I don't blame him. I rather spend time with a wolf than 99.9% of the general public 🐺
Me as well🤣
True true, I also have this weird human desire to kiss dangerous things on the snoot. Have not experienced that with humans yet.

Only an animal can lift up emotionally any human. Pure love, no crap.

Thank you for educating people about wolves and giving wolves and wolf dogs sanctuary .

@@III............ yes, true, wolves are lovely, and I cherish them so much, anyway, how are you doing today ?
I love wolves too. One day, on the way to work, a huge, beautiful wolf crossed the highway in front of me. Just seeing him lifted my spirit all day. Then, a couple days later, I saw his body on the same highway. He had been hit. I sobbed all the way home. Got a shovel, and a friend. We came back and buried him. I felt so awful for quite awhile. Such a loss of a majestic animal.
omg that is such a tragic story. I can imagine how wonderful it was seeing the beautiful wolf for the first time and how you were impacted. To then return and see the wolf dead, knowing he had suffered and was senselessly gone- it must have ripped your heart out. It would have mine.
That’s so sad. I have loved wolves for fifty years. My grandparents lived in Alaska and I spent quite a few summers there and one winter. I never saw any wolves but I did see a lot of other wildlife. There were not any wolf packs to be known close to where we were-Kenai. Where did you see that wolf? I know that a number of wolves are now living in a number of areas in the lower 48. ❤
That's so sad. :(
I say it again: Fuck cars and fuck the car infrastructure that kills majestic animals like wolves.
Perhaps the wolf was teaching drivers to slow down. There have been birds that suddendly appeared in front of my car, almost hit my fender or windowshield, and flew off - it must mean to pay more attention while driving.
@@PapawHasThis1 If you can believe it, it was in southeast MO. I saw him right after a pretty severe snow storm. (Well, severe for MO, I’m from MI)
It always amazes me how love and friendship can transcend species.
We are a large family dude. We are made of the same materials and our brains at least in basic things like love , trust etc worlk in the same way.
Your words are so profound yet absolutely the truth. I’m so thankful there are so many wonderful people like this couple, they are the best of us.
Wolves are the most majestic, beautiful, intelligent, loyal animals on the planet. And the most misunderstood 💕Thankyou for all you do 💕
It must be magic to be loved and trusted by a wolf. I envy you.
German Shepherds are pretty much the same... but it is A LOT of work. They need to be exercised a lot and the males can be quite a handful (uncontrollable for some), unless you are a physically strong person with a lot of patience and ability to train. My 4 year old crazy shepherd is a love, so much like these wolves that the common ancestry and common personality qualities are obvious. My neighbor's crazy Shepherd is sweet and loving in the same way (and also crazy in a seriously unmanageable way).
😲 How incredible that Riggs' coat "phased" from black to grey as he ages! And what a sweetie too, more friendly like dog in temperament but still 100% genetic wolf!
@@Antleriiiiiii : 🐾 That's fine with me because we caused them to be, wiping them out to almost near extinction.
I learn something new every day.
그래서 니 엄마가 개라고?
@@user-so7lp8ge7j : No, Riggs is 100% wolf. No dog.
I have a shepherd-wolf hybrid and you summed his personality up perfectly when you said "He doesn't want to be the boss of anyone but he doesn't want anyone to be the boss of him." He's the kindest most gentle dog I've ever had. Just not terribly obedient... still when he does his own thing it's usually nothing bad. He's got a conscience of his own.
It’s funny how sometimes the smarter dogs have a disobedient streak. My American akita would sometimes ignore what I told him, like if I told him to lie down when there are new visitors in the house he would continue to stand alert and ready to protect me. I’m pretty sure he just thought he knew what was best for me at the time haha, who am I to keep a personal protection dog from protecting his person?
Weird, my Shiba Inu has this same attitude. Shibas must just be mini wolves confirmed?
Just like in The Incredibles: “it got smart enough to wonder why it had to take orders.”
Our late rescue dog from Romania was like that. He'd been a feral dog for all his life until he was rounded up and sent to a kill shelter, where he was rescued by a wonderful woman who brought him over to the UK and a few months later he became our dog. We then found out he was at least 11 years old. For the few years that we had him he was a gentle soul, but very independent. He would not do something if he didn't want to. We said goodbye to him in April 🥲 Edited to add that he was a border collie cross.
You know, I identified strongly with that statement myself. I don't like bossing people around, but I DEFINITELY don't like being bossed around.
Ever since I was a kid, I have always loved wolves. They are majestic, beautiful animals and I'm 37 years old now and they are still my favorite animal.
same and same(honestly)
*Gratitude is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see*
Rescued animals know they are saved and pledge a life debt of trust and love to their rescuers, especially canines like dogs and wolves.

Altruism is unequivocally understood and practiced by more species than merely humans.
This reckoning and acknowledgment was something I'd long hoped for to occur among humans during my lifetime, and I see the beginnings of it, finally. 💚

You are so correct! Sometimes I just have to turn off the news and watch Dr. Jeff on Animal Planet. Good people like him actually used to be quite common in the US. I grew up in America, but came here recently. I miss America.
I too take my daily dose of "vitamin gratitude", seeing the good that human's do - is the counter weight I need to see. We all can do something in our own way - whether it's supporting, donating or volunteering and when your helping vulnerable animal's the reward's are multiplied! These folk's are among those who lead by example.
Agreed, Zoe R.
These magnificent creatures, poisoned, shot, reviled by us share our planet.
They do not wantonly kill their own kind out of whim or for gain. That is our particular "talent"
It is uplifting to see man and animal interact in this loving manner, a good reason for shutting off the TV, at least for a while, and putting all the baleful news on hold.

My neighbors raised a wolf since she was days old. She lived next door to me for 3 years. She was sweet, non aggressive, kind and so smart. I really fell in love with her. WRONG--- Scripture states clearly that the Earth is controlled by the god of this world until the Second Coming.
You have not read this reality of what occurred with Original Sin.
god might own earth but he gave humans free will, and most of them decided for satan / satanic behavior instead of god, which is why that negative WEF-scenario sounds probable... there´s still time to turn the tides, tho... god always forgives if people find out they are doing wrong and regret it!@@TheMan-my1nw

Thank you for touching on this very important topic. Wolves and wolfdogs "stay with you because they care about you and trust you" this is golden wisdom for many. You will not "train" a wolf or wolfdog but you can teach them through love and trust.
They are extremely social animals, but they don't have the built in relationship most dogs have with humans. Dogs adapt to the humans around them, can read our emotional and language cues,, Wolves can slot in, but remain wolves in everything and don't have that knack at reading us dogs tend to have and none of the restraint of dogs, so they get pushy with food and don't sit still and generally don't behave like the dogs most people are used to. They are still wild animals, but clever and social enough to accept us around them.
I love this video. I'm 70 years old and I have felt very strong all my life that the wolf is my FAMILY. People I know look at me weird. The wolves are always close to my heart. Hope our government will protect my wolf Family. Wolves make me feel safe.❤🤗❤

I can vouch for everything said here. They’re very loving with strong family ties.
Absolutely wonderful additions to anyone lucky enough to form a bond.
I grew up with a wolf hybrid. Neighbors had a wolf/malamute cross who jumped the fence, and got my parents Irish Setter pregnant. He was the only one born with blue eyes, and an almost completely black coat. We named him Grizzly, and he became my best friend. We went for very long walks, and never, ever showed aggression to other people or animals, the exception being intact male dogs. He was neutered, so I never really understood his behavior towards them. We had him for 12 beautiful years, and I'll never forget my sweet boy.
Neutered/spayed dogs tend to be more on edge and feel more threatened around intact dogs of the same sex. Spayed females especially.
@@4strokes Makes sense. I'm experiencing this very thing with our cats. 5 of the 6 (2 being mostly outdoor) are neutered, and they've exiled the still intact male. So strange.
@@Moona1966 That is interesting.
Are they all males and when did the intact male enter the picture?
@@4strokes Actually, 2 males came into our lives about 6 months ago. Just showed up on our back porch. They're both about a year old now, and were both intact. First one was neutered almost right away due to spraying, and the last one (my sweetest boy, strangely enough) is due to be neutered this month. So honestly, I'm not sure it's because he's still intact, or because he's a very, VERY laid back cat, and won't fight/stand up for himself against the others. BTW, we're rural, so someone dumped these sweet creatures, which infuriates me, and why we have 6 now. 😂
@@4strokes Oh! And yes, they're all males, the oldest being 7 years old.
What a wonderful story. It gives a fascinating view and understanding of these beautiful, misunderstood, intelligent creatures. I learned something new today at the age of 75! Thank you.
Thank you for protecting these beautiful animals! I was 8 and half months pregnant and my ex left me out in the woods figuring I wouldn't make it back. I would not have had it not been for what I thought was a Huskey dog. I kept saying go home, go home boy and when he started walking I followed. He allowed me to catch up and walked beside me all the way out of the woods to a logging road.
He sat down looking up the road and finally I could hear a large truck coming. He stayed with me until the truck pulled to a stop about ten feet away. I went to bend down and praise him for his help, he was gone. While driving he told me he couldn't believe what he saw, I was alive and unharmed with a wolf sitting beside me on the road!
That's an amazing story!! Ty for sharing!
Some might say that was a forest spirit or guardian angel.
@@SharpBalisong So true, my mom said it was because I was with child and probably a female that understood this condition. Also wolves played a part of her Native American heritage.

My dog is a female husky wolfdog, and a rescue. The rescue thought she was husky and pyrenees, they spayed her at 45 lbs when they thought she was just a husky because that's normal size for a female adult. She's 85 lbs now. Then we did a DNA test and I showed the vet and she said "oops. They spayed her a bit too early. Get ready to be a proxy puppy sometimes, when her mothering instincts kick in they're going to kick in HARD." So yep, I get a bath every night. Fine with me. She's gentle with smaller dogs, loves kids, can understand me most of the time, and I can understand her wolf talk. She doesn't bark, just talks and sings. It's taken a lot of work, but things that used to make her nervous like brushing her teeth and coat are part of her normal every day now. Lots of similarities with Riggs, like the kissing but not licking, and I taught her not to chomp.
It feels so good to have an ancient breed dog, I can really feel it in my bone marrow and deep in my ancestry. It's easy to understand why hunter gatherers paired up with wolves once you're bonded with one.
