Yes, huh. It seems to start out very slow, much like Saint Saens did in his arrangement of "Tortoise" in his Carnival of the Animals using Offenbach's CanCan in a very slow paced arrangement. And, the arrangement (by whom?) in this first part even get a bits haunting before it picks up. Wonder what the arranger was thinking.

Take me away to a distant land far from here.Where I can know peace and can hide from the disparate noises of the city.I want to sequester myself into the hinterlands of an alpine landscape.There is so much of the world to see, but we have only a finite existence and we are tied town by social expectations we must fulfill.I have realized how fleeting existence is, and would know like to start living according to a more authentic lifestyle dictated by my own wishes and desires.I'd like to break out of the monotonous lifestyle like many people, but instead all we do is just dream and carry on.We don't realize what happiness actually is, rather happiness is often created by the consumerist culture creating false needs.I do find it ironic that this music is so profound yet only has such a small number of views - it is at the pinnacle of artistic expression and creative genius, these waltzes are more than walzes , they are are an elegant succession of the most mellifluous sounds coalesced into a finite melody that is angelic in composition and sound.
Oh, how my heart grieves for this generation of young people....they have been so disensetized, that they have lost ability to discern what's beautiful and what's ugly. I've come to notice that Shostakovich's Second Waltz is on almost every waltz compilation I watch and I'm not surprised as it is one of my favorite pieces of music of all time.

Elegance, class, chivalry, kindness and depth of the soul are the things of the past. People like us became black sheep in the world of correctness of the wrong kind. Things that used to be unacceptable in the past are now a way of life. The world is on a roller coaster which soon will collapse as nobody bothers to maintain it.
I disagree. You are looking back to a time which you think was elegant and chivalrous but it wasn't. In Victorian days there was child prostitution, the death penalty or transportation for stealing a loaf of bread, and incredible poverty (read Dickens).

I so love waltzes, makes your heart soar you feel as though you are dancing on air and in pure heaven you never want to come back down to earth again, you can also imagine yourself in a ballroom with a man of your dreams dancing the night away. waltzes are so romantic, I believe that one of the most wonderful words from a gentleman to a lady is " My I have this dance" and from a lady to a gentleman would be I would be delighted young man." or whoever wishes to dance with a lady, with a waltz how can a lady resist. marvellous.
