    for me this router works extremely well. But I also have two computers that have AX cards as well as 4 phones with AX. For transferring files over the air the router is unbeatable. Doing a speed check for your internet does not really measure the speed of your router rather the speed of your link and the speed of the connection to the testing destination which can change at any time.

    MoCa adapter actually puts your Ethernet back over the coax on a different frequency. It’s only used when you don’t have an Ethernet wired house. It takes your main coax that your internet comes in on(tv can also come in on it) but it only comes in on one cable, not the one that goes to all the rooms. MoCa brings internet through coax to all the rooms. You install one coax where the internet/tv comes in, then another one in all the rooms where you want internet

  • @shaunkong62
    @shaunkong62 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Seth, thanks for being so frank. Came across this video because I was searching through all the videos about adopting a wifi-6 configuration in your home. Asus has produced many routers that can actually be placed in a pair or mesh configuration (at least a 2 parts routers is usually provided) so that your wifi has better coverage. This last statement sort of made some sense to me especially when demonstrating models (e.g.AX6100, AX6800), the former AX6100 = 2 spiders configuration. There is also the cone shape AX6800. Again you can see that more than one unit or cone or box is used or shown necessary for a mesh configuration. The problem with the router you reviewed was that it was only one unit, after opening the box. I am sure it can always setup a wire mesh configuration if you buy a second router or maybe a third! Basically these networking companies Asus, Linksys, came up with this idea to sell you more than one single router each time. If they manage to persuade you to buy a newer router why not impose on you to buy just one when 2 extra is more the new norm. You need at least 3 routers just to cover your 2 storey mansion and garage or outhouse. Thus personally I cannot understand how a "mesh" configuration or Wifi6 is even possible with just one box only router. You must also go up or adopt new technology quicker because, wifi 7 may impose more requirements for receiving 5G signals etc...🥕. So think ahead, in order to create a mesh with your latest router at your 3 storey mansion, you will soon need to buy a second compatible Asus router. Some other brands like Linksys or Google, or Nighthawk, also produce or sell a mesh router, usually there are more than one units in your first purchase, 3 units is the norm. So if wifi6 (or Mesh configuration) is supposed to be greater bandwidth, greater selection or allocation of receiver recognition etc.., I think theoretically, it must be more than one router supplying that throughput. Just buying a router for $400 dollars is alot of money but you have not implemented the full wifi6 according to these networking companies.
    In this next generation of wifi or wifi6, there are many companies trying to make their offers but not many people know much about this next generation or are able to show actual experiences of implementing more than one router or box. Since your next task as an Asus video making expert, will be to make further videos illustrating how to make a true Asus wifi 6 mesh configuration, step-by-step. Asus will deeply appreciate that you did not stop at just one router because you need to show the true Benefits of implementing 3 or more routers.. I think most users will start off rejecting the need to implement more than one router until they realize that the second or third unit of their router can replace the cheaper and smaller Amplifier Routers they first purchased and just "plugged in" when they found areas of signal weakness with their previous generation (wifi 5)router implementation.. I am glad to hear that your throughput speeds were already enhanced with just a single box of the latest wifi6 or single source router. I think after watching many videos, this next generation of wifi or routers just allows you to link up various wifi routers (you already own)so that a more comprehensive coverage is created in your domain, by the reach of all the number of routers you have already..without necessarily having to go out and buy a newer more expensive $400 dollar router to replace your existing mesh routers.

    When you are running a speedtest - on higher speed internet connections - it is ideal to specify the testing server instead of letting it automatically choose the speedtest server. For example with my internet (MetroNet) Fiber, if the speedtest connects to other systems, I'll get a drop of 300Mb/s as it's transmitting over the open internet. If I specify the metronet test server, I get 930Mb/s up and down. So in your case, try to specify a FiOS speedtest endpoint and see if that gets you your full advertised speed. Good luck!

    I have this as my main router and an RT-AC5300 as an aimesh node. Both amazing routers. The AX-11000 cut my ping by over 20% average playing CoD. And that's with multiple smart TVs running, multiple kids on their tablets watching TH-cam while playing Fortnight on their separate Xboxes at the same time. Has a kick ass app that you can get on from anywhere. When the kids are home being asses for the wife and I'm at work, 30 seconds later from an hour away I can kill all their xboxes internet connections from my phone. I also get amazing wifi speeds on all 3 floors to before I even get all the way in my driveway. And Jeffrey Epstein didn't kill himself.

    The speed is significant if you do very large file transfers between multiple devices. The AX requires you to have all devices have 10 Gbps adapters to reap max benefits from it. Otherwise just go for the old Rapture model. The network performance is very good but this device does not increase your Internet speed (that's controlled by your Internet Provider). What it does is allow multiple devices to connect to the Internet or to the network without suffering network performance bottlenecks or degradation (for example, four 4K smart TV running and four PC gaming or surfing at the same time).

  • @DemoEvolvedGaming

    I got the ROG Rapture GT-AC5300
    which looks really similar to this router, except the ROG Rapture GT-AC5300
    has 8 ports on the back where this one seems to only have 4. My ROG router replaced with a basic $60 2.4g router. I have the line coming into the basement of a 3 story house, and with the old router, or even with the Bell wifi router that includes wifi, the wifi connection was spotty just one floor up, I was forced to use Powerline extenders which are not as reliable and force you to switch networks based on the floor you are on. With this router I get 2.4 and 5ghz wifi connections. 2.4 is used for longer range, while 5ghz has higher bandwidth. The 2.4 connection is full bars to the top floor. That is full connection through 3 floors of obstruction which is frankly amazing. The 5 Ghz wifi makes it to the main floor only which is about what you would expect since 5ghz is really only meant to work with direct line of sight to the router. Pretty much I am able to just leave it on the 2.4 connection and have perfect performance throughout my home which is a big quality of life improvement. The router also has a sophisticated mobile app with a lot of tools and features, including the ability to remote reboot, which is very convenient. If you are having range problems with your existing wifi and you do not want to use a Mesh-type router like Google Mesh Router, then I can confirm that the ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 should solve your problems. Hope that helps.

    Going from the Verizon BHR to your own is very simple. Usually the worst part is having to reboot the ONT to get the new router working and that's not always necessary. The other problems as far as speed goes is that most consumer devices cant hit the 1 gig speed provided by FiOS. Especially through wifi. With that said, your speeds are still a little slow and you might benefit from doing a site survey and playing with the channels on the router to optimize your wifi speeds. FYI when I test wired speeds on my system that is using a 10Gb network adapter, I get over 900Mbps up and down on FiOS here in NY. Wifi speeds are slower usually around 600-700Mbps.

    A router doesn’t increase Wi-Fi speed... Your Internet service determines your speed and what you pay for. And even then those speeds are obtained more reliably on a ethernet connection. A better router just eliminates potential latency. Increases range and etc with Wi-Fi there are a lot of factors that effect speeds..

      BEING Reaper_PUBG MOBILE it doesn’t. If you pay for 100Mbps you will get 100Mbps max: Whether or not you will get those speeds consistently or not will depend on your router/connection. I am guessing he has some sort of Gigabit Internet (1000Mbps which is really fast) His router/wifi will be a big bottleneck. To get that 1000Mbps reliably is a CAT 6 Ethernet. Wifi will not get you those speeds. Too much interference and a lot of other factors such as the bandwidth of your connection.

      As does cabling. He should use Cat6e (for all wired connections) or get CAT 8 ethernet cables for some future proofing (consistency across the board is key here) to reduce noise & increase speeds further as long as he's paying for higher speeds it will increase consistency and get you closer to what's advertised.. Amongst all the other firmware features on the router itself.

    You can feel that routers power when there's multiple devices connected, and by multiple i mean like 20+ devices working at the same time.
    Because I have a 500Mbps subscription but with my ISP modem only whenever my friends come over my house to chill and surf my internet lags it seems my ISP modem couldn't handle multiple devices.
    When I bought this router it was like magic. No lag anymore no "ms" spike with my MOBAS, FPS games even with 20+ devices surfing at the same time, my guess is that this router can process the data traffic efficiently because of its 1.8Ghz processor and 1GB memory of RAM

  • @calahca69

    There are more variables than just getting the most expensive router to get the best speed. Does your laptop support ax for example? Did you check to see if there were any channel conflicts or noise from other routers in the area? There are multiple things that can affect and that you have to know and tune before you get the most out of your connection; I’ve had used asus routers for years and other brands don’t match the features and reliability.

    Okay so for those that think he's getting the double speed because of the router here's a bit of FIY.
    The 600mbps speed is actually not true! the thing is that the first router is sending one signal back and forth to the computer because it's only using one antenna, and the Asus one is actually only 300 but is sending 300mbps over multiple antennas so the speed is the same but it sends the connection over more points.
    Think of it like this you have cargo that fills 2 cars but the cars can only go in one speed over the road so you have to wait for both of the cars to reach the end of the road and back, but if you have 2 roads the cars can go simultaneously in the same speed as before but they now reach the end and back at the same time and are saving some time.
    However the router is sending info that you get more speed when it actually is not true
    The true connection speed is in the connection to the main grid and where you connect the router, even if this router shows more speed the speed is just a show and sure it will be faster between the router and computer but not between the router and servicegrid, if you have a certain speed just get a router that fits the speed you have and skip the fancy part if you don't really need it, it's just for show and the router will just collect the packages and hold them until the line between the router and grid is free so stilla waiting.
    I am studying computer and network enginering so this is not just talk.

    • @nightfury8848
      @nightfury8848 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That it's so cool man i want to study these things so bad. I currently have the Asus AC3200. It is occasionally dropping connections. (About 25 devices in my house connected) I'm looking at upgrading to this router. I'm hoping for no more dropped connections and also improved performance on quest 2 virtual desktop streaming and also streaming games from my PC to my phone via Steamlink and Moonlight. Would this be a good upgrade or is it overkill for my needs? BTW, my internet speeds are about the same as in this video

    I have FiOS gig triple play too. I bought a TiVo so I don’t have to worry about a moca adapter

    So...I suppose my comment, rather, question would be: Do you also have a WiGig/Wifi-6 wireless adapter on your laptop as well?
