      Oooooohhhh, yeah they do, but on a spectrum. Had a family of Huskies, the "dad" would not go on any car trip without his Meowmix cat toy - sheer yowling panic until it was found. The "mom" was very chill, the 8 puppies were a balance between them.

    For anyone thinking of getting a beautiful husky, please, properly look into it and inform yourself thoroughly. Too many huskies are being given to the shelters, because their owners didn't realize how much energy it takes to raise these dogs. They require an enormous amount of exercises and that may not fit into the owners' lifestyles.

    • @zoolkhan
      @zoolkhan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +233

      spot on. I live in finland. Here the huskies are in their natural environment - and can pull a sled and be comfortable outside.
      Theyre no herding dogs, theyre no "farm dogs" - in fact they have a strong hunting drive - and it is hard to get under control.
      They wil be friendly to humans, but that does not mean they will be easy to manage. It just means it is hard to make them bite you.
      Huskies are no handbag-dogs fulfilling some fashion dreams.
      And they certainly dont belong to california or hawaii.
      Huskies are energy packs and not ment to be kept in an appartment all day.

      I agree, but would like to add that you should always research any breed that you are thinking of bringing into your home. And carefully consider whether you & your family are truly ready for the responsibilities that come with pet ownership.

    • @h.s.6269
      @h.s.6269 2 ปีที่แล้ว +61

      Wish this could get pinned! So many people don't look into the requirements of lifestyle for many dog breeds. They want whatever dog they pick to mold into their lifestyle without even ensuring the breed's and specific dog's energy and training needs. Huskies are hilarious and adorable but require constant training and exercise to meet their instinctual need to work. They need mental and physical stimulation to feel fulfilled and content. Definitely not an apartment dog or a lazy bachelor dog.

      I rescued a 17 year old kitty. Her forever mom had her 10 years, then passed away. The daughter lived with the mom, but had to move out of the house. The house was being sold to split the inheritance with her brother.
      She asked the brother to watch the cat for a few days while she physically moved to her new place. After a few weeks, the brother asked about her taking the cat back, and she said she would not be taking the cat back.
      The brother had a grandson that was allergic to cats, so the little old lady kitten had to be kept in his basement. But she is ultra snuggly, so that was awful for her.
      He reached out to the members of his church, noone could take her. He reached out to multiple no kill shelters, but they were all at max capacity. Then the shelter I used to volunteer for, sent out a cutesy email about grandma kitty, Gnarly, needing a home desperately.
      It was heart melting love at 1st sight. Of course I took her and she is now living a life of love, cuddles, and tons of cozy spots to nap.
      Not sure if I am allowed to post accolades to the rescue, but they are solid: Protectors of Animals in East Hartford, CT.

    What you can't forget about huskies: they need so much exercise and stimulation. If they get it, it fixes their temper quite a bit usually. But really giving them a workout takes large amounts of time. There are sleds on wheels you can use for them to pull you around on. That satisfies them "faster", but tiring them out on a daily basis is quite the task

    • @NaeniaNightingale

      Which this family is lacking with, the lack of exercise gives attitude problems which this family calls “tantrums”… it’s really sad to see. That dog would have a much better life on a actual farm or somewhere they put him to work so he can get the workout needed daily.

      The reason I got myself a pure husky is so I can run with it (my aunt’s Pomeranian huskies sound like their lungs are about to explode when I tried it with them). But right now in the puppy phase I can’t yet, so I’m really looking forward to when he turns a year so I can run with him. For now training for mental stimulation and exercise (short runs in the length of our fence) is enough to tire him out. Never get a husky for the aesthetics, it’s not gonna be aesthetic if they chew on everything in sight.

      Its a work dog. And you didnt offer it enough exercise. Because youre another dumb ass buying a work dog for a casual pet owner. The reason it was acting "crazy" is because you didnt provide it with enough exercise. These dogs were bred to run long distances day after day. No shit its going to go crazy if it has to sit inside for 22 hours every day.
      3 hours of running DAILY is NOT enough for a husky or a malamute. Think about that for a second. Can you exercise your dog for 3 hours daily, minimum? If not, do not even think about a husky or a malamute or a belgian shepherd etc

      @@jamesdoakes4956 I had this problem with my parents Husky. After they went on vaccation, I bought a shock collar. Not one of the inhumane ones, but just one that buzzes and plays a very annoying sound around their ears. After the 3rd day, the family dog was almost perfectly obedient to a fault. He stopped barking at everything, stopped shitting in the house (yes he was trained to go outside but when he didn't get his way he pooped inside to protest) and stopped screaming when he didn't get his way.
      Parents have no idea to this day how I did it. I stand by the idea of discipling your dogs. Dogs aren't humans. They aren't children. They need to be told NO, what their boundaries are and punished when they repeatedly go over those boundaries. Any dog can be trained, it is usually 100% on the owners being push overs or bad people or just lazy for why they have shitty behaved dogs,

    I have a Siberian husky and she is exactly the same, she's so funny and i love her to bits. had her since she was 8 weeks old, she is now 9. she has to have a pillow and be wrapped up in a blanket, but most of the time when she's tired, she just goes into the bedroom gets under the duvet and head on the pillows. she has a fit of the zoomies, and dashes around like a lunatic. She's very vocal and we have lots of conversations. I cannot imagine my life without her, she's my best friend. Loved watching your video. x

    I have had two Siberian Huskies and can attest to the fact that they "talk" a lot. My first was a female and I had her for 12 years. I was her human and when I first met my wife, the husky would talk back and give her serious attitude. I would "translate" and say things like "you're not my real mom", and "you're not the boss of me". My second was a boy and looked so much like the one in this video. We adopted him from a shelter and they had named him Sky. We new we had to pick a new name because I didn't want to look crazy calling out "Sky" if he got out of the yard. We came home a few days after adopting him and he had destroyed seat cushions. I said it looked like the Tazmanian devil cartoon character had done it, and so Taz became his name.He taught my baby boy to share and was so good with him. I miss them both because they were the most fun dogs I had ever had.

      *@J.P* 🐺💜😺💜 My Husky is great with our housecats, too. His name's Vanilla 'cause he's solid tan (no Husky pattern, just all tan with matching tan eyes, instead of ice blue or dark mahogany) from being part Yellow Lab. Plus he has the straight tail of a Lab instead of the classic Husky "question mark."
      I've never met a Husky that didn't love cats & get along really well with them. They want to be everyone's playmate, or else their friend. A heart of gold; It's just that simple. One of our kittens has adopted Vanilla for her dad- - sleeps with him everytime he lies down!
      There are other dogs with these same qualities, & sharp minds, too. I'm just partial to sled breeds, that's all. Any member of the collies: collie, miniature collie/ "sheltie;" border collie, australian cattle dog, australian shepherd; finally: doberman; german shepherd; giant schnauzer

    Thank you for the rescue! The behavior is typical for huskies! Major tantrums (constant). I had one for years. Whenever I combed her out, a lady asked for the fur. (?) She told me she was going to spin it into yarn! Then knit it into scarves, sweaters and toys! Find your local crafts people and ask. She was also great in the winter, we’d put her harness on, get on a sled and she knew instinctively to pull. She’d prefer to sleep outside (in the winter) I’d find her in the backyard with a snow drift over her back- she LOVED it. Hope you have many years with yours! • @blenderpain8249
      @blenderpain8249 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Subtle Nature I thought the Alpha thing was debunked. It could be because first impression counts and the dog just remembers that the husband as the savior and his first parent. One of my cat is the same way. Initially, when my husband and I brought our cat home, she warmed up to me before my husband because I was the first one she saw. But it changed pretty quickly because she was our first cat and I didn't have a habit of watching where I placed my feet. So within a week of having her at home, I almost stepped on her paw and spooked her because I didn't have a habit of checking what's behind my heel when I turn around. From then one, my husband had became her favourite human. I know this because she likes to follow my husband brings him her favourite stuffed lama toy, always visits my husbands side of the bed over mine, and my husband is the only one that she'll allow to pick her up.
      My other cat loves both my husband and I because he met both of us at the same time, that and he's food motivated and I'm always the food provider.

    • @blenderpain8249
      @blenderpain8249 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Subtle Nature that sounds horrible. I read that alpha dog training is based on breaking a dog so the dog will be more obedient. But the concept of "alpha" is outdated, just like Freud's psychoanalysis is outdated and a misconception. Unfortunately, doing so just teaches the dog to be afraid. I'm not saying that there's no social hiercharchy for pack animals such as dogs but it usually comes down to temperament. A shyer dog will display more submissive behaviours to avoid conflicts. And a bolder dog will display more aggressive behaviour if threatened. Training an animal should be based on positive reinforcement and trust. And most importantly, time and consistency. However, time is usually not something a lot of people want to waste. So the fastest way is to make the dog afraid.
      Kind of like how physical discipline for a child usually results in correction of a certain behaviour faster but only when the parent is around. The child just knows how to be secretive about what he/she do next time.

    • @blenderpain8249
      @blenderpain8249 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Subtle Nature Pack mentality is just how people can be influenced/pressured to adopt a certain behaviour due to peers and not due to any rational reason (I took this straight from an online dictionary). No, there is no "alpha" or "beta". The original concept of "alpha" was popularized by Dr. L. David Mech and coined by Schenkel in his paper about wolves in captivity. This term have been retracted because this is not how wolves packs (and also dog packs) work. The pack works like a family unit with 2 parents and children. Unless you think parents are the "alpha" in the family. People equate training dogs to training soldiers in the military in which there are distinct ranks. When training dogs in this way, they are punished even when they do nothing wrong to reinforce the "alpha" concept. Dogs don't understand what an "alpha" is because they don't have the capacity to understand that term. In the end, the dogs just learn fear. They only know that if they do anything outside of what is allowed, it will cause pain.

    I have 2 huskies and both act just like this. They are a fun breed to have, the personalities are so much fun and love the howls.

    We lost our 13 year old husky February 2022. It’s been 3 months today actually. Husky’s are very intelligent but can be stubborn. She knew sign language so I could tell her to come and eat. Tala figured that out too quickly. Huskies need a lot of exercise or they get bored and will tear up things, have the zoomies, temper tantrum’s, etc. Thank you for sharing!

      @@barbaracreel2777 They need to be kept outdoors more than indoors, need to have lots of space to run in and they were breed to be used as work dogs so you need to keep them stimulated or they will start tearing down everything out of boredom. Huskies are not lap dogs, if that’s what you are after then don’t ever get a huskie and do proper research or become one of many abusers which we all hates.

    There is a husky in my dog training class and despite being extremely well trained, he does things at exactly the speed he wants to do them. Very independent dogs who seem to end up with the wrong owners who like them because they are so gorgeous.

    My brother has a Siberian husky German Shepard mix. Man oh man he sheds so much! super talkative, surprisingly even though he is half husky he does not howl. My brothers dog is seriously the best. If I were to get a dog it would be some kind of husky. I think this bread is hands down the best.

      Do your research first, huskies are breed to work and not kept as lap dogs. Also don’t get one if you live somewhere with a warm climat most of the year. They are the happiest in colder climates and they need to be outside more than indoors and LOTS of exercise. If you can’t let it run freely daily, then get ready to take several mile long runs with it. Yup, runs, not walks.

    If you've never had that kind of bond with any dog, you haven't given them your full attention. They ALL have great personalities and qualities and they ALL are so loyal and loving. Huskies and Mutes are just more dramatic. That's one of their personality traits.

    Thank you for adopting this sweet dog after your dad died. No doubt he would have grieved a lot longer if he would have been sent to a shelter and/or a new family. Animals grieve and become attached to us and want to be part of our families, and they bring so much to our lives. What a great story.

      I’m convinced dogs can smell the DNA. Jackson knew from the beginning that this man was a relative of his former owner and that gave him comfort and stability.
