What brought so much passion to Garbo's "love scenes" was the way she so masterfully ANTICIPATED the kiss. The anticipation was always right there on her face. She didn't portray that she simply wanted the kiss, but rather that she NEEDED it. And always, what she did with her eyes, looking down at her lover's mouth. Especially notable in her scenes with John Gilbert. Thank you for the great tribute! Well done!
Received the Greta Garbo collection for Christmas and it was so wonderful to watch so many of her incredible films. She has changed everything regarding film for me personally. Garbo is perfect in every way. She is unmistakably beautiful beyond words. She is remarkable.
Я видел много фильмов золотого Голливуда и много супер актрис, но ни одна не перевернула душу, как Гарбо. Притом, что ее я узнал позже всех и было с чем сравнивать.
Wonderful tribute to the late great gorgeous Garbo! Love her and no one else moved across the silver screen like she did with a very expressive face and mesmerizing eyes! Hope she'll never be forgotten, one of the greatest actresses of all time!
Pure magic. From tragedy to comedy, from silents to talkies, that Mount Rushmore face conveyed a million expressions, and then some. No wonder I've drawn Garbo's portrait seven times! I appreciated the montage of laughter and good spirits - a refreshing contrast to the moody and sullen image often associated with her. Love the use of music from Juliet Of The Spirits.
This video is obviously made by someone very talented in the artistic field. David Niven who knew Garbo well and others, among them Ava Gardner and Lauren Bacall who Booth met her irl, considered Garbo sensationally beautiful even in the late 40s....Gardner said that she thought Garbo was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen; and not only her face but her shoulders, bust and everything. Bacall said that she gasped right out and stared into "the most incredible face ever seen by man....unmatched beauty." Doesn't matter in what movie or whom she plays (or even how well she plays it, good or bad), she will always be the focus of attention. I cite the character actor Lewis Stone who played against her in several of her films: “She stood alone-there was no one like her.
Garbo is often depicted as a stone-face who "Wants to be alone". Her mysterious aura is emphasized. Yet she had the most expressive face in the history of the cinema. I often describe actors as if they were pianists. Some of them have very few keys they can play. Garbo can play all of them.
At the beginning, I was quite hesitating. Garbo and Nino Rota? Different decades, totally different intentions of meanings in both skills, probably unable to match... But by watching and listening, still carefully and hesitant, I was torn more and more into a very clever, beautiful and astonishing sacrifice, presented to the Artists of Film and Music. Thank you very much for this beautiful, intelligent and sensitive "Melange"!
There are countless movie mashups on TH-cam. Rarely are they even watchable. But here you have produced a worthy tribute to the greatest star ever. Thank you
Beautiful video. A tribute to the divine Actress, a divine Artist created by someone with the soul of an artist, with a perfect sense of harmony between image and music. THANK YOU.
Yes, I agree she was quite stunning with flawless features. But why is it that these once beautiful movie actresses turn into crazy old women? In her final years, an aging Garbo lived here in NYC where she would often wander the streets all bundled up with huge dark glasses and a huge hat and then suddenly start to run holding a newspaper to cover her once beautiful face because she imagined that someone was watching or following her. Few if any people found time to watch and follow an old lady who had not made a film in 50 years. She probably was having flashbacks to her movie star days when she was hounded by reporters and fans.
I like it and the music is very good too, usually the music is very bad in tribute videos and I have to mute it but this was very good and went with the film images well
no one woman till today , describe the passion like She did , not necessary to show and put your tongue to man' or woman's mouth , what they do now, passion is something mystery , not all have .
Wonderful, but I missed that unforgettable scene where as Queen Christina, Garbo "memorizes" a palace room by touching the objects in it just before she is to leave her home in Sweden forever.
She liken to a rare species of butterfly. Hard to catch, because a butterfly is brittle and elusive,be careful u dont catch her with to much force or Envy!.
I dnt remember the name of her movie in which she became a famous singer or actress and took care of her ideal actor when he had this decline from his career..
no puede ser que en 100 years nadie le gane en escenas de besos, las cuales deberian de ser las mas iconicas y un reto a superar . se parece a una fusiion de AG and TS TAGS
Having retired from Hollywood she was made an honorary commander in the Swedish navy, and occasionally piloted the submarine named in her honour. She reputedly sank two German U boats that were en route to Stockholm in 1942.
Garbo: Attractive, yes. But I simply don't see her as some kind of goddess, no. If she hadn't pulled her recluse bit, she would have faded into grey mist, like all the other Hollywood leading ladies....
I guess I'm in the minority. I've never really understood the cult of Garbo. She wasn't beautiful, she wasn't even particularly pretty. She had a thick Germanic accent and couldn't act. Her best film was Ninotchka, where she's basically doing a parody of herself. Joan Crawford blew her away by comparison in Grand Hotel they both starred in. She was smart though, she retired at the height of her popularity before anybody else realized this.
Yes, you are definitely in the minority. But don't feel bad. No one is perfect - not even Garbo! The thing about Garbo is that she's in a category of her own. She makes her own rules and makes people accept them. No one looks, talks, moves like her, and no one could get away with trying to. Bette Davis said she couldn't analyze Garbo's acting and called it "sheer witchcraft." The world has tended to agree, but there were always those who didn't get it. She's just too individual to be to everyone's taste, and that's to be expected.
What brought so much passion to Garbo's "love scenes" was the way she so masterfully ANTICIPATED the kiss. The anticipation was always right there on her face. great comment and true
I love this comment with the added quotes for effect. She was such an enigmatic woman.
Joan Crawford said she took breath away and Garbo was sad they didn't have any scenes together in Grand Hotel
Exquisite, blissful, a divine homage to the Divine Lady.

A face sculpted to perfection! And look ladies, she looked like herself, not everyone else in the country.
Ich kann mich noch erinnern, da wurden Greta Garbo Filme im deutschen Fernsehen gezeigt. So etwas gibt es leider nicht mehr. Diese Frau war magisch.

Physically I’d say she’s attractive but not beautiful; it’s her charisma that makes her a legend. Charisma truly is a gift from God.
