to do traditional show waltz for the coming of age ceremonies then we do the modern crazy dances or whatevers hip. **deep sigh** fluckkkkin Covid!! This waltz has nothing to do with the 19th century glamorous aristocratic society depicted in this video. Shostakovich originally wrote this waltz for a movie depicting working class Soviet people having fun on the street. Shostakovich wrote this waltz in a simple, popular style to invoke the kind of atmosphere you see in the movie. And he did a brilliant job. Compare it to Khachaturian’s famous waltz from his “Masquerade”, another waltz composed by another Soviet composer more or less around the same time but to depict a completely different scene. The Masquerade waltz was written for a play about 19th century Russian aristocracy. Both waltzes are absolutely gorgeous but are composed to depict two completely different eras and completely different (almost opposite) societies. In fact, Khachaturian’s waltz would have been far more appropriate to go with the visuals of this TH-cam video.
I wonder what the composer would have been inspired to give the whole world such a beautiful melody??? . Personally, I relax and feel happy with this melody.

Una noche de bodas, presencié cuándo era niño, ahora la mayoría qué asistió a ese evento ha muerto. Me acuerdo de esas moribundas almas bailando y conviviendo al ritmo del tiempo.
No entiendo cómo es que a la gente no le gusta música así, es como escuchar el cielo en la tierra. He hecho actividades como artista callejera con guitarra clásica y se siente tan pesada la indiferencia de la gente.
Y los cercanos de el lugar me han dicho que mejor cambie mi repertorio a música popular.
Publiqué en mi face diciendo; He notado que la sociedad se queja de los corridos tumbados (o como les llamen), de la música banda y de el reggaetón... pero ponles a un verdadero músico y pasan de largo.
Se la pasan diciendo que la música de antes era la mejor, y aún habemos músicos en este tiempo, pero la buena música no está muriendo; sino que la sociedad la está matando.
Se quejan de lo mismo que han creado.

Mi hija bailó su vals de XV con un vestido de esa época. Estaba feliz y le encanta como a mí la música clásica.. ella me sorprende cada día. Creo igual es un alma vieja metido en ese cuerpo de niña.
Cuando en aquella epoca el invitar a una dama a bailar era los que se esperaba con ansias un baile de forma educada, pero como ahora los bailes ya no se respetan todo tocandose hasta llegar al punto de que en vez de salir a ver la luna o a platicar se van directamente a la cama, me alegra ver que mucha gente AMA estas hermosas melodias y sueñan con bailar un vals como se hacia antiguamente.
Ainda existe gente romântica, porém está mal vista pela sociedade. Os homens antes eram mais cautelosos, porque era a única possibilidade de seren aceites pelas mulheres. Total, depois do matrimónio, a situação mudava muito. Hoje as menos romanticas são as mulheres. ¿Será que tem urgência em reproduzir-se para fazer face a alguma catástrofe que vai eliminar uma parte grande da humanidade?

This waltz has nothing to do with the 19th century glamorous aristocratic society depicted in this video. Shostakovich originally wrote this waltz for a movie depicting working class Soviet people having fun on the street. And the music, as fun and as beautiful as it is, is exactly that: a pop tune for the average working class person.

Shostakovich wrote this waltz in a simple, popular style to invoke the kind of atmosphere you see in the movie. And he did a brilliant job. Compare it to Khachaturian’s famous waltz from his “Masquerade”, another waltz composed by another Soviet composer more or less around the same time but to depict a completely different scene. The Masquerade waltz was written for a play about 19th century Russian aristocracy. Both waltzes are absolutely gorgeous but are composed to depict two completely different eras and completely different (almost opposite) societies. In fact, Khachaturian’s waltz would have been far more appropriate to go with the visuals of this TH-cam video.
