I saw Miss Garbo in New York, during one of her walks many years ago. I didn't know it was her until someone sitting next to me in the park mentioned it saying there goes Ms Garbo again. We could not see her face completely as it was covered by a hat. She really walked really fast. At least I can say saw a celebrity in NY. 😁

@@alecvillavilla9978I adore Garbo but I’m not sure she was “the most beautiful woman”. She was actually quite androgynous looking, almost masculine. Very chiselled jawline and cheekbones like a beautiful boy. Her mouth was very wide and big and her teeth had to be fixed, and so on…. I feel that it’s more that she had very large saucer like expressive eyes, amazing charisma and screen presence. Her face was wide and open which helped for acting on screen in close ups. She was transcendent not so much in terms of her looks, but in terms of a kind of soul expression. People think because someone is a big star it means they’re naturally beautiful. That’s not the case. There were many more stars who I think who were more physically beautiful - like Liz Taylor, or Grace Kelly. But Garbo just had more presence and persona than the rest.

She stayed mysterious until the very end. My Brother lived on Lexington avenue and East 53nd street. she lived close to there at 450 East 52nd street. When he would open up the pizza shop which is no longer, that he lived over early in the morning about 6:00 AM she would come in quietly sit and have a glass of orange juice. He wouldn't even speak outside of saying good morning and smile at her. He knew how she wanted it and she would always go there in the morning. It was just her and my Brother Stephen while he prepared for the day💜

My grandmother's favorite film of Garbo's was Camille. She told me when I was 12 that I should watch for it and I did. I saw it on late night tv back in the 1980s. I used to love talking to my grandmother about the 'good old days.' I often wish I would have lived back then.

Greta Garbo's beauty was as Luise Rainer stated, "like that of Nefertiti". Every major Actress at the time, greatly admired Greta Garbo. Even Orson Welles felt Garbo was unique.

Informative and avoids any slickness which would be fatal for a Garbo doco. Initially a mesmerizing vamp to John Gilbert in the stunning silent Flesh and the Devil, his career derailed when he reacted violently to L.B.Mayer's advice that Garbo was a woman to sleep with, not marry. Gilbert died of a heart attack aged 36.

The difference between Greta Grabo and other actresses is not related to talent or other 'visible' aspects ... It was more an innate magnetism, you can not easily describe. You feel it when you watch one of her movies and when you look at pictures of her. One of her friends, Françoise Rosay, once said : 'of course, she was very beautiful, but she had 'something more' that I couldn't explain to you'.

Very good job sir, yet 4:04 - 4:31 and 21.11 is not Garbo. Also interesting to remark, at 7:11 the man with extremely handsome face is another Swede, Nils Ashter. He was so good-looking that some referred to him as the male Garbo. Re-watching this part of your documentary, I reckon you've associated this scene to the very fact in Garbo's life you're narrating (Garbo receiving the news of Stiller's death), as you do also in the end, when you mention her death and show the final moments of Anna K, is that correct?
